  1. Got this one on my first bid. I used the PRICELINE link. I've stayed at other 4* hotels in Chicago using PRICELINE bidding, but this time I was very disappointed with this hotel. I don't think the Hotel Felix should be rated a 4* by Priceline. The tiny room was redone and the shower was nice, but the walls were paper thin and there was the constant sound of doors slamming in the hallway. I guess there's a spa somewhere in the hotel, so this must be what qualifies them for the 4* rating. I have two more trips scheduled for Chicago soon, but I'm going to skip PRICELINE bidding in the NMA zone because I would not want to end up at this hotel again. I wonder how many people bidding on lower star levels will get 'upgraded' to this hotel?
  2. That's a great rate. I live a few blocks from the Hotel Erwin. It's right in the middle of Venice Beach near Windward and the Ocean Front Walk. You'll be there on Sunday the most active day to see Venice Beach. The hotel has a rooftop bar which is supposed to be nice, I haven't been up there yet. There's a really good tapas/panini restaurant Santino's next to the hotel.
  3. Do you need parking and internet access, what does each hotel charge? I just attended two conferences this month and decided to go with the conference hotel instead of trying Priceline for a cheaper room. It was really nice to have the option of taking breaks in my room in the same hotel as the conference and not having to drive/walk to another hotel when I was very tired at the end of the day.
  4. Check out the Venice Canals and the Venice fishing pier, both within walking distance of the Marriott.
  5. I bid for a week started at $98 on May 3rd and slowly raised my bid by $2-7 using my three free rebids zones. Final bid, May 10th, 4* Monterey, CA Bid -$142 Priceline asked me to raise price by $22 Rebid -added Pacific Grove $148 Rebid -added Marina Seaside $154 Accepted I got the Intercontinental Monterey The Clement for $154, the hotel I hoped to get. 4* hotels Monterey, regular rates for July 5th: Intercontinental Monterey The Clement $244 Marriott Monterey $199 Each time I used the PRICELINE link.
  6. I was looking for two nights in SF, 9/24 & 9/25, but because of a convention, I couldn't find anything for 9/24. I am going to the Frida Kahlo show at SFMOMA and would like to be near the museum. I tried SOMA and USE (4*-3*) with PRICELINE with no luck. I considered staying at a motel on Lombard, but the ten motels I tried were also sold out for the first night, second night available only at the Lombard Motel for $145. I decided to try for only the 2nd night: 9/25/08 USE 4* $91 USE 3 1/2* $105 USE 3* $125 added SOMA 3* $137 Got 4* SOMA for $137 Congratulations, we
