  1. Looking on Hotwire for August 21-27 for Pearson Airport YYZ in Toronto. One property comes us and the amenities are Pets, Pool, Spa, Restaurant, Shuttle, Business, Centre, Fitness Center and Internet. It has 80% good reviews. Thoughts on this one?
  2. Flying out in the morning so I booked with hotwire. Used the HOTWIRE link from this site. Amenities were Shuttle, Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business, Laundry and HighSpeed. Booking with hotwire saved me a whopping $7 over the identical property on Expedia. Further evidence in my mind anyway, that hotwire has lost some luster. I find it harder and harder to find great deals there, not like the old days and not like priceline.
  3. Thanks for posting your win. The details in your post as well as fudgee's gave me enough info to bid for a hotel as well for the dates I wanted and it worked out.
  4. I really needed this hotel for May 7-8, 2011 and I needed two rooms. I had been checking hotwire for quite awhile but it was not coming up. I was hesitant to try Priceline since the Sheraton was the most expensive 4* airport hotel for this date, so I assumed I would get one of the other in the area. After reading some recent posts on here about the Sheraton Gateway and checking those dates on 'full freight' Priceline, I realized the Sheraton was the most expensive on those dates as well. I decided I would try for one room as a gamble, and if it paid off I would bid again for another room. I bid $65 which was what the other threads indicated they paid, and it was accepted straight away. I went through the process again and got the second room. Oddly enough though, when I bid for the second room, the prognosticator indicated that $100 would give a 'decent chance' of success, and warned that $65 had a low chance. 3 minutes earlier while bidding on the first room $65 fell into the 'decent chance' category. Anyhow, I used the PRICELINE link from betterbidding and got the rooms I needed, where I needed them for $65 per. The cheapest prepaid room from Sheraton direct is currently at $137 for my dates, so I'm thrilled.
  5. Actually we would pay a bit higher to avoid the Outriggers. Wife wants a 'resort' pool.
  6. I'm thinking of bidding for a 10 night stay in Waikiki for April. If I check my dates as paying full freight the two cheapest resorts are the Outriggers. Can I assume this is what I will end up with when I bid?
  7. Decided against this trip for now. Thanks though.
  8. I'm looking at a 4*, Waikiki Beach area for February 5-17, 2011. I get a rate of $116 per night and the amenities are as follows: Resort, Beachfront, Smoke Free, Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business, Laundry, Hi Speed, and Children's Programs. I think it might be the Sheraton, but thought I would put it to you guys. Thanks.
  9. He forgot: Fitness Pool Restaurant Business 24 hour front desk high speed internet golf nearby tennis nearby kitchenette I too an interested for those exact same dates, and have been debating taking a gamble or booking directly. The price on Hotwire is showing $69 for 2 adults and 1 child. I think it's the Sheraton Vistana Villages.
  10. Thanks,we might just book directly as the new Hilton is a pretty good deal. HOTWIRE isn't offering much for that time.
  11. Everything updated on the other thread. Thanks for the reminder.
  12. We ended up not booking this and took a cruise instead. Thanks though.
  13. It ended up being the Sheraton Centre. I must have had the worst room in the place. It was in the old portion of the hotel on the main floor, walkout to some eerie walkway behind the pool.
  14. Searched HOTWIRE through links on this site. March 6-13, 2010 and came up with a 4star Disney Maingate Celebration for $99 per night. Amenities are: 1-Bedroom Suite Condominium Fully-equipped Kitchen Complimentary Breakfast Daily Housekeeping Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center 24-hour Front Desk High-speed Internet Access I searched 2 adults, 1 child. Thanks.
  15. Given there is not a 'non smoking' amenity, do we think it is likely the Hyatt or Hilton? Does the Sheraton sell rooms without that symbol/amenity noted? Also where on the hotwire site do you see hotwire's hotel ratings (%)? I haven't seen any yet.
  16. Have they stopped using tripadvisor ratings? I don't see one when I check the hotel.
  17. Hotwire is showing a 4 star in Toronto Downtown West for tomorrow night the 5th, for $89. The amenities are: Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business, and Internet. It's point of interest is Kensington market. I am looking for a smoking room and am hoping this is the Hyatt. I know priceline currently shows the Hyatt as available for tomorrow, and they rate it is a 3.5 star. Am I better off bidding on Priceline for the 3.5 star, which could turn into the Delta Chelsea (non smoking), or taking a shot with Hotwire?
  18. Thanks for the tip on the taxis. We were on board last year as well and did notice our cab driver seeming quite confused when we asked him to take us to Red Hook. I was hoping a year onward, they would have been informed. I'll bring the map just to be safe.
  19. Catching QM2 on Nov. 30 so flying into New York the day before and wanted to be close to the pier in Brooklyn. Had heard the Marriott Brooklyn Bridge was nice and 5 mins from the pier. Used the links on this site and visited PRICELINE.com. Bid $119 and was denied, but offered a free rebid if I increased by $22. Usually I say no, but I really wanted this hotel and rebids in NYC are limited so I caved. Got 2 rooms for $141 and the going rate is more than double that.
  20. Just won the Westin Harbour Castle Downtown Toronto for May 28, 2009, for 1 night. Bid $45, $49, and accepted at $52. Did it for my inlaws who are from Sweden, so used a Swedish Amex Card, with my home address. Used the PRICELINE link here.
  21. Looking to book November 28, 2009-December 8, 2009, 2 rooms, 2 adults in each room. 4* in Waikiki Beach area for $132, Resort Beach Front Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Laundry High Speed Children Activities Thanks for the help.
