Decided to pass on the Whitney and hold out for a better deal. Not sure if that was a good idea as it seems like prices are rising. Now, there is a 3* French Quarter hotel for $73/night showing up the the dates of 12/20/13-12/22/13 with the following: Free Internet Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Self service laundry Internet access I'm hoping this is the BW Landmark Plus but have a feeling it might be the Wyndham FQ. It is 95% Hotwire review recommended and 4.0/5.0 on TA. What do you guys think? Thank you.

The Tulane University Homecoming is scheduled that Saturday. The one game each year that Tulane does draw well is Homecoming. Especially if Tulane can take advantage of their upcoming easy schedule and go into homecoming with a 3 game win streak. Also that weekend is the Mirliton Festival in the Bywater. The Saints game is a Monday night game vs. Philly. Expect lots of New Englanders in town between Tulane alumni, Iggles fans and Bama fans (although their game is in Baton Rouge, there really is just no reason to go to Baton Rouge for anything except the game).

$51 on 1st try. Thought I'd start a little higher than the lowest reported of $45 since it was a Saturday night, but guess there was a decent chance that I just blew $5. Meh, still a superb deal that I wouldn't have known about without this site!

You should be aware that 4* FQ is likely to give you the Marriott or Westin. 4* Downtown will be either the Sheraton or Hilton which are more likely to fit into your price range. The Sheraton is literally across Canal and a 3 minute wallk from the Marriott/Westin. The 4* Convention Center are further from the FQ and have a different vibe. If you don't want to spend over $100 per then you should start bidding on the 3.5* or 3* FQ or 4* CC, imho.

Using the PRICELINE link from this site, I first bid $75 and was rejected. No counter offer was made. Added another area that has no 4* hotels (West Bank), bid $80 and accepted. Same hotel (I believe) was $105 on HOTWIRE. Who Dat!

Let's say I got a "name your own price" 4* hotel for 4 nights at $60 for a specified 4 night period. A couple weeks later, if I were to rebid the same area/4* and for same time period and I were to get a room for $50 instead, would this "trump" my $60 night reservation?

I'll add 2 cents worth. Join the Wyndham By Request program and Wyndham Rewards programs. They are free to join. They will provide your choice of complimentary beverage and a nice fresh fruit plate in the room upon check in. The summer is the slow season. Once, I had a reservation for a basic room and they upgraded me to a suite for free without my even asking. Remember there's a WHOLE lot more to NOLA than Bourbon Street.
