  1. I would like to try with a maximum of 150. I figure we are paying 149 plus 20 resort fee if we go with Signature, so if we were to end up on the ohter end of the strip., albeit with a nicer place, we would have $20 to spend on taxis. Although it is indeed next to the trade show- we are NOT part of the convention- just wanting to go to the trade show, so proximity is not as critical. I would love to know how Trump comnpares with Signature....
  2. Alas, I did not realize about Travelocity- will do from now on. In fact if we do book Signature I will lnk from here. I might go ahead and do a Priceline bid for a low amount for 5* though in light of what you said- you never know! We feel we saved a bit on our first three nights and would love a true five star for the final two. Can you suggest a strategy? It looked to me as if we would end up in the Trump- what are your feelings about that?
  3. We would rather not stay at Caesar's Palace. We have been there before. In fact, we have revised our need for help to be for the nights Monday the 16th and Tuesday the 17th only- here's why- And it is rather weird. Since my brothers and their girlfriends are wanting to stay at the Westin- (they have a lot of allergies and it is smoke free) I looked around for Friday, Saturday and Sunday night there (we added another night as they are coming in to meet us Friday) and amazingly enough Travelocity gave it to all of us at $99 a night, including Saturday! I checked Expedia, Priceline, and Hotel.com and they all quoted 169-189 a night for the exact same nights at that hotel. SO we feel good about that- staying with family in te heavenly beds lol. S0 my husband and I decided to definitely go five star for the remaining two nights of our stay after the family leaves. We are going to the trade show of WPPI convention at the MGM. I decided to look around online and see what there is at 5 stars and the Signature at MGM Grand came up at $149 for Junior Suites. This gave me pause! That is right next to the convention and looks really good on "paper". There is a $20 resort fee also, which includes two bottles of water (lol!) local calls, high speed internet etc. (I always go for internet so this can be considered a savings of sorts). SO essentially 169 a night for five star. So I am wondering now if there is a way to structure a bid so as to get that same hotel for less than 149 lol! Should I consider doing a 5 star search at 125 or so? Then again, I actually do not see this hotel on Priceline so perhaps it is not even an option. Say I did submit 120 or 125 and got a hotel- what are the place I might end up? I saw the Signature a few places at tthe 149 price. It also kind of appeasl to head down to this end of the strip after staying down at the Westin. Thanks!
  4. How far from the strip is it? We do not need a casino. We are there first to meet family and do an engagement portrait, and then for the WPPI trade show. We gamble a bit but the smoke deters us. I will have to look around....a map lol. I find it easy to go up and down the strip- plus we enjoy walking a lot while there. Trade show is at MGM Grand, family staying at Westin....which is all the way almost at the other end. Other important place- the candy apple store in the Bally's basement lol! (btw, If I do not always retain things here that have been told me I apologize to everyone as I have a medical condition causing memory loss. )
  5. I hope this is appropriate, but based on just searching Priceline on the regular way, it appears the delinieation line for the higher prices is Sunday night. WPPI is probably the reason- huge convention. Now I realize we need to be willing to do four star with the limitations our timing has brought...
  6. p.s. thanks for the tip on how to see my priceline history!
  7. Yes, we would be willing to pay more for 5*- I think that my concern is making sure what we end up with is ok. I just discovered something interesting as we are meeting some family there and they are staying Friday and Saturday.Saturday night is Valentines Day. I suggested the Westin to them as it is smoke free and they have allergies- they have a $99 rate when they searched on Travelocity and when we did it for Saturday to Wednesday just to compare we got $169 a night including the Saturday. So they did not even give us the 99 for Saturday! I is also interesting that they have a lower rate for the 14th- perhaps Valentines is not such a big Vegas thing. There is a big photography convention starting Sunday= that may be the issue. If we were to do splitting, and that seems to indicate possibly having to move, I would want to stick to five 5tar. As for maximum we want to pay...we would love to keep it at 150 or below- is that reasonable? Can it be lower? I have no idea what is possible/probable. Thanks! Meg
  8. I found all three! I hope they help. Now that I an a member here, I would love to become more savvy- and am starting with a thoughie in the dates I have selected for Vegas. Thank you!
  9. I have, since joining this site, seen others get a much better rate for this hotel. However as this room is usually $299 we felt great. Moreover- we ADORED this hotel and I wish I knew hot be sure to get it again! We got to earn gold passport points, and we had a gorgeous room with a breathtaking view. 10. This was one of my first PRICELINE bids on a hotel room. I felt great getting this room for $59 off the quoted rate on the hotel site, as we had almost booked it that way, wanting to be within walking distance of Staples center. I now believe I could have paid a lot less. Looks like it shifted downwards to 3 and a half stars since then. Westin Bonaventure Hotel 3
  11. I found one of them and posted it in Oakland - East Bay- can you review to make sure I did it correctly? I realized I could do a searc for Priceline in my e-mails and reconstruct what I did but it is rather embarassing as I thought when I signed up here I had done really well but now I amr reading- not so sure! I will post the others as I locate the- I have a new laptop so am trying to reconstruct and am bedridden following knee surgery. This is my first travel plan since I signed up in September....now I will use your link.
  12. I had not yet started using this site when I booked! I advised a friend to try $100 and she got it. This is currently the only 4 star in Oakland Eastbay area so that makes the re-bids much easier! We loved the old world charm of this hotel and grounds and would return for sure. However, there is a resort fee of $24 a day in addition and that came as a shock. 13. I am sorry! I did not mean since I found this site- I mean last year, when I tried Priceline on my own without guidance. WOuld you like me to try to reconstruckt what I did? WHen you answered my post last time I thought you meant when I use your strategy I should post the results. I will go back in my e-mails and see if I can reconstruct the bids. If I had known then what I know now!
  14. Hi everyone! I LOVE this place and recommend it to others as well as using this to launch my searches. I have had great luck on PRICELINE but have never tried for Vegas. We will be there from Saturday February 14th through Wednesday the 18th and would love a five star hotel or fabulous four star. I am pretty good on priceline but have no idea what is realistic- I know there is a big photography convention there that week, plus it is Valentines Day. Any tips? We want to be on the strip or close.
  15. Hello everyone! I am new here... I just started using Priceline in the last few weeks for hotels and was pleased with three different results. I wanted to mention here that as a Hyatt Platinum Passport member I was able to request a king bed and get it because that status guarantees your bed request. Our rooms were amazing with fabulous views at the San Diego Grand Hyatt. I will use the link here from now on for my bids!
