  1. Z! Nothing gets by you!! I too noticed that and wonder if taxes have gone up in that area. The Wed 26 Mar 03 Sheraton LAX booking was booked on 20 Jan 03 with tax $4.36. The Thurs 27 Mar 03 Sheraton Lax booking was booked on 05 Mar 03 with tax $4.50. I too noticed that the previous posting by SpitFire20003 was for the same $32 with tax of $4.50. Go figure! :)
  2. Thanks ThereUAre but I cannot hold a candle to your "savviness" in running a board like this!! :)
  3. It is in the Ft. Mitchell - Ft. Wright Hotwire zone just SW of DT Cincinnati. :) Cincinnati, OH "Ft. Mitchell - Ft. Wright This suburban area of residential neighborhoods and office parks is located on the Kentucky side of the Ohio River, about five miles from both downtown Cincinnati and the airport. Check out the Vent Haven Museum, dedicated to the art of ventriloquism and featuring more than 500 dummies. Visit Fort Mitchell's American Museum of Brewing History, at the Oldenburg Estate, containing the world's largest collection of beer memorabilia. Shop at the 130-store Florence Mall -- the largest in Kentucky. Place your bets at nearby Turfway Park, the region's Mecca of thoroughbred horse racing. Catch NASCAR action down the road in Sparta at the Kentucky Speedway. It's less than a 30-minute drive to Indiana's Argosy Casino and Perfect North Slopes, a small ski area. Drive across the Roebling Suspension Bridge to downtown Cincinnati attractions.
  4. The Holiday Inn map has it in the Florence - Ft. Mitchell PriceLine zone just SW of DT Cincinnati. :)

  6. Z!, You are so right! I am finding time and time again that I am getting the best deals thru the airlines' websites & the schedule I want and need! :)

  10. The only Bonus money I am aware of right now (March 03) is on the PL/HK site. But it expires soon. Go to the site and you can follow the easy steps to Hong Kong $. Remember, there are 7.8 HK$ to 1 US$.
  11. If possible, please give us all more details on taxes and fees.Tks! :)
  12. Fairfield Inn Durham Check-In Date: March 8, 2003 Check-Out Date: March 10, 2003 Durham 3710 Hillsborough Road Durham, North Carolina 27705 Your Offer Price: $22.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $44.00 Taxes: $5.76 Processing Fee: $5.95 Total Charges: $55.71 If the 11% tax rate for Durham is correct, then PL paid $26/nite for this room. This does not happen often where PL cuts into their profits/processing fees to make a deal! In fact, if this is true, then PL donated $2 towards my room charge! Or am I missing something folks?!?
  13. Also, if possible, please post taxes paid so we all can figure what PL paid for the room. Tks! :)
  14. GLeff, if you find the time plz be so kind to give us all a review of this hotel. Is it near the Royal HorseGuard Hotel? Tks! :)
  15. It has been reported, "The Weblog of Gary Leff Saturday, February 22, 2003 Four Star Hotels on the Cheap "I''ve just posted 23 of my successful Priceline bids over at BetterBidding.com..." Both sites help you make the most of Priceline bidding, especially for hotels. Successful bids get posted. Users basically "plot the supply curve" to figure out the best prices available on priceline, and build a list of hotels that Priceline uses in each category. The sites also offer tips and tricks to get the best deals. I highly recommend checking them both out. They're excellent resources." :)
  16. Thanks again for posting the taxes. It will help me in my bidding for that zone. If the tax rate for that zone is the reported 6% then PriceLine paid $37 for each of your rooms. Nice! :)
  17. If possible, please post taxes for our information. Thanks! :)
  18. ThereUAre, taking on the job of setting up this fabulous site is a monumental task, I am sure, and you have done an admirable job! Again thank you for allowing me to share my PL travels and to learn lots from other Priceliners! Would a user changing the Text Size under the View menu above help resolve some of the desktop territory concerns?
  19. Is your Candlewood Suites like Homestead Suites and have just 1 Queen Bed? This is very important to know for folks that want to squeeze 3 or 4 folks in a room. So many hotels are doing that now is important to know in advance before bidding on Priceline because many hotel will handle out special rooms to Priceline folks! Yes, it happens often!
  20. Burbunny is so right! I almost always call the hotel DIRECTLY after my bid is accepted to make my special requests: NON-smoking, bed type, low floor, etc. I think only once my requests were not honored. Even on PL bids, I think most hotels want repeat customers! :)
  21. The following is the latest response from Priceline that clarifies the issue. Car bidding in the news report IS selling new cars and NOT Rental Car bidding! "Dear Sir, Thank you for taking the time to send us an e-mail. We understand you are inquiring if priceline.com sells new cars on its website. Mr. Turner, Priceline has discontinued the selling of new automobiles so that we can focus our resources on Airline Tickets, Hotel Rooms, Rental Cars and Vacations. If you have any further questions, please reply to this message and your email will go directly to an agent. We look forward to serving your future travel needs. Sincerely, Janak J. The priceline.com Customer Service Team" Zbenye is on the mark about clues with Hotwire. When will PL wake up?!?
  22. As a footnote to the NY Times article on PL. PL's car bidding will now be done thru their LowestFare.Com website. I do agree with ThereUAre that PL's hotel bidding is their true gem and the greates bargain around!
  23. It has been reported, "The number of Priceline airline tickets sold dropped sharply
  24. $37 for an ES room is a steal! Congrats and thanks for sharing! You are a true Savvy BetterBidder!
