1. Won this today. Had not seen this hotel reported on any forums before. Increased bids by $10 using rebid zones to $180, received offer to raise bid to $222, so knew I was getting close. Increased bids by $5 to $195, with taxes and fees $658. I did use your PRICELINE link. Thanks for the service.
2. Started bidding at $75, countered with $97, bid $84, then $87. Used your PRICELINE link. Can't believe this price for a 5* in London. Thanks for your service. Ray
3. Started bidding at $40 with $5 bonus cash, worked my way up to $49 with $5 bonus cash. Tried to use your link, but I had to log back in to my account to use the bonus cash, so I don't know if it worked or not. Thanks for your service.
4. Bid $55, then $58, then $60. Did use your PRICELINE link. Thanks for the service.
5. Started bidding at $63 with $7 bonus cash added, added $5 with each bid, got the Edgewater at $73 plus the $7 bonus cash. This will work out great for us, as we are leaving on a cruise the next day and some of the photos on TripAdvisor show a cruise ship right outside the window. Started with your PRICELINE link, then had to sign in to activate the Bonus Cash. Thanks for the service.
6. The minimum star rating is 5 stars. I don't have a firm maximum price right now. In the past we've gotten rooms in that zone for $160 to $190. Our stay there will be a little longer than past trips, so we are still deciding if we want to do the priceline thing and risk getting a room that we don't like for the entire stay. On past visits we have stayed in London for 2 or 3 nights, then moved on. On this trip we will be in London for the whole vacation. I will probably start bidding in the near future for around $160 and see what happens, as we still have 1 1/2 months. Thanks again for your service, and we will use your PRICELINE link.
7. Thank you for the information. I think we'll try to stay in the Mayfair area where we are used to the surroundings.
8. Yes. We are arriving Wednesday night April 18 and returning Monday April 23. We usually stay in the Mayfair zone, but my daughter has moved to the area of London Bridge, so I was contemplating that as a possible area to stay also. I have not started to bid yet, as it seems like a little too far in advance, but I'll probably start putting in some lowball bids soon. We've received the Intercontintal and the Marriott Park Lane in the past, with the help of your board. You provide a great service.
9. Priceline now gives you a 5 star option for the zone "The City and London Bridge". Your hotel list for that area of London only lists 4* and lower. Does anyone have any idea what hotel or hotels the 5* would be? Thanks.
10. Priceline now lists a 5 star option in that zone, but the hotel list at the beginning of the forum only lists 4 star hotels. Does anyone have an opinion on what hotel or hotels might be 5 stars in that zone. Thanks, Ray
11. Went up in $3 increments, won this at $75. Did use your PRICELINE link and thanks for your service. I know the location not actually being downtown irks some people, but being right by the airport works great for us.
12. Bid first $80, then $85, then $86. looking forward to the visit. Thanks for your service, and used your PRICELINE link.
13. Hey, I love the new system for reporting wins. Started to bid at $70, went up in $5 increments until won this. By the way, hotwire had this hotel at $117. Had bid up to $155 in the clearwater beach zone hoping to get the hyatt, but never was successful there. Bid through your PRICELINE link, and thanks for your service>
14. Thank you for the additional information. It's nice to hear from someone that stayed there and enjoyed it. So far the staff has been very helpful in adding my marriott number to the reservation and on room requests.
15. Had been going up to $180 or more with no luck. Most of the times on Hotwire, they did not have a 5* option for mayfair/soho, or if they did it was very expensive. Noticed on 8/31 that suddenly Hotwire had a 5* at $191. Bid 5* Mayfair/Soho on priceline that evening and won this on the first try. With taxes and fees, $394 for the 2 nights. Ray
16. We are traveling to London, Paris, and Brussells this fall. The majority of our time will be spent in Paris. I would like to bid on a 5* in central Paris. I snore heavily, though, and if we ended up with a room with a double bed, it could cause problems. I was wondering what size beds have people received with 5* bids in central Paris? I know that they only guarantee a room that will hold 2 people, but I'm hopeful at that star level the beds may be bigger, or the hotel would be more apt to accomodate a request for such. I was curious what your opinion is and what other people's experience has been. Thanks.
17. Bid $45, coutnered at $60, rebid at $49 and was accepted for this hotel. Used the site PRICELINE link. Thanks for your service. Ray
18. Started at $110 or so, worked up to $120 using the free rebid zones, then $1 increments after that until won the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza at $123. Used your PRICELINE link, and thanks for the help. Ray
19. Good luck and let us know how it goes. Started bidding tonight. 5* Mayfair/Soho $132, rejected. Added free rebid zones, rejected at $142 and $152, accepted at $161. Room Subtotal: $322.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $74.84 (USD) Total Room Cost: $396.84 (USD). Intercontinental London Park Lane 3/2/11 - 3/4/11 did not receive any counter offers. Upgraded my wife from a 3 star to a 5 star for only around $50 more per night, in a nicer part of town (had cancellable reservations for 180 pounds tax inclusive, which equals about $290.) Thank you very much for your service, and I did use your PRICELINE link. Ray
20. I currently have a reservation at 90 pounds inclusive of tax in a different part of town, so I would prefer to keep my maximum at $150 or so.
21. Would like to win a 5* in the mayfair soho area for less than $150 for 1 night 3/6 - 3/7. What do you think I can win 1 for? Thanks!
22. Hello again. I wrote to you several days ago about hotels in the LA area. I still have not finalized a deal there. My wife will be going over to visit my daughter, who lives in London, on the above dates (3/4 to 3/6 they will be traveling up to Edinburgh, and I already have a hotel reserved there). I would like to book her a 5* hotel for the lowest bid I can manage. I would like to just stay in the Mayfair Soho area, as I am looking for a zone that is pretty safe. I am a little nervous about the Marriott Park lane being up in the corner of that zone by the Marble Arch zone, as I remember that the Marble Arch area seemed a little sketchy when my daughter did a semester abroad there several years ago. What do you think I could get a 5 star in that zone for those dates for, and does anyone have any thoughts about the safety of the zone in general and the northwest corner in particular. Thanks again for all your help.
23. Thanks for all your help. Started at $90 and went up to $119 last night in $2 and $3 increments with no success (plus $5 bonus cash). Got a counter for +$35 at $115. With the winning bids on your site going for a fair amount less than that for earlier and later dates, decided to try periodically for a lower rate. I'll let you know when I finally win. Thanks again for all your help. Ray
24. Yes. I have 2 windows open when I am bidding, the window I am bidding in (that I link from your site) and another window with the same area but the days 1 day shorter, and before I rebid, I check the zone again in the non-bidding window to make sure it doesn't have the star level I am going for. I guess I am being paranoid to not include a 3 1/2 * zone when I am going for a 4 star. Do you think that is OK to add the 3 1/2* as a free rebid zone when you are going for a 4*?
25. Thank you very much for the excellent analysis. I think we'll go with trying to get a 4 star in Beverly Hills - / West Hollywood. I can always use Santa Monica as almost a free rebid zone, as we would not be disappointed if we ended up there. I'll probably go up to $115 now, and then hold off for a bit until the trip is closer. I am nervous about using the Redondo area as a free rebid zone - With a 3 1/2 star there, I don't like to get that close to the 4 star I'm going for. I've never tried HOTWIRE before, and I think I'll just stick with PRICELINE. Thanks again for all the input, and I'll let you know how it works out. Ray
