  1. Haven't been around this board in a while, since I've mostly been traveling international. Anyway, I used the guide/links to book the Renaissance Washington DC Downtown hotel for 2/11/16-2/13/16 via PRICELINE EXPRESS. The amenity set you have listed in the guide is what I saw before booking: Free internet, Fitness center, Restaurant, Business Center. Here is the complete amenity list, visible after booking: Free Internet (in Public Area) Spa Non-Smoking Gym Restaurant Handicap Accessible Business Center
  2. I wanted to stay at the Teatro for my last night in Colorado (camping mostly) and it was $184 on Hot.wire 2 weeks ago, but it disappeared and never came back for my dates. The only other 4 star was the Warwick for $140, but it's pretty far from downtown Denver. I saw the Aloft at DIA for $117 and figured why not. Pretty easy to ID--how many botique hotels are there in Aurora? Free Parking Free Internet Pet friendly Boutique Hotel Indoor pool(s) Airport Shuttle Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center Internet access
  3. This one was easy. There's only one reported 3.5 hotel in Fishkill and it's the Hyatt House. The amenities haven't changed. Used the HOTWIRE links.
  4. Been bidding for a few days, mostly from $110-$130 because I ID-ed the New Yorker Ramada Hotel for that price on HOTWIRE. Decided against that hotel due to the reportedly small rooms, worn facilities, and I figured the low price was related to their recently-begun renovation. Saw a 4* for $150 in CPS on PRICELINE EXPRESS, but it only had a 7.0 guest score. So I decided to bid $130 on CPS, no go but got a $160 counterbid, added Midtown West and $135 and got $155 counterbid, then added another zone which I forgot and $140. Accepted by the Renaissance Hotel 57. Used the PRICELINE links.
  5. Stayed here last minute when I couldn't get a campsite in Sequoia. Amenities: Free Parking Pool Indoor Pool Fitness Center Restaurant Laundry Used the HOTWIRE link
  6. Guess this is a new one. Amenities: Free Parking Free Breakfast Pet friendly Indoor pool(s) Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Internet access Used the HOTWIRE link.
  7. I thought I ID'ed the Omni on hotwire @ $140, and that was the cheapest 4* I saw listed in the city. Decided to just toss a lowball number into PL to see what turned up, and got the Marriott for $92 on the first try. Used the link.
  8. I'm going to camp at the Grand Canyon next week, so I decided to overnight in Vegas the night before, cutting an 8 hr drive into two 4 hr drives. Since I'm just sleeping, I decided to downgrade myself to a 3*. I ID'ed the Tuscany for $28/night on Hotwire, and used the special 1 day only $20 off any hotel coupon Hotwire sent out this morning to snag this for $17 all included + $15 resort fee. Amenities: 3-star Hotel in East of Strip This Hotel features the following amenities: Free Parking Free Internet Suite Casino Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) Golf Nearby Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Wheelchair accessible Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower
  9. I've seen this 4.5* on Hotwire for my dates for a while now. Not a fantastic sticker price, considering that the Teatro can be had for $161 on Expedia for my dates, but I figured I'd use my $20 off Entertainment Book rebate on this one. Features are: Amenities Free Internet Boutique Hotel Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking I used the HOTWIRE link.
  10. I bid $90 + $4 in PL cash for a 4* in Dupont Circle and got shot down. Then I added White House and rebid at $95 + $4 PL cash, because I had seen a 4* on Hotwire in that zone from 5/9-5/13 for $113. Got the Marriott at Wardman Park instead. I've stayed at the Marriott before and found it convenient, although not in a zone that has much charm. Works for me. Used the links.
  11. Had a reservation for $139 all in from Budget in downtown Denver, but I was worried about the fact that it's 1 hr from the airport to downtown, my flight arrives at 4, and the agency closes at 6:30. A 1-2 hr flight delay would kill me. Renting from DEN was going to be $300 through Costco, so I threw in a bid for $28 + $3 in PL cash. Accepted by Hertz, for a total price of $161. Not the best deal for a weekend rental (I'm renting Thursday evening through Monday evening), but I figure the peace of mind is worth it. Used the PRICELINE links
  12. I saw a 4* on HOTWIRE in OP for $84/night, which I figured as the Sheraton. I bid $55 for a 3.5* in Overland Park on PL, since there was no 4* option for that zone (which meant I wasn't guaranteed the Sheraton). Got a counteroffer for $68. I saw a 3.5* on HOTWIRE for $68 in Overland Park, so I added the Lenexa Zone for a rebid at $59 and got the Marriott. Looks fine...I mainly want a hotel with a decent fitness center. Used the PRICELINE links.
  13. I've seen what I assumed was the Holiday Inn on HOTWIRE for a while at around $80/night, so I bid $52 for a 2.5* in Emporia. Got the Fairfield Inn. The reviews aren't great, but I suppose there's no such thing as a nice hotel in small-town Kansas. I'm hoping I can get my work done there and never have to come back. :) Used the PRICELINE link.
  14. I'm planning a hiking trip to CO, and I saw this on Hotwire. Pretty easy to match up with the Westin, and it worked like a charm: Free Parking <amenity names only please... not descriptions> Indoor pool(s) <amenity names only please... not descriptions> Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Used the HOTWIRE link.
  15. It's Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower
  16. Got a HOTWIRE promo for $20 off any Hotwire booking made today, 3/1. I saw this amenity set: Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Figured it was the Sheraton, since the Westin amenity set listed "spa." Turned out to be the Westin, though, which looks fine. Used the HOTWIRE link.
  17. I've been bidding $90 for a few weeks to fill the last night of my DC trip. I found a 4 star on HOTWIRE that I pegged as either the Dupont Circle Hotel or the Washington Hilton for $115. I decided to go for it with a $100 bid, which was accepted by the Washington Hilton. Hopefully it's OK. I've always been lucky to get the Dupont Circle Hotel or the Palomar in this zone, but I figure a single night stay on a Monday is going to be a pain no matter what. Used the links for both the HOTWIRE search and the PRICELINE bid.
  18. Ugh...I saw a 3* on Hotwire that I thought was the Best Western, so I bid $53 for the Airport South. Didn't get it, so I bid $56 for Airport South + North. Ended up with the Clarion Hotel Airport, which is apparently one of the worst hotels in the zone. Thank God I'm only staying a few hours--from the reviews, it sounds like I'll have to spend the night wrapped in cellophane to avoid numerous bedbugs and ants.
  19. Used the PRICELINE link. I IDed the Sheraton for $79 on Hotwire in early December, so I bid $70. Pretty easy, considering there aren't a whole lot of 3.5*'s in Iowa City AFAIK.
  20. Used the link, and bid $83-$90 + $7 PL bonus cash, in increasing increments, starting with Dupont, then WH Downtown, then Convention Center. Got the Westin for $90 + $7 bonus. That's just so-so IMO...the Westin was newly renovated last time I was there but the location is basically a dead zone--nothing really going on there.
  21. Used the PRICELINE link...Bid $90 + $7 bonus cash for a 4* in Dupont on a lark, and the Palomar came up right away. I tried extending to include the night of 2/25-26 as well, but that failed.
  22. Yes, I was trying to get to bed last night so I was a bit too brief. The pool was listed as Indoor Pool.
  23. I've been tracking this for a while now. They have the 3.5* in Iowa City, which I figured for the Sheraton, a 3* with Pool, Laundry, Free Parking, Fitness Center, Business Center, and Laundry, which I figured for the Holiday Inn, and a 2* with Free Breakfast and Internet, which I figured to be the Clarion. I liked the photos of the HI's fitness room better, so I went with them.
  24. I saw the other thread for approximately my dates, so I tried bidding 4* Dupont Circle $80, and got a counteroffer of $96. I backed out and added the White House, bid $85, and got the Dupont Circle Hotel.
  25. I've been bidding $90-$120 for 3.5-4* hotels in the Dupont, White House, and Capitol Hill zones for the last 2 months to no avail. Today I went for a 4* in all three zones for $135...nothing. Then 3.5* for $125..nothing. Finally 3* for $120 and got this hotel. It seems just OK, but I'll be flying in on the red eye to Philly, train to DC, and then research at the Library of Congress. I'll probably be too tired to care, and I'm staying at the very posh Dupont Circle Hotel on the 21st (already made a thread about that). FYI, I googled around and there are tons of conventions in town that week. This is the most I've ever had to pay for a hotel in DC, and I've stayed in the best (thanks to PRICELINE). I've been using the HOTWIRE / PRICELINE links throughout.
