  1. We are flying out of Philadelphia at 7:15 am on 7/3/08. I want to get a hotel near the airport that has a shuttle and leave the car at the hotel while we are gone for 9 days. I am fine with a 1-3* property as long as the shuttle service runs early enough. I am unsure if I should make a direct reservation which would assure me of what I am getting, or go with Hotwire which lists amenities such as airport shuttles or if there is a Priceline airport location that regularly comes through when a particular star level is bid on in the airport location. Can anyone make a suggestion?
  2. I believe this is a new property on betterbidding I tried to get a 3* by starting at 58 and going up to 63 and adding regions to Harrisburg as I went - Harrisburg + Hershey + Carlisle with no luck I then dropped down to 2.5* but kept all of my locations. I got the Country Inn And Suites Harrisburg West 4943 Gettysburg Road Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania 17055 for $58 + 13.83 tax and fees - 71.83 Amenities: High-Speed Internet Indoor Pool Fitness Center Suites breakfast
  3. Our stay for this location is 3/8/08. Sorry it took me so long to notice I did not add the date.
  4. I was surprised to get this property. However it looks like it might be a new one for your Hotwire list. Based on the most recent post I thought it might be the Hilton that had a couple of changed amenities. It is going to have to be a rather special Holiday Inn to earn a 3*. With taxes, etc it came to $67.68. Listed amenities: Shuttle Fitness Center pool restaurant business center Laundry Internet neaby golf
  5. I believe this may be a new addition to your Hotwire list for this area. This is the La Quinta at 2447 Brice Road in Reynoldsburg near the airport region. The listed amenities were breakfast, internet connection and a pool. After taxes and fees the full price was 57.15.
  6. Here is the list of amenities from Hotwire: Hotel Amenities Airport Shuttle Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access
  7. I ended up booking through Hotwire. The $49 price tag through Hotwire became $62 after taxes, fees. The Hotel is the Clarion. It is described as a 3* The hotel description states they have complimentary wireless internet and an exercise facility, a restaurant as well as a seasonal pool. The reviews of this place are strongly mixed. It is possible that they have or are about to go through a renovation. Clarion Riverside Hotel 120 main Street East Rochester, New York 14604 (585) 546-6400
  8. Bidding never worked for those dates so we chose to stay at a B&B. It ended up being a nice deal to walk to everything.
  9. I bid for the same regions again for up to $59 and was rejected. I believe I will take the Hotwire deal for downtown 3* at $49. I just did not want to stay downtown.
  10. Started at $47 for Henrietta area. Added Downtown which has no 2.5* and bid $50. Added East and bid $53. All bids rejected at this point. I am trying to get South, but East will do. Will try again in a day or so.
  11. At this point I would say $67 for the 3* and $60 for the 2.5*. Thanks!
  12. Went through Savings barn and began bidding on a 3*. We started bidding at $51 for the - Brunswick-Bath Area, then added Freeport (which does not have a 3*) and bid $56, then added Lewiston-Auburn and bid $59 (also does not have 3*). All bids failed. We then added a 2.5* and took one shot at all three locations for $52. This bid failed as well. Any suggestions would be appreciated. We do want to be fairly near Freeport (10-12 miles max
  13. OOps! The hotel is Extended Stay America which people have won before. It is great to get since they have a kitchen. And since we'll be camping - we'll have food.
  14. This was a lengthy process to get this two star hotel. I started bidding for a 3* at $50 for this region (failed) and then added $2 plus the Portland West zone (failed) and then added $3 plus the Biddeford - Sacco region (failed). Then I started over with the 2.5 * and went through the steps of bidding $49, then $51 and then $52 in the same manner as above. Finally I started on the 2* level and bid $49 for the Portland Scarborough region and had success on the initial bid at this level. Although we would have liked the 3* it is just a way-point for the beginning of a camping journey in New Brunswick province. I accessed Priceline through Savings Barn.
  15. After failed bids up to $87 my wife obtained the Doubletree Hotel for $92.00. She used the Savingsbarn link. This is half of the rate quoted by her convention arrangers for the same hotel.
  16. I recall reading a post in the past where the person seeking a room was informed that many hotels had such high bookings that they were not likely to have success with a Priceline bid. However, my wife had success which I am reporting separately.
  17. Between the two and at the stated prices no, we have no preference. However, if your suggestion is to bid up to the max on 4* and then if that fails go to the 3* we can do that. I still wish I knew about local availability in general during that period.
  18. My wife is attending a convention in Philadelphia on 9/28 and departing on 10/02. We started bidding 4* at $68 and went to $83. Today she bid $83 on a 3*. All bids have been for downtown and all have been rejected. In the past I have read posts wherein the administrators seem to know the overall availability of rooms at a given location and time. Does anyone have the ability to determine how booked things are for downtown? We are willing to go to $100 for a 3* and $150 for 4* but after that the convention rates are competitive. Any suggestions are appreciated. thanks!
  19. You were correct. This is the Wyndham Hotel. The rate dropped since I last checked. Previoulsy, the rate was 92.00. Today when I checked it was 89.00. The Wyndham was booked for November, 19 for one night. Thanks for your help.
  20. The date of stay for San Antonio is 11/19/ 06 - departing on the 20th. thanks!
  21. This is apparently a new Hotwire location. It is described as a 3.5 star in the Riverwalk area. The amenities listed are: Fitness center, pool, restaurant and business center. The Hotwire price is $92. Any guesses what this might be? Thanks!
  22. I tried one more time to get a 4* through Priceline and went to $108 with no luck. I rechecked Hotwire and found the same offer from yesterday of $105 for $103 today. I got November 15-19, 2006 at the Crowne Plaza for $103 per night.
  23. Ok, I will continue my priceline/hotwire questions for this San Antonio - Riverwalk trip here. Update: I bid up to $86 on priceline for a 3 star with no luck. That is starting to get rather close to the $105 Hotwire offers for the 4* Hotwire has a 3* with Restaurant, Laundry and pool which I suspect is the Holiday Inn for $78. Hotwire also has a 2.5* Riverwalk area with a comp breakfast and pool (that is all that is listed) for $59. Any guesses as to what this property is? Thanks!
  24. Looking to stay in 4* on 11/15-19. Any idea what hotel this is? San Antonio Riverwalk 11/15-19 for $105 Listed amenities: Pool, Internet access, laundry, fitness center, business center. The price they list is $105. Thanks!
  25. I am going to a convention in San Antonio on 11/15-19. I tried to get a 4 star. I started at 84 and went up to 100 by adding zones (East, Med Center, South) with no luck. I might try one more time at around 110 by adding another zone. 1) Any suggestions for success for the 4*? 2) I may want to try to go to a 3* if the $110 bid fails. Is there any way I can try 3* without waiting 72 hours and also not accidently get the Med center area since I already included it in my 4* bid? Any bid suggestions for this level? Thanks!
