  1. With the dollar getting stronger against the Euro combined with these fares it may be a good time to go. https://www.continental.com/web/en-US/conte..._in_europe.aspx
  2. Wellcome to the site. I won this property once. like you I expected to get one of the cheaper properties in the area. I wanted the Holiday Inn (great patio bar when the weather is nicer). As to price I got it for $58 but when you are bidding for one night that is the same as a big event at the Excel center the rate will be higher.
  3. A great tool for someone to reasearch hotels in an area before booking.
  4. The sale commences at 0001hrs (GMT+8) on Wednesday 25 February 2009 to enjoy the great savings we
  5. This could come in handy. It would save me from firing up the laptop.
  6. With some of my friends thats not a bad thing! :) :)
  7. I just ran a search on HOTWIRE using the link at the top of the page. I see a full size for $17.99 per day for your dates. I have betten HOTWIRE car rental prices with PRICELINE. Hotwire sometimes is cheaper. From the home page go to the bottom you will see a rental car section. In that section I see a win for $9 per day. http://www.betterbidding.com/index.php?sho...hl=Philadelphia
  8. A few times when I would sign in I would see the PL rate on the sheet. But it has been awile since I have seen that. Had not thought about checking the folio on the TV.
  9. Two ways. 1: The booking fees. 2: The diference between what the hotel charges them and what you bid. Example Hotel Shows PL a rate of $49 you bid $100. They charge you a $5 booking fee. PL made $56. If you would have bid $49 and PL takes it they only make $5 but the hotel still gets paid the same.
  10. They should not charge you. I have made hundreds of failed bids and have never been charged for one.
  11. Perry, The main reason I post the details of my wins is to help other people. I also post reviews so others know what to think about the properties. Now I am going to come down very hard on you. If you would have used the board and did your home work before bidding you would have known which property this was. This is what I found in the Hotwire list of hotels. Tuscaloosa 2.5* La Quinta REVIEW Amenities: Complimentary Breakfast, Pool, Hi-Speed Internet Here is a review of this hotel posted on this site. "Warning! This LaQuinta in Tuscaloosa, AL is anything but a 2.5*. It's not even a hotel - rather a motel with all exterior doors to the outside. It's right on the expressway - loud!! Don't waste your money here." I did a quick search for your dates Hotwire came back with the same Amenities listed. So you could have identified this property and known that it may not be one that you would like. Remember all of this information was provided by someone who "Won" this property. If you took to the time to post your information requested in the correct forum to help someone else then perhaps you could get some help. Or to put it bluntly if you are not willing to help me identify a bad hotel why should I help you?
  12. When you click on the Request Number does it pull a reservation with flight information?
  13. JayStar go to Priceline.com at the top on the right click check my trips. Sign in then you will see the status of all recent bids. If it does not have a check mark then it was not accepted. You can print the page for proof.
  14. It will depend upon the code. One piece of advice know what the code is for.
  15. You are correct. PL will does not let you specify more that two people. Just remember that when bidding for two rooms you may get two that are not on the same floor. When I am in this situation I use the more traditional booking methods.
  16. No problems at check in, given a room with two beds. Room was nice. I liked the coffee maker and coffee. Internet and parking were free. Overall a very good experince.
  17. Yes quite the savings, BTW the hilton web site shows a rate of $109, so more than 50% off.
  18. Not much planning, decided to run into Houston tomorrow night. Wanted to book the IC direct but the rate was kind of high then add on parking it was more than I wanted to pay. Over all this looks like a decent deal. I am sure that with more planning I could have gotten a lower rate. Hilton Houston Southwest Houston Southwest - Sugar Land 6780 Southwest Freeway Houston, Texas 77074 713-977-7911 Check-In Date: Fri, Jan 23, 2009 / After 02:00 PM Check-Out Date: Sat, Jan 24, 2009 / 01:00 PM Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $50.00 Subtotal: $50.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $15.88 Total Charges*: $65.88
  19. Depending upon the market it could be easy to spend $150 per day in the hotel. Last time that I was at the IC in NYC parking was $50 per day. Room service breakfast for two about $60. Add a couple drinks at the bar and your over $150. This house spending is why can often get better deals on 4 star hotels than 2 star hotels.
  20. At some airports you can pick up a car in the airport but some companies you will have to take a shuttle bus. When I am on a tight schedual I want to stay off the suttle bus.
