I felt safe bidding, wanting Nugget, as I don't see a lot of other 4* downtown!
We are going to The Hotel for four nights after that,l which we booked on a hotel special at $90 a night- but wanted downtown for a night so we can go to Mermaids for loose slots using real coins plus deep fried oreos lol.
I used the HOTWIRE link from here.
Because of all my trips HOTWIRE has made me a Howtwire VIP ;-)
Just to let you know Hotwire asked me to call them but we simply had no time to move during this working vacation. The Residence did give me a two step step stool which I was able to climb to reach the pool ladder with my families help.
I think they were fixing the ladders the day we left.
Yes- I am doing that- and honestly mauy have to bite the financial bullet as using the pool is vital and necessary to my daily pain level. I am hoping they can see I am a customer worth helping.
I did a search for 5-28 to 6-2 to see what is out there and up came a three and a half star in North C. SPrings- have you any idea what it is? I don't see it on the list.
We arrived st the Residence Inn today and at first felt happy with the room. I need a pool physical therapy each day to keep the pian level in my legs manageable and their pool at first seemed great- good temperature, not too much chlorine, and a nice depth. However, the two ladders in to the pool have only two rungs that are so high on the ladder thst you need to lift your knee very very high and pull yourself up and I cannot reach the rung. I had to have my son give me a leg up and then raised myself eith difficulty up to sitting on the side- then had to kneel on my injured knees, which cause s lot of pain today. I cannot , and should not have to use them. I now face not being able to do my vital therapy unless I can move to abnother hotel with a pool I can actually get into and out of but with Hotwire being -prepaid and nonrefundable I cant afford to pay again.
Does anyone know if there is any point to contacting them and asking them to help?
Sure enough it is there. This is odd though as yesterday when I cut and pasted it again it was not. Hmmm...
Just in case you lost track I have now been to Vegas in February, San Diego and LA in April, then Philly at the end of April, then Vegas, then New Jersey, tomorrow Colorado, followed by Saratoga and SYracuse the following week. All HOTWIRE or PRICELINE.
Congratulaitons on your success!Glad to see you received the hotel you were hoping for and that you're happy with the results.
Can you please add a reply to this thread confirming if there was also a Laundry icon associated with this property... you can still view the amenities shown before your purchase by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page.
Enjoy your stay.
Yes- the listed amenities in my original post were a direct cut and paste from my account, and I noticed the laundry icon when I was deciding what to do- which concerned me a bit as the hotel web site did not show that. I took a gamble and, this time, won. I guess I wont know until we get there if there are truly laundry facilities or not.
Used link!
We were so happy this was the hotel as we wanted to stay here but not enough to pay the $199 quoted elsewhere! Now our plans are complete with HOTWIRE hotels here and in Saratoga...

As I reported, my six night stay was at Residence Inn, but when I selected what seemed to be an identical property for my family I got the Hyatt Summerfield Suites instead.

Hello- I think we will be ok though, just as I feared, I booked the same price, same star level, and same amenities for the rest of my family and naturally got a different hotel!
Here are the specs-
May 27th -June 2nd 3 Star Hotel North C. Springs $49 a night

Residence Inn
and three rooms for May 28th - June 1st3 Star Hotel North C. Springs $49 a night

Interestingly- neither is the Hyatt Place lol!
You cannot beat the price though- they all have kitchens, buffet breakfast, etc. Hopefullu not too far from one another.
Use the HOTWIRE link for both and am about to book a hotel in New Jersey and another in Vegas using the links....
Well so far i Booked our six night stay thinking it would be the Hyatt Place but got the Residence Inn (Marriott) instead. The family is discussing what they want to do as the Residence Inn is not what we would call North C. Springs at all and is much farther away fron where we hoped to be.
As soon as they decide I will complete everything and report it here. Using links of course!
The problem I asked about is that over the phone we each entered the exact same dates amd rooms but he got a hotel including business center, while mine did not, his was $59 and mine was $49. It was thew only 3 star N C. Springs showing- what could account for that?
Thank you!
It will be one room for six nights, then probably three for another amount of time, and my Dad will do his wife's relatives separately.
Another question- I was guiding my Dad through the Hotwire process over the phone (an interesting task as he is 87 and though basically tech savvy not nearly as much as I am) and the three star north C. Springs had the addition of a business center and was $59 while I put in identical parameters and showe it w/o business center and for $49. Is that unusual?
I was able to explain to him that nothing is guaranteed with HOTWIRE and that you buy the hotel before you are given the name but that if it is the right area on the map then you know you have three stars and can be guaranteed a basic level of quality.
I started with just one room for two- for us. We have a few more days,

Boy- I sure seem to be traveling a lot this year!
We are headed to a family wedding in C. Springs - we as the photographers and a passel of others to attend. Everyone is so impressed with my luck with Hotwire that I have been asked to book hotels for everyone.
Starting with our dates- I put in May 27th- June 2nd and I see three hotels I would love help identifying- 3.5 star near world arena for $49 , a 3 star in North C. Springs for $46, and a 2 1/2 star in North C. Springs for $49.
Any help you could give, even if only the possible ids, would be so appreciated- my Dad lives in C. Springs and is counting on me for help.
Thanks!!!
Thanks for the tip!
I got my requested room by phone today and also a Priceline name your own price for car rental while there- mid size for $26.00 a day from Budget. Even AAA had this at $45. SO with our $49 airfare, our $88 room, and $26 car- wow! SAVED A LOT.
First, please note that this is a very unusual weekend with literally 10,000 people in town for a big convention, so you can do better than this price normally - but I was very glad to get it.I saw that a $55 bid had been accepted in last three weeks for a 3*, so I figured I'd get the Holiday Inn or similar, so:
Bid $40 for 3* Downtown-Harbor Island - rejected
added San Ysidro (dummy zone - no 3* there), raised to $45 - rejected
added Chula Vista (another dummy zone), raised to $50 - rejected
The next night, I bid $55 for Downtown-Harbor Island - rejected
added san ysidro, raised to $60 - rejected
added Chula Vista, raised to $65 - rejected
So at this point I figured forget it, why pay more than $65 for a 3*.
So I moved on to 4* the next evening:
Bid $65 for 4* in Downtown-Harbor Island - rejected
added Mission Valley (dummy zone), raised to $70 - rejected
added Miramar (dummy zone), raised to $75 - rejected
OK, one more night of bidding:
Bid $80 for 4* in Downtown-Harbor Island - got counteroffer of $102. Turned it down
added Mission Valley, raised to $90, accepted by Sheraton.
Longest I've ever spent trying to get a hotel on Priceline!
Comment on Sheraton:
Very nice place! You can literally walk there from the airport - but it is a few blocks and you would want a roller bag. They have a free bus but it only goes every 30 min.
Lots of computers in the big lobby, which are currently free to use, but they have a timer system on them and they can easily switch them to pay-by-the-minute.
Lobby is wonderful - nice restaurants, great sofas, TVs and computers everywhere, Starbucks in lobby.
Outside very pretty, they have firepits with rocking chairs around them, which are nice to sit at.
This place is NOT on the beach - in fact, there is almost no beach in San Diego - the shore is rocky and the beach is mostly out at Coronado Island. Plus this hotel is on the bay, not the ocean - so you look over the marina, and past the marina is the bay, and then coronado island. it's very nice, just don't think you're going to be able to jog on the beach.
We'll be staying there on Sunday for three nights- wondering which tower you stayed in?
meggiepriceCongratulations on your success!
Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding :)
Can you please post the dates for your stay.
Yellowdog.
PS. I have moved this to the correct section.
Thanks for taking care of that.
The dates are 4/15 - 4/17 I am very very pleased with this result!
My suggestion is to bid for a 3.5* Downtown and take a cab. It's 3-4 miles. The Marriott picks up most 3.5* bids now, for $55-$65 many nights.
I suggest $55 for a 3.5*, then add Culver City and Lawndale (your two free rebids for 3.5*) at $60 and $65.
If the Marriott idea appeals to you please remember to use the PRICELINE link when you bid.
Wow! I used the link- bid $55 and bingo! Marriott! Thanks so much- it even has free internest and that usually adds 15 or 20 a day for us...even more if it is me and my son as in this case as we both have laptops. Please change the thread title to reflect my success.
Any tips on getting a rental car in San Diego?
oops- I realized this is in Hotwire and I ended up using Priceline- should it be moved?
The Arena is not in any HOTWIRE zone but sits just below the southern boundary of the (Mid-Wilshire - Westlake - USC Area) zone (but you should doublecheck this information yourself as i'm not local to the area and just going by what the map indicates)If you're looking for a hotel that is nearest to this location you can try entering "Los Angeles Sports Arena" into the search box at BackUpBooking.com
Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
Ah, that was very helpful! Looks like downtown is best since the other close ones are 2 star, basically.
5* Los Angeles (Pasadena) The Langham Huntington
in Hotwire Hotels - LOS ANGELES
Posted
Oh yay! We were hoping that might be the case- someone gave us a night at the Langham last year as a gift and it was AMAZING! SO I read your answer, used your handy HOTWIRE link, and lo and behold the price had fallen to $139! I figured we would be happy no matter what- what with the five stars, so I booked and it is indeed the Langham!
Can you change my thread title or should I post again- we got the Langham, with exactly the above amenities from 8/22-8/24 for $139 a night.
