  1. 4* San Diego (Downtown/Harbor Island) Sheraton Hotel and Marina $177 1380 Harbor Island Drive, San Diego, CA, 92101 (619) 291-2900 Rate per night: $177.00 Nights: 1 Rooms: 1 Tax recovery charges & fees: $31.09 Subtotal: $208.09 this is by no means a screaming deal - but priceline was tough this time and no luck booking anywhere.
  2. I was able to get this same hotel - crazy how no other 4 stars in any zone come close to this same price. Saturday Night for memorial day weekend is booked solid in a lot of areas. Nice find - thanks for posting - saved me some $$$
  3. Room Subtotal: $70.00 Taxes & Fees: $18.29 Total Charged to Card: $88.29 the "taxes and fees" on Priceline is total BS - started this bid at $50 and the bitches at PL rejected all the way up to $70. guess the recession is over in CA...
  4. Hyatt Grand Champions Resort 44 600 Indian Wells Lane Indian Wells, CA 92210 760-341-1000 Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $65.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Guests Per Room: 2 Number of Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $65.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $17.12 (USD) Total Room Cost: $82.12 (USD)
  5. La Quinta Resort & Club, A Waldorf Astoria Resort 49-499 Eisenhower Drive La Quinta, CA 92253 760-564-4111 10-1-2011 Priceline rejected multiple night bids at this rate but allowed me to add a night at the same price. they do charge a bit more for taxes and fees but all in all a decent price for this joint.
  6. damn it! i should have gone $39 The Hyatt Lodge At Mcdonalds Oak Brook - Downer's Grove 2815 Jorie Blvd, Oak Brook, IL 60523 630-990-5800
  7. This is definitely SOUTH of the mag mile - however it is a fantastic hotel if you don't mind taking a cab up to the action. Price wise, it is fair, I have gotten it in the $70s on PL however not a bad price on Hotwire Hilton Chicago 720 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL, 60605 (312) 922-4400 Rate per night: $89.00 Nights: 2 Rooms: 1 Tax recovery charges & fees: $37.62 Subtotal: $215.62
  8. i have noticed Priceline is not as near as competitive as it use to be. I am getting better pricing on Hotwire quite a bit as of late. I bid up to $105 for a 3 star on Priceline and got shot down like a 2012 Obama reelection bid. Amelia Hotel and Suites See ratings guide 1997 South Fletcher Ave., Amelia Island, FL, 32034 (904) 261-5735 Hotel Rate per night: $111.00 Nights: 1 Rooms: 1 Tax recovery charges & fees: $19.45 Subtotal: $130.45 Trip total: $130.45
  9. Priceline Bid Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $44.00 Subtotal: $44.00 Taxes & Fees: $13.12 Total Charges*: $57.12
  10. Apparently no one is going to Reno - $25 for a hotel room? Priceline was not competitive. I wonder what the resort fee is. 345 North Virginia Street, Reno, NV, 89505 (775) 786-5700 Hotel Rate per night: $25.00 Nights: 1 Rooms: 1 Tax recovery charges & fees: $9.14 Subtotal: $34.14
  11. ok here's my review of the hotel :) If you're venturing to Cancun, Mexico and using Hotwire or Priceline, you have definitely seen the Westin Resort & Spa (also known as Westin Regina) - it is NOT The Westin Lagunamar, the newer Westin property (has all the Villas) - which is located further north by La Isla shopping center. The reviews have been all over the place. So is this a hidden gem or a god awful place to stay? If you are a traveler who loves a good beach and multiple swimming pools, then the Westin Regina should be on your list. It is uniquely located at the very southern end of the Cancun hotel resort strip. In fact the only major hotel further south is Club Med. The hotel sits on a narrow strip of land that straddles the Caribbean sea and the lagoon - you literally can walk from the ocean across the beach - through the breeze way and to the dock on the lagoon side in a couple of minutes. Very unique and cool. If you truly don't enjoy the beach, this isn't the hotel for you. It is far from everything. And you have to ask yourself, are you ok riding the bus? If the answer is yes to being a beach lover and ok with public transit - keep reading, if not, skip this hotel. In February 2011 the Mexican Peso to the US Dollar exchange rate was roughly 12 pesos to the dollar. The Westin was giving 11.60 pesos to the dollar - much better than the airport but still a 3.33% charge to simply convert your money. I'm a finance guy so if i can save you a few bucks, I've done my job - grab your ATM card and walk down to the road and hop on the city bus. You're at the very last stop on the hotel strip so the bus only goes north from here. 9.50 pesos gets you a one way fare. Taxis will pretty much run you $10+ for a one way ride. They don't have meters so don't even bother asking them to turn it on. Get off at Kukulcan plaza - (on ocean side - look for Louis Vutton, Ruth Chris Steak House) and go into the mini mall and upstairs to HSBC bank. Exchange rate was 11.96 pesos to the dollar at HSBC. If you're even more savy you can open an HSBC account online prior to leaving and you won't even pay an ATM fee. Back to the hotel - breakfast is exorbitant in terms of price - $28 for the spread. It is easy to see how they figure this out. $20 round trip taxi + $8 price breakfast buffet of the Tequilla Grill located in the same Kukulcan plaza. If you take the bus, you're winning. If not, it is a toss up. We never ate once at the hotel due to the various other reviews saying the food wasn't anything extraordinary. Rooms are comfortable - we did get a complimentary "upgrade" to the 6th floor, friends we had were on the 3rd and 4th floor. All were lagoon views. We had a nice balcony which we didn't use as much as I would think due to the kids always wanting to come right up to the railing. Beds are just fine, air conditioning was functional. TV is a smaller LCD/Plasma - between 36-40 inches but it served its purpose. A small refigerator and sink are included as well. A nice large desk for working - if you use the internet it is $15 per 24 period and request or bring a ethernet cable - the wireless is spotty - the LAN works great. Bathrooms: Ours was clean - they have all the requisite marble, travertine, drop sinks, separate bath and shower. Yes they are starting to show their age. This wasn't a deal killer for us. I am sure there could be instances where mold/mildew could grow but we found the staff helpful enough where they would have taken care of it if we said anything. Remember the price point of this hotel versus the other is why you are staying here. I have to mention the shower. Yes this has the standard Westin double headed shower and before you think you're going to go at it Sharon Stone/Sly Stallone (The Specialist) style, be forewarned if you like anything but cold water, the water temperature can vary drastically during the shower. I first thought it was someone in our room using the sink or toilet but then realized anytime a toilet in the hotel was flushed, the water would get really scalding hot for a minute. This may be a deal breaker for you, I learned to take quick and cold showers. Couple of final things to point out if you made it this far. We were "invited" to use the nice facilities up at The Westin Lagunamar - even had transportation arranged for us to take us and our kids to the water park and pools. After I agreed to do this, I learned they wanted to hawk us a time share with the "90 minute presentation" and was offered a $100 voucher. If you're into this sort of think, know that it is there, the concierge was who was pitching it. After letting her do the sales pitch, I politely returned the voucher as to me, my 3-4 hours on a vacation is worth at least triple what I make per hour back home. We didn't ask or use the pool facilities at the Lagunamar after we declined the timeshare pitch. Overall I would visit this Westin again, but we are not the typical pampered travelers. Knowing that I can ride a bus from the hotel to the great American triumvirate enterprises in Cancun (Wal-Mart, Sam's Club and Costco) it worked just fine for us. I'm not completely sold on Cancun over say Hawaii or another beach front destination, but hopefully this gives you a better picture of the Westin Resort and Spa in Cancun.
  12. PLEASE NOTE! This is NOT the new Westin property in Cancun- this is the "old" one and the reviews on trip advisor can be pretty brutal. This is one where if you don't want the chance of a sketchy 4 star property - i wouldn't use Priceline for Cancun. As soon as we get back I'll post my review in TripAdvisor but consider yourself warned before you think this is a killer price :) The Westin Resort & Spa Cancun Blvd Kukulcan Km 20 Cancun, Mexico 52-998-848-7400 Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: US$54.00 Subtotal: US$270.00 Taxes and Fees: US$49.15 Total Charges for Original Reservation: US$319.15
  13. heard mixed reviews about this hotel - hopefully the kids are too busy at disney if the hotel is a dive... Holiday Inn & Suites Disneyland - Anaheim 1240 South Walnut Street Anaheim, California 92802 714-535-0300 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $40.00 Subtotal: $80.00 Taxes & Fees: $18.48 Total Charges*: $98.48
  14. Paradise Point Resort & Spa San Diego Coastal 1404 West Vacation Road San Diego, California 92109 858-274-4630 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $69.00 Subtotal: $138.00 Taxes & Fees: $26.54 Total Charges*: $164.54
  15. this is a decent 3* hotel - of course the property is big enough where some rooms are better than others. in the past, i found the rooms on the higher floors are a bit newer. Maybe they have been redone, etc. Radisson Disney Maingate - Celebration 2900 Parkway Boulevard Kissimmee, Florida 34747 407-396-7000 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $38.00 Subtotal: $38.00 Taxes & Fees: $12.24 Total Charges*: $50.24
  16. i'm sure i overbid on this as i couldn't get the hyatt regency to come up and that is the one I wanted - however this gives everyone a bid point for a weekend MCO hotel area stay. Orlando International Airport (MCO) 7499 Augusta Natl Drive Orlando, Florida 32822 407-851-9000 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $59.00 Subtotal: $59.00 Taxes & Fees: $15.30 Total Charges*: $74.30
  17. bid $40 and got rejected but said raise bid $15. I bid $45 and got it. So you are probably somewhere between $40 and $45 for the hotel. post got cut off $45 for Doubletree - Dec 3 to Dec 4, 2010
  18. after winning the bid i saw subsequent bids for $70 so that may not even be the floor. This is hotel has a beautiful lobby and at one point it probably was one of the best hotels in the downtown area. Rooms needed some upkeep. they are clean, just aging. Parking is a ridiculous $40 - an insider tip for downtown LA- if you aren't against walking a few blocks. Go park at the World Trade Center about 4 blocks away (it is directly across from the Marriott) It is a reasonable $8 per night if you're out before 10 AM and before 12 total hours.
  19. apparently the economy is still down - using the Sheraton is a bit harder to get - i would rate this a high 3.5* - i think for priceline they don't give you the best rooms...decent enough but just an fyi
  20. tried for a 3.5* downtown for $38 - settled for this. being that there are no 4* on priceline in Jacksonville - i'm sure this is a safe bet
  21. Two Rooms - Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $38.00 Subtotal: $76.00 Taxes & Fees: $18.70 Total Charges*: $94.70
  22. Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $40.00 Subtotal: $80.00 Taxes and Fees: $18.66 Total Charges for Add. Night Res.*: $98.66 first bid at $38 it said "based on historical data you have a slim chance of winning..." blah blah blah. Asked me to raise bid by $10 when i didn't win, changed dates and raised bid by $2 and it took
  23. started out bidding for 3.5* at $59, $69. not a lot of bid history in downtown LA for 3.5 or 4 stars. so this bid may be a bit high but it was $10 cheaper than hotwire. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $89.00 Subtotal: $89.00 Taxes & Fees: $20.60 Total Charges*: $109.60 Westin Bonaventure Hotel Downtown Los Angeles 404 S Figueroa St Los Angeles, California 90071 213-624-1000
  24. chicago area hotels have been creeping up. remember the days where the hyatt in downton chicago was $45-50 a night? anyhow this isn't bad, it is in the 'burbs but a nice affordable price.
