  1. The advice about making a backup reservation and to keep on bidding until right before you need the hotel sounds just right to me. But I wouldn't bother staying at the airport the first night because you think it would be easier. We flew into Singapore after midnight and found taxis were readily available and inexpensive. Our driver was very nice. There was no traffic at that hour and we got to the Conrad very quickly. I don't think you'd save much time at all by staying at the airport and, of course, you would then have the inconvenience of moving the next day.
  2. Your problem is you are bidding too early. If you bid within the week before you want the hotel, you may be more successful and get the Conrad under $90. That's what happened with me, just as I was about to give up.
  3. I was very happy with how this bid ended up. I started bidding several weeks before the trip but was not having any luck. In the meantime, PRICELINE emailed me "Bonus Cash" ($30 for minimum 3 nt stay). I was about to give up but made one last try for a 5* and got the Conrad. With the $30 PRICELINE gave me, my bid was actually $77 but it appeared as $87 to the hotel.
  4. I was trying for the Conrad for a few weeks. I wasn't having any luck. About 3 days before we left, I decided to make one last try before booking on another site. I got the Conrad for $87/nt for 3 nts in April. They even gave me Hhonors points. So, if you can hold out it would be worth it. The hotel is fantastic.
  5. I bid on a post-cruise hotel night and got it for $75, my very first bid ever. Now I'm kicking myself that I must have bid too high. I read everything I could find about SD hotels on this board and checked hotwire and the Sheraton website, which had this hotel, Sheraton Suites, on a special sale for $175 during that time. And there's a 5,000 person convention in town then, so I figured all the 4* hotels would be busy with conventioneers. I'm fine with the hotel, just don't know whether or not I got a good price even though it does seem like less than half of any other price I could find. Was I foolish or lucky?
