ktwofish, Yes, I won that hotel on a prior visit. It's in a great spot, a few blocks away the Union Square noise and crowds but only a few blocks walk. Also very well located for Nob Hill, Russian Hill, Chinatown and the cable car. It's a bit quiet at the weekend, but a great central base. It deserves its rating.
You can park in South Beach at 200 Brannan St for a weekend rate of $5. Park anytime Saturday and leave by 11.59pm Sunday. I stayed at the Palace Hotel on Market St. & 2nd street. The walk from the car was approx 15 mins. There was no attendant and I didn't see any rules about no in/out so I was able to use the car on and off for the whole weekend.
