Thanks for the advice. We did not want to go as low as 2*, so I did bid up to $180 for 4* in all zones except Soho/DT and UWS. Unsuccessful. Also unsuccessful up to $160 for 3* in same areas. Tried all date combinations (those requiring only 1 move). I found out that my friend got Club Quarters for $180 (not $250) like I originally thought; hence I made my bids lower for the 3*. I hope others have better luck. I did notice that Sunday night is very cheap on Hotwire. But that is the only bargain date.

We've 3 people for 5 nights and right now have City Quarters at $250/night booked. We need to be in Midtown area. We can only split nights June 9-12, 12-14, but the cheap night is Sunday and we don't want to move Sun and Mon. And for 3 people, what is the procedure? I'm just putting in 2 people and hope the extra person charge is not outrageous. Help is appreciated, thank you.

Stayed June 22-24. I paid about $100 for this hotel versus $75 for the Marriott (which is about 5 blocks away), but the difference was worth it. It was a lovely hotel (previously Hyatt) and the room was huge. No balcony or river view however. They fulfilled my request of a nonsmoking king bed room with no hassles. The bedding is great and the bathroom is marbled with large tub and separate shower. One of the bigger non-suite hotel rooms I've stayed in before. The location is practically at the bridge, so very convenient for everything. There is a casino but we didn't hear any noise from it. Definitely recommend this hotel. If you feel like really splurging, there is a new Four Seasons that is spectacular offering promotional rates of 160 euros (I think normally it's over 300 euros).

The best thing about this hotel is that every room has a balcony with river view. The room itself is like every other Marriott, no complaints. They gave me a king bed as requested. (Interesting because I sent an email request and must have sent a duplicate one by mistake; I got 2 different replies back, one saying Priceline policy, cannot accept requests, need to go through Priceline; and the other one was super nice and guaranteeing my request!) My only complaint about the hotel was that the front staff was unhelpful. They could not tell us where we could buy a beer when in fact there was a liquor store right across the street. Gave us a ridiculously high quote on taxi rates. Btw, always call for CityTaxi in Budapest - most cabs on the street are notoriously for ripping off tourists. Also lots of tour groups clogging the lobby. I moved to the Sofitel for the next 2 nights which I will cover in another review.

Just returned from the trip. I booked through Priceline for one night June 14 (I think I got it for $90 before taxes). The hotel is located across from the Marriott (same ownership). Reception was not able to offer me a nonsmoking room with queen or king bed even though I had sent in the request previously. So I ended up with a nonsmoking room with 2 twins. Modern, clean hotel, what you would expect from a Marriott, no more, no less. I think the location of the hotel is the best feature, very close to old town and steps away from a tram line. Having been there for 5 days, I would definitely recommend staying in old town as opposed to the castle district and further away. I only stayed there for one night because I wanted a boutique hotel and I was able to snag a great deal at Hotel Central, part of the K&K chain. Brand new room at 100 euros with breakfast, free internet and free minibar! (rack rate is over 260 euros). It was only 2 streets away from the Renaissance. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

I would like to stay in Vienna Jun 19 for one night. Since I'm only there for 1 day I want to be very central (within ring road?). I don't want to bid below 4* as I see some of the 3* Mercures are located quite far away. Thank you.

First bid accepted at $91 Budapest 5* June 24 for one night was rejected last week up to $105, so it pays to try again! Now I've my complete 5 days booked in Budapest.

I live in Vancouver and just for your information, the restaurant in the hotel is called Showcase and they are famous for their lunch curries. There is also a great coffee house around the corner Artigianno that does cool latte art. Also check out a neat tea place called Infuze nearby. Have a good time in my hometown!

Rejected at $85 Jun 14-16 Rebid at $90 by adding West (I have been bidding west up to $120 without results, so essentially a free rebid and I would be pleasantly surprised if I did get West) Accepted $90 about $13 in service charges/tax June 14 for one night then I tried to rebid for June 15-16 right away at $90 but was rejected. So will try in 2 days at $95.

I stayed here with Hotwire Jan 12-17, 2004 ($89 per night). I felt the location was great and what made this hotel really great was the concierge service. One, Rika, was especially wonderful and she gave us excellent restaurant choices (and got difficult reservations). The complementary wine happy hour was also good. Internet is free. The restaurant attached is supposed quite good (did not try). The chain has many good properties. Hotel Monaco a few blocks away I think is newer if you are looking for less worn rooms. I also stayed in Hotel Marlowe in Cambridge (Hotwire May 25, 2003 - $90 per night) and it was brand new with similar service. All in all, I would definitely stay in other Klimpton properties.

I've a reservation with a 4* boutique hotel (Golden Tulip Maximillian in the Jewish Quarter) for $160 euros (can cancel 24 hours ahead). Also a reservation with the new K & K Central $150 euros (waiting for more feedback at tripadvisor re this hotel before deciding between the two). I really want to stay in a "character" place in Prague and the 4* and 5* available on Priceline East do not seem to fit this. The Savoy is a little out of the way, but I would love to stay there at a reasonable price. The lowest rate is $220 euros per night, but there is an auction going on on virtualtourist.com starting at $640 for 4 nights (currently bidded up to $790 US). They seem to have one weekly so I'll keep my fingers crossed. I have contacted the hotel and they have tentatively reserved a room for me (I can cancel) and change the rate if I win the auction. So, my maximum bid for Priceline West 5* (assuming I get Savoy) would be $160 US (comparable to the auction price) until June 9 (last day of auction), then I would bid up to US equivalent to $150 euros. However, I am risking not getting the Savoy and instead a 5* hotel with little character with little savings. Any help/insight would be appreciated. Thank you.
