  1. :) This location was obtained through Hotwire. Stay far away from this Days Inn. It is not worthy of a a 2* or really even a 1*. The rooms smell moldy. The bed was not really clean. The shower area is old and outdated. While this place was just for a one nighter for a trip south it was very disappointing. There have been many poor reviews of this location. I am contacting Hotwire to ask them to reconsider the listing of this hotel.
  2. Sorry. The location is Petersburg, VA I believe that was the only Zone.
  3. After failing to get a 2.5* through Priceline (I have described that effort on the Princeline boad) I went to Hotwire and got the Days Inn. The amenities listed for this property are comp breakfast, Fitness Center, Pool and Restaurant. This may be a new property for the Better Bidding boad. I would urge caution for this particular hotel. It has some of the scarier reviews that I have seen for anything I have ever blind purchased. Because of the poor reviews it has received I will post a follow-up here next week. I used the HOTWIRE link for this purchase.
  4. I tried to get the Holiday Inn Express commented on in previous posts. This would have been for our first leg of a trip south. Yesterday I started at $39 and went to $41 adding Colonial Heights with no luck. Today I tried again going up to $43 and again adding Colonial Heights. All attempts failed. I did not want to exceed $43 for fear of getting something without the free breakfast offered by the Holiday Inn. So instead I took a Hotwire deal at $45 for a 2*. I have described that reservation on the Hotwire board. I used the PRICELINE link yesterday and today for these failed bids.
  5. Got this on the first bid. Used the Priceline/HOTWIRE link. This is just an overnighter on our way back home from spring break but looks like a nice place.
  6. Got this location on the first bid. It is our first Trip to Savannah. We are going there for spring break. Used the Priceline/HOTWIRE link. Along with my Restaurant.com certificates in the downtown area we should have a good time for less.
  7. It is spring break time for us. Because the downtown area was still pricey Saturday night we are breaking our Savannah stay into two parts. This location keeps us fairly close to downtown and a short hop to the Tybee Beach area. The amenities listed are comp breakfast, laundry, pool, business center. First time in Savannah for us. As always I used the Hotwire/PRICELINE links. The other part of our stay is through Priceline.
  8. First bid accepted at $40. We have stayed at this property once before and it is fine for an "on the way" stop. It is a fairtly straight shot to downtown Richmond where there are several fun things to do. Check out the Byrd Theatre - a grand old style movie theatre. We used the PRICELINE link. Thanks for this great resource.
  9. Ktichener hosts North Amerca's largest Oktoberfest. We have gone a few times before and have always enjoyed it. Good food and real beer. I bid $62 and my first bid was accepted. I've seen sucessful bids for the Radisson at $60 but I thought I'd begin a little higher due to Oktoberfest. I expected my first bid to be rejected and was plesantly surprised. Five years ago I had to bid $70 for the same property. We are staying two nights. I used your PRICELINE link. Thanks again for this service.
  10. Based on past success for this property I bid $50 for two nights 8/4 and 8/5, my first bid was accepted and I used your PRICELINE link. It looks like a nice place and good location. I only wish Baltmore parking was not so high. As always, thanks for this great service.
  11. Oops! I'm really sorry to forget to put that in. We stayed Wednesday, June 2. Also they serve a hot breakfast. Eggs, Sausage gravy and biscuits, fresh fruit, yogurt and so on.
  12. Got this location on the first bid of $43. With taxes, etc it came to $57.26. I used the PRICELINE link. As always, thanks for the service.
  13. Started Bidding at $47 for Richmond, VA - rejected; added Falls Church East (which does not have a 3*) and bid $49 - rejected. Added Tysons Corner/Falls Church and Bid $52 accepted for Residence Inn Tysons Corner Mall on Old Courthouse Road, technically in Vienna. Basic rooms are listed to start at $89 so this was not too bad. As always I used the PRICELINE link. After posting I noticed I did not put the $52 price in the topic title.
  14. I took what was for me an innovative approach. I started with a bid of $43 dollars for the dates noted above. I received a counter offer to add $12. There were no other free re-bid opportunities for this area. So instead of adding the $12 I instead changed the checkout date to the day before - the 8th and I added $4 to equal $47. That bid was accepted. I immediately received an offer to add a day for the same price which I did. So I got all of the days I wanted by adding $4 and not the $12 counter offer. I used the PRICELINE link for this location. Now its on to spring break.
  15. Taking a family member for a medical appointment at UPMC. Bid on two rooms. Total with tax and fees for both rooms came to $127.10. The hotel is only about 8 blocks away from the medical center and is in a straight line after turning out of the hotel. I used the PRICELINE link for the purchase. Thanks as always for this service.
  16. As noted, I did use the Princeline link that you have. However, I was unaware that you have a Restaurant.com link. Perhaps that could be more visible somewhere. I am a frequent user of Restaurant.com. On a separate note and perhaps this should be elewhere, I receive almot weekly emails from them with their regular discount promotions which involve entering a code at checkout. I wish there was some sort of ability for your site to automatically update their discount codes for everyone to see. I could post the codes but since they come out almost weekly not only would your pages get cluttered I would not have the ability to update all the time. Thanks again for this great service.
  17. This is for a last minute trip to Buffalo to help our son catch a flight tomorrow. The weather looked iffy so we decided to arrive tonight for tomorow's flight. I started bidding at $42 for a 3* in the airport region -rejected. Added south Buffalo for a free rebid and added $5 and was rejected again. Went to $55 and added Grand Island which has 3* properties and was accepted. I used the PRICELINE link for this deal. While Grand Island is a little out of the way for the airport I can live with it. I also found that the hotel restaurant is a Restaurant.com partner and today that site was having a 80% off sale. So I got a $25 certificate for about $3. Holiday Inn Grand Island 100 Whitehaven Road Grand Island, New York 14072 716-773-1111
  18. I tried bidding on a 2* in neighboring Lewisburg and was rejected at $45. I then went back in and bid $47 on a 3* in Williamsport and got the Holiday Inn. We are heading to a beekeepers conference in Lewisburg and Williamsport is just a short drive away. Since $102 is the quoted rate online this seems to be a good purchase. With taxes, fees the total came to 59.01 I used the PRICELINE link for this deal. Thanks for this great service.
  19. Our son is coming home for Thanksgiving which is of course a pricey time. Nebraska is also a tough state to fly in and out of when you are trying to fly cheaply. Unfortunately, travel arrangements could not be made until now so I tried some bidding through Priceline. Best non bid price was $396. I first bid $300. It was rejected and I was given the opportunity to re-bid flying out of a new airport (Grand Island, NE) which was only a half-hour from where our son is located at college. I knew I could not get a flight out of that airport but it did give me a free re-bid. I then bid $315 and it was accepted. Taxes brough it close to the "retail" price at a final price of 360.35 (USD). However, at least I got something for the effort. The airline is United. I used the PRICELINE link. Thanks again for this service.
  20. I believe this is a new listing for Better Bidding. I started bidding two days ago but was rejected at $55, $57 by adding Brush, CO which does not have a 2*. Today I bid $60 which was rejected and then bid $63 when I added Brush. This bid was accepted. This is no great bargain but choices are limited for this area. It is a stop over point headed east from Denver. I used the PRICELINE link. I forgot to add the stay date in the header which is 10/15/09. Days Inn Fort Morgan 1150 North Main Street I-76 Exit 80 Main Street Fort Morgan, Colorado 80701 970-542-0844
  21. As a final follow up I did not get the room through Priceline but here is what happened. On separate days (since there is not a second Hastings zone) I bid $45, 50, 55, and $60. When I bid $60 I received a counter offer to add $17. I chose not to do so since I received a better rate by calling a particular hotel directly. I am fairly certain that the Priceline bidding Hotel is the Holiday Inn Express which is actually located in the northern end of town. The link below shows the actual location of the hotel. http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/ex/1/en/h...rtation?start=1 The google map incorrectly shows the hotel location well south of town and that is the map that Priceline is using for the bidding process to identify a zone. I used the PRICELINE link for my bidding attempts.
  22. That is the one I am thinking as well and it is mapped incorrectly on Google. The location is actually in town. I will let you know what I learn after I bid. thanks!
  23. Thanks. I understand that I "should" go by the map parameters. It is just that I used to live there and where the map is drawn there is nothing but towns of 5-800 people and many, many cows. I honestly think the map is in error on this one. My wife said go ahead and gamble and see. We are taking our son there to begin his first year of college. Thanks for responding. FYI - I always try to remember to use the links.
  24. I tried bidding on Priceline for a 3* in the Western part of Omaha and bid up to $46. I gave up after that and went to Hotwire for a 2.5*. I'm a little disappointed in the results since La Quinta has gone down hill in recent years but at least this is cheap. Amenities were: Comp breakfast and internet I used the HOTWIRE link. I believe this is a new property for you. Hotel Hotel rate per night - Hotwire hot Rate: $41.00 Nights: 1 Rooms: 1 Subtotal: $41.00 Tax recovery charges and fees: $12.53 Total price: $53.53 Total charges to your credit card $53.53
