  1. Sun 7/1 1 night 65.00 amenities: Fitness Ctr Pool High Speed Internet access free parking Happy with this....we actually stayed @ another motel right next to this in May...I remember seeing this hotel & thinking how nice it looked...from the outside....but it looked pretty new... :D
  2. Sat 6/30 1 night 42.00 amenities: Pool Free Breakfast High speed internet access free internet fitness center free parking ....we have never stayed in a Jameson Inn, but I assume they are a southern chain...its rated the #2 hotel in Oak ridge on tripadvisor....got great reviews... :)
  3. Just an FYI for anyone trying to win a hotel near the airport to leave their car there while traveling...NONE of the hotels will let you do that if you do not purchase one of the park, ride, fly pkgs which are not offered thru priceline - hotwire....when we park @ the airport, we use Executive Valet Parking...they offer the option of buying a "pre-paid" voucher for multiple day parking & are reasonably priced...the only catch is you have to buy it I believe a few days before you are traveling...but we think its worth it...
  4. 3* - 66.00 - 6/29 Harrisonburg SOUTH Business ctr smoke free pool restaurant laundry High speed internet golf nearby we are still gathering reviews for this property it ended up being The Village Inn surprisingly enough....mixed feelings on it...I'm not saying its a bad win, as it shows this as the #2 rated hotel on Tripadvisor for Harrisonburg...my feelings on it not being a great win is that when I went on their website, retail for that night was 75.00...so minimal savings :( ....oh well...I hope it nice at least...
  5. Hi...so i have been using this site for a while now, & love the help that you provide!!...My question is, I have been looking over the website for a few days now, & cant seem to find a topic on how to possibly explain how to create my own bidding stategy that my be close to correct on how you do it? I dont mind asking for help, but for instance last week I was trying to do a "last minute" bid on a hotel, as we wanted to switch out of a hotel we had booked conventionally w/ a AAA rate & I tried to come up with my own strategy, in an area that had 2 zones that would have been acceptable with I think 3 free rebid zones but I know I did something wrong along the way, as PL recognized something I did & said I cant proceed because I had already tried an area... My stumbling block is not the free rebid zones...as I know how to figure the free rebid zones by checking one zone at a time & making sure rebid zone only has lower * properties therefore making it "impossible" per say to get stuck in that zone... It is the method of how the adding of other zones & mixing & changing zones around to trick the system into thinking its a new search...it changes all the time depending on how many zones are acceptable that you dont mind staying in along with the # of rebid zones each area ends up having... hopefully what I am asking makes sense???... Allie
  6. Hi y'alli :) ....lol...everyone here in Tennessee is sooo nice...be sure to visit if you get the chance!...we stayed @ the Embassy Suites for AAA rate for first nite...everything so full due to big "Memphis in may" festival...decided to try & switch after sat night over & hotels emptied out... So....tried to bid in Memphis on 3*...downtown & Memphis east using PRICELINE link...got to 59.00 & got message about if increased bid to 72.00 could secure a room so knew we were close.....then boom...PRICELINE freezes...& lost Internet connection...ugh Long story short...couldn't access into my price line acct for some glitchy reason....had to create new PL acct off sons cell phone in his name...just did a 68.00 bid for 3* Memphis Downtown & Memphis east zones & won Courtysrd by Marriott East 6015 Park Ave...2 rooms... Crazy computers drive me nuts when they glitch....especially in middle of something important...thank goodness at lest for sons "smart phone"
  7. Hi...we are here now...now that sat nite is over looking to try &bid for 2 rooms in Southaven MS....3*...I feel most comfortable going with the 5 rebid zones to reduce chance of winning a 2.5 hotel that may be too far from Southaven so looking to only use rebid zones that have up to 2*...want to cap my price at 65.00 ...can u give me a bidding strategy?...Ty so much Allie
  8. VERY tempting but I am tooooo chicken to risk it... :o ...cannot get stuck with one bed & no pull-out....
  9. ok so now that trip is 2 weeks away...played on hotwire today....its giving me an option of a suite in a 3* in East Memphis @ 88.00 p/n can anyone help identify??.. recommended 95% of hotwire reviews...amenities... Free Parking Complimentary Breakfast Suite Airport shuttle fitness center pools business center laundry facilities (self serve) this hotel search makes me wonder though...although it says suite, this hotel ONLY appears when I put in 2 people...if I up it to 3 or 4 it does not come up in the search...sounds pretty risky that it would have the separate bedroom/sleeping area....i guess I couldnt be so lucky that this is the embassy suites....their price for these days is still @ 144.00.... Thanx...Alison
  10. thereuare...thanx for the info...i must have missed out on that pricing because it is now up to 144.00 for sun & mon... :( ...i will keep checking website periodically...maybe i will luck out in a price drop...
  11. Hi....we are paying 130.00 for sat & sun...then 139.00 for monday....adding taxes it comes to about 460.00 for 3 nights (double occupancy all AAA rate)...i havent paid these kind of prices since i found your fantastic site!! ....i do realize my "problem" is the sleeping arrangements we need....not as easy as goin with the hubby & just needed the 1 bed & no "separation" of sleeping areas...i didnt realize u had links to book non-opaque purchases....i am assuming to do this i need to cancel my exsiting reservation & rebook thru link...sigh...i just wish i cud do better on this purchase :(
  12. well thanx for the info....not much comes up when i search hotwire & put in 3+ people....as of now I have "conventional" booking on my AAA rate @ Embassy Suites in Memphis....it has the separate bedroom & we will get a full cooked to order breakfast....although I HATE booking rooms thru actual hotel websites!!!...if anyone has any ideas on how to book this hotel on any web site cheaper I am all ears!!
  13. Hi...need to travel to Memphis on 5/19 - 5/22 to research living options for my son who will be moving there in Aug to attend Univ of Tenn @ Health sciences campus...have just bought our flight & need help on a good area to stay...I am thinking that because we need 2 beds FOR SURE.., I should be looking to book on hotwire to assure bedding choices?...also, possibly hoping to obtain something like a Residence Inn or something, that may have a separated sleeping area??....for the last nite there I would also assume it may be best to just stay out nearer the airport, as our flight is an am departure & dont need to spend more $$ to be nearer the city....do the hotels "in" Memphis charge for parking?...ANY help from someone familiar with Memphis area would be MUCH appreciated!!! Thanx...Allie
  14. hello all...as i type i am just about picking myself up off the floor... ...decided for a ha ha to just try a quickie low ball bid for a 4* Inner Harbor for 3/26 for 2 nites...i had a BIG bite on the FIRST bid!!! bid $80.00....ACCEPTED... Baltimore Marriott Waterfront $80.00 p/n $32.86 taxes/fees $192.86 total I am not kidding...the prices for this hotel on conventional booking sites for these days is $299.00.... ...now I must go do my "i got an awesome deal" boogie... :P...WOWZA
  15. going to try priceline for 4* baltimore inner harbor for 2 nights....i can see 8 rebid zones & no zones other than Inner Harbor have a 4*...I assume I shud come up with my max $$ amount i want to spend per night, then bid up in $5 increments until i reach that max price I want to pay?...prices are high conventional booking, over 220.00...so not sure how lucky this bidding will be...
  16. wow...finally had some success...took a LONG time for bids to go thru...failed all yesterday....spent mucho time researching maybe just a purchase on LMT....didnt like choices...decided to split the bid as Monday is the problem child day.. had my husband bid as it hadnt been 24 hrs wait on mine... Selected 4* Convention Center and White House... Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $93, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $98, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $100, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE Selected 4* Convention Center and Dupont Circle... Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $93, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $98, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $100, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE Selected 4* Convention Center, Dupont Circle, White House... Bid $103, ACCEPTED... 4* Dupont Circle Hotel 3/24 - 2 nites 103.00 p/n 37.52 taxes/fees 243.52 total NOW...i need to try bidding on Baltimore Inner Harbor, as we are going to hang in D.C. till Monday pm...take the marc back up to Baltimore & do the inner harbor for tue & wed...flyin home late wed pm... Bidding strategy should be easy I am thinking as there are i think 8 - 9 rebid zones & none have 4* except inner harbor, so I assume just decide on my max $$ & figure out $$ amount in $5.00 increments to arrive at my max??? unfortunately the Orioles are starting play & right now the 4* hotels are just as pricey as D.C....unless we decide to hit up the Courtyard by marriott on New York ave area of DC (reviews say the area is sketchy) for monday nite for about 96.00 & then do inner harbor for the 1 night...these prices remind me of summer prices!!
  17. Thereuare..Ty for the area help...I would like to try & bid I guess in any of these zones a 4* for 3/24/12 for 3 nights....at this time I am going to say my max bid will be $120.00...based on my research thru BEAV's posting on identifying hotels on lastminutetravel.com I can get a 4* & have identified it as a Washington Marriott for 143.00 p/n...also, if i decide to just stay 2 nites in D.C. & then head back up to Baltimore inner harbor Monday night instead of Tues morning...I can get the 4.5* Ritz Carlton for $143.00 P/N!!!...that is almost too hard to resist!! :o ...I will also be looking for bidding strategy for the Baltimore inner harbor for 1 or 2 nites....should I start a new topic for that portion?...I want to get this part of trip done first, as I believe this will be harder to win than the Baltimore nites THANK YOU!!!....ally... :)
  18. Hi...Hubby & I are trying to plan a trip to D.C. either mid to late march...since neither of us have been to DC since we were very small, we are hoping maybe someone can help us decide which area to try & bid for a hotel...we are going to fly into BWI & then take train into DC....might even possibly "hotwire" a purchase if I can research what area is a good location to stay...will be looking for most likely a 4* hotel....want to do the basics for visitors...monuments, museums, dinner, maybe some puttering around some shops...Thanx!!!
  19. Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $88, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $95 Had to go all the way to the $95.00...but accepted!! 4* Ames 1 room 3 nights $95.00 p/n $285.00 - room $52.32 - taxes/fees $337.32 - total Hopefully it's a nice hotel....rates online are $155.00 so we got a good % off...looks a bit modern, but its centrally located where we wanted to be...taking the "T" in from outskirts of Boston so we wont be paying for parking ;) Happy Holidays!!
  20. Hi - Looking for a bidding strategy for 12/19 - 12/22 for a 4* hotel in Boston - Looking at this point to bid only in the Quincy Mkt/Financial or Harborfront/Aquarium zones at this time....this is just a last minute getaway, so looking to first see if I can obtain any "bites" staying at a max bid of approx 90.00...If after a day or two with no success I can adjust my max $$ amounts on my own...It looks as though at the 4* level I have 5 rebid zones to work with....if all of this fails I can ask for a new strategy adding maybe theatre distict or maybe beacon hill....but I want to try just the 2 zones to start... ...Thank you!! Allie
  21. Forgot to list this....clicked thru HOTWIRE link... :) TY again for this great site & your help!!
  22. Well...here's the update.... did the 2 adults/2 children per your suggestion...YUP it's the Holiday Inn Express... :) ....very happy...this hotel shows fantastic reviews... Holiday Inn Express & Suites Lathrop-South Stockton 15688 South Harlan Road Lathrop, CA, 95330 (209) 373-2700 Amenities listed: Complimentary breakfast, Business center, Fitness Center, Self-service laundry facilities, Pool(s), High-speed internet access $57.00 room $11.71 taxes/fees $68.71 total vacations rock!!... :)
  23. Hi - I do see the option now with using 2 adults /2children coming up with the amenities you listed which does now match the Holiday Inn Express!!....We would be happy with either the Hampton Inn (i guess it is pretty new) or the Holiday Inn Express as it is getting great reviews!!...I am hoping to avoid the Best Western....just personal experience w/ that chain hasnt been great....are we relatively safe from getting that hotel?... as for the rental car situation....we will be taking the "bart" into SF from the airport & Enterprise will pick us up from whatever hotel is closest to where we decide to get off...:)....when we return car they will dropp us at the Adagio.... Mostly trying to decide if the trvel/time etc... added to getting car from "in town" is worth the extra time/effort...although ultimately we will be ending up back in downtown SF after the Yosemite leg of the trip, so maybe its worth it to get the car there.... TY Allie
  24. Good morning - just a few updates..etc....sorry...we are renting car in Union Square on Mason st.. :) ...Our hotel in SF when we come back from Yosemite is in USW Nob Hill - Adagio - that awesome $99.00 special you found us!! found this post.....sounded like a match till I read the amenities... :)
  25. Hi - researching thru your HOTWIRE link for a hotel in Manteca CA - "Modesto" area....can anyone help identify... Sept 18 2011 - 1 night - 57.00 Complimentary breakfast Pool(s) High Speed internet access recommended in 100% of Hotwire customer reviews... also if any one has any thoughts on this other question...flying into SFO Sunday morning @ 11:30 am...renting car thru Enterprise...heading out that day towards Yosemite, hence staying in Modesto area which is on the way....car rentals from SFO airport location are STILL $150.00 higher than the reservation we have renting from "in town" (Mason Sq) Enterprise office...are we adding alot of "time" & aggravation by renting "in town"? We are coming back to San Francisco after 1 week in Yosemite for 4 days in Mason Sq area of SF ( which we found with your help.. :) ..), which lead us towards renting the car from that area, but as I look at the map, we could head out of SFO on Rt 92 - San Mateo bridge vs having to go from downtown over San Fran Bay Bridge on rt 80....is it worth the extra $150.00 to just rent from airport?? We cant rent from the Burlingame Enterprise office, as it is closed on Sundays... :) ...any one familiar with area have any thoughts??? TY!!! Allie
