  1. You got a fruit plate? Sniff. I stayed 3 nights (3 different bookings), and didn't get squat. I did get a nice fruit plate at the Shangri-La everyday though. (Joined their Golden Circle club before I came)
  2. Well I don't want to step on toes, as I believe they depend on some referral bonuses here but it is discussed HERE. I booked each night seperately. Now of course, I do get hit with an extra $6 or so fee by doing this, but still figure I'm $8 or so ahead on each booking. The room as $55, plus $13.92 fees and taxes for a total of $68.92. Subtracting the $15 I get it's only $53.92 (And actually only $52.89 since I get a 1.5% cash bonus on my Paypal credit card). It all adds up if you do a bit of travelling. Now I just hope that the Sheraton, Nw Renaissance and Kowloon hotel are pretty close to each other. :)
  3. I decided that if I was going to jump around, I'd try one more night at the Sheraton (figured I'd stash my bags there, and just take a small bag with me). Started at $68, no go. Decided, to forget about it, and try and get the same hotel. Started at $51, no go, then went to $55 (added a zone HK East, I *think*), and it took it. Finally two nights in one hotel. Total cost $68.92. This seems like a decent deal, the hotel has internet specials of 750 HK dollars per night (plus taxes). My net cost was $53.92 after my $15 bonus. This is the first time I've gotten so many hotels in one zone. There wasn't much info on 4* hotels in this zone anyplace that I could find.
  4. I thought I would get the same hotel, but was trying to see how low they'd go. I didn't mess around much though, and just went $57. Got a different hotel. What fun. One more night to book. Total cost $71.21
  5. Well I booked my first night a couple of weeks ago at the Sheraton. I didn't think there would be problem in getting additional nights. Wrong. Being the miserly bugger that I am, I was shooting for the bonus on each booking. I wasn't getting anything (up to $75 on the Sheraton), so decided that I'd try for a 4 star. Started out at $46, then $48, $51, $55 and then $58. (I would choose a 2 day period for a rebid, close the window, redo it again, etc) So finally at $58 I got this one. So far, 2 nights, 2 hotels. Stay tuned for the saga. Total Cost $72.37.
  6. Okay, thanks for the info. I've got a 24 day stay in Bali, and think I'd like to see Jakarta a little bit. It seems the tickets are very expensive to buy from the US, but very cheap in Bali. I'll check out Zuji. Gracias.
  7. I booked an 8 day stay, which included a Saturday (of course!), and had no problems. I tried getting bookings in late July and August and couldn't get anything. Ended up at the Holiday Inn, Silom.
  8. I tried bidding up to $75 a night from early July through late July (For early August dates), and never had any success. Since it was supposed to be the slow season, I didn't know why I wasn't having any luck.
  9. It looks like I'm going to stay in Jakarta, Indonesia for a week or so next month, and thought I'd check out a PL stay while I'm there. They do list three areas: Gambir - Merdeka Square Jalan Jaksa Slipi Ranging between 2-4 star for hotel ratings. Has anyone booked anything here? I feel rather naked with no reports that I can find.
  10. I didn't book the last two nights until I was in Bangkok, but thought I'd post them for informational sake. I found out that you have to have 48 hours between booking a room and checkin, when booking Bangkok (Other intl destinations?). I had booked 2 nights initially at the Holiday Inn, Silom. I was still hoping to get the Shangri-La for a few nights, but the first night when in Bangkok, I tried to book the other 3 nights, and it wouldn't let me book for two days in advance. I ended up having to book the middle other night at the Hotel Asia (Taking the Skytrain there. Not horrible, but their checkin lines are horrid.), since I couldn't Priceline anything.
  11. Thanks to the bidding details given here, I got it for my first bid of $67. Taxes added $15.75, for a total $82.71. I'm booking 1 night at a time to get points for this booking.
  12. Is there any way to tell this in advance? For instance, if I want the Shangri-La in Bangkok, does anyone have experience with this? I'd hate to book a bunch of nights, and then find that they refuse 3 people. If I can get two beds in a room, I know *we* won't have any problems.
  13. I'm buring some reward miles, and am going to Singapore and Tokyo. I'm not sure if Priceline allows 3 people in a booking or not, so thought I'd ask here. I've stayed at the Shangri-La in Bangkok before, and enjoyed my Priceline stay. I'd like to find similar deals in SIN and NRT for my family. In Tokyo, I'm only there for 3 days, but want to do the Disneyland thing, and get a good feel for the whole area. Any recommendations would be great. (Either Priceline stays, or reasonably priced hotels close to train/subway transportation.) I'll be in Singapore for 2-3 days, near the end of this month, and then flying to Narita at the beginning of August. As a newbie, I hope I haven't posted in the wrong place. :)
  14. For stays of 1 week or more, I'd recommend getting your own apartment. Places like www.bytargentina.com are pretty good (I've used them recently). If you're staying for 2 weeks or longer you will save serious money. Monthlong stays cost barely more than 2 weeks. Say $300-$450 for a decent one bedroom. There are some nice hotels in the Recoleta area. Say $60-$100 per night. I stayed in a midlevel place, called the Dazzler that wasn't bad. It was under $40 at the time, I think it's $45 these days. Decent quality, close enough to everything.
  15. Just remember that the taxes/fees will add about $17 for a one night stay. I would disagree with Edyvr on the $70 part. I stayed at the Shangri-La for the base $55 per night for two stays about 6 weeks ago. I'll be booking some more nights in the next week or so. Current winning bidding that I see is $60 or so. As a seperate note, an Asia forum would be nice. :)
