  1. Thanks, Abn_Ranger06. I did read your report while doing my "homework" for my Denver hotel strategy. Of course, at that point I never imagined getting the Sheraton as I wasn't bidding on a 3*. Hubby and I even discussed your situation and wondered what we would do if the hotel was overbooked. We won't have a car and need to be in the downtown area, so going to the Four Points property wouldn't work for us at all. What would you have done had the Crown Plaza not been available?
  2. Used this PRICELINE link and started at $15. Won the car rental for $23...a bit cheaper than the HOTWIRE price.
  3. I checked out the Denver Sheraton's renovation website and it appears that they are undergoing quite a transformation. Luckily, only the Club Lounge, and NOT the pool (whew!) will be closed. Hey, it may have been an unexpected surprise but how bad can a 3.5* property be? I'm sure it'll be great and I'll post an update when we return from our vacation.
  4. Gosh...I'm not blaming anyone, Yellowdog. I'm aware of the risks involved and since someone had just posted a 3* Sheraton win in May it was just a big surprise to see it pop up as a 3.5* win for me. I am curious, however, as to what now makes this property a 3.5* versus a 3*. Would you know why PRICELINE upgraded this hotel?
  5. I've been trying to win a 4* in Downtown Denver for several days now but just wasn't willing to go as high as $70. Used this PRICELINE link and went up to $67 with no success. I then closed my browser, re-accessed Priceline, and began bidding for a 3.5* property. Started at $45 and received a message to up my bid by $13. Instead, I just started bidding at $1/$2 increments till I won the Sheraton Denver Hotel for $52. I was shocked because Betterbidding's hotel list has this property as a 3* but I checked it out and it seems fine. The location is excellent...close to the ballpark and other downtown activities and there's a heated outdoor pool so I'm very pleased with my win. Please update this hotel on your Downtown Denver list.
  6. Aha...so that's how you get the time. See, I never see the rejection email as it goes to hubby's inbox. Ever so often he'll express his annoyance at receiving constant Priceline notifications on the days I bid...but he sure does like the savings! Too bad Priceline doesn't list the time on the My Trips page. Oh well, guess I'll just need to note the time from now on. Thanks for your quick reply:)
  7. Is there a way to click on something under My Trips or elsewhere to see the time I last bid? I am presently bidding for hotels in 3 different cities and for a car in a 4th city and it is terribly frustrating to enter all the Priceline bidding info only to discover that I am locked out. Grrr...I guess I should have written it down but am open to any tips you folks have on how you keep track of the time you last placed your bids.
  8. Time for our annual baseball trip and we wanted a hotel near the ballpark. Used the PRICELINE link and got the Hilton Americas for $64. We've stayed at plenty of Hilton properties but I'm not at all familiar with the Hilton Americas brand so, hopefully, it'll be a good experience.
  9. Oh, sorry...no, I am pretty confident that the HOTWIRE hotel is the Sheraton. I'm just trying to determine if I should risk getting the Monaco if I bid on PRICELINE. After checking out the Denver Priceline wins I think it's doubtful that I'll end up with the Monaco so I think I'll risk it. Wish me luck!
  10. Hey, thereuare! When I posted my wining bid in the Boston area earlier this week yellowdog responded so I thought you were on vacation! Quick question. We're coming to Denver for hubby's annual birthday/baseball trip...after this summer only 2/3 parks left to see! We want a 3.5* or 4* in downtown Denver and it would be nice to spend some time relaxing in a pool during this visit. Hotel Monaco is the only DT hotel without a pool. Wonder what the odds are that we get that property? Last time (that I can tell) anyone won this was in 6/07. Whaddayathink?
  11. Thanks. Would this be the Sheraton that used to be the Adams Mark Hotel or the Crown Plaza? PS Are you kidding? I am so grateful to BetterBidding for teaching me how to use PRICELINE / Hotw.ire that I wouldn't dream of bidding any other way!
  12. Looking to stay in downtown Denver so we can be near the ball park. Usually bid via Priceline but one 4* hotel does not have a pool so I'm a little nervous about using Priceline...it would be just my luck to get that one! There's a 3.5* hotel on Hotwire with the following amenities: ~ fitness center ~ pool ~ restaurants ~ business center ~ laundry facilities ~ golf nearby Can any of you good folks help ID this property?
  13. There were 3 zones: Marlborough - Hudson Shrewsbury - Northborough Westborough I would have been happy in Marlborough or Westborough. Of course, I used this PRICELINE link. Started Monday at $34 and went to $36..rejected. Yesterday I started at $35, went to $37...rejected again. Today I started at $36, then $37 and was successful at $38...yay! Maybe I would have done better had I waited till July but I'm happy with my win!
  14. Looking to book a room at the London Heathrow airport and could use some assistance in identifying the hotels listed below. 4 * at $59 Fitness center Restaurant Business center High speed internet ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3.5* at $63 Restaurant Business center ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2.5* at $62 Fitness center Restaurant Business center High speed internet Tennis nearby
  15. Heading to Phoenix for Spring Training and could not believe the prices for car rentals there. I've been trying for the past 2 weeks...starting at $10 (ok, but ya never know) and by today I was up to $16 but Priceline rejected that, as well as $17, but finally accepted $18. Under $222 for the week is a huge savings off of every car rental site I've tried so I'm happy. Thanks Betterbidding for teaching me how to bid and, of course, I used your PRICELINE link. Cactus League here we come!
  16. Couldn't come out to San Francisco without spending some time in wine country, could we? Began bidding at $60 for 4 star properties and was rejected. Dropped to 3.5 stars and bid $65 which was rejected but $66 got us the Hilton in Santa Rosa. Yay, now I just hope the weather will be with us when we hit the wineries. Salud...Salute...Skal...L'Chayim to everyone at BetterBidding!
  17. Used this site to bid on PRICELINE for four nights in San Francisco. Had no luck bidding on the 4 star properties going up to the high $90's (sorry, I just can't remember the exact amount I bid). Dropped to 3.5 stars and got the Sheraton at Fisherman's Wharf for $80 after my $77 bid was rejected. I'm happy with that and am looking forward to relaxing around the Sheraton's famous fire pits. Thanks, BetterBidding, for teaching me how to bid!
  18. Used this site to bid on PRICELINE. First bid of $55 was accepted...great price for Labor Day weekend!
  19. Wanted to report on our one night stay last week at the Hyatt, located in the downtown area of Vancouver. Just a block or two from the famous Robson Street, it is perfectly situated for those dependent on public transportation as it
  20. I was a little apprehensive when we checked into the Westin as I had used Priceline for the first time ever and was prepared to be given the worst available room. My concerns were groundless when I saw our spectacular waterfront and city views from the 36th floor of the North tower. The hotel lobby is very large
  21. Thank you, Colfax. I was considering bidding on PRICELINE for a 2.5* but tried for a 3* and just won the Airport Hilton for 7/26 for $59...yay! Used this website's PRICELINE link and started at $54...Priceline suggested I raise my bid $15...no way. Went to $55/$56/$57 and my last bid opportunity for today for a 3* was accepted at $59. Kudos to all of you at Betterbidding for your great tips and suggestions...you folks are the best!
  22. Thank you for your quick response, tilepusher. I just checked some reviews of this place...eeuw! I think I'll stay away from HOTWIRE and take my chances with PRICELINE. Thanks again!
  23. A two star Seattle airport hotel is listed on HOTWIRE for $56 for the night of 7/26/08. Amenities include: 1) Breakfast 2) High Speed Internet Access 3) Pool Can you please identify this hotel? Thank you!
  24. Success! Priceline just accepted my bid for 7/22 (one night stay) for $125 at the Hyatt Regency ...woohoo! Used this site's PRICELINE link and started at $118/received counter offer to add $22/declined and bid $120/$121/$122 and my final opportunity at $125 was accepted. This site has been incredible...thank you sooo much!
