Following advice in this forum, got the Hyatt for $65 (US) for one night on 6th July, on first try.

Yes, the solo night only shows the four amenities, as mentioned previously, and isn't shown as a Customer Favorite.

Westin Horton Plaza

Have yet to see if it works from the UK.

Hotwire does work from the UK, as they accept non-US addresses. Booked last night for part of our vacation.

Priceline.com will only accept US-addresses.

Priceline.co.uk will work, but the prices quotes there are crazy high!!

We're coming from Scotland to the West coast in July. After a week at Disneyland, and a week in San Diego, we want to spend a week at a nice beach hotel in/around Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, Venice Beach, etc. These are only names to me, and I need avice on which is best for a relaxing week! Sandy beaches, boardwalk, some fun things for a 5-year-old.

Any advice is appreciated, along with suggestions on hotel to try to get through Hotwire/Priceline.

Was looking for a room for 5 nights from July 7 to 12. Hotwire came up with a Harbor area 4* for $98. The amenities didn't match with any on the list in this forum, so I thought I'd reserve 1 night first to find out which hotel it was. Anyway, turned out to be the Sheraton Hotel and Marina. This seemed good value, so i went to reserve the following 4 nights, only to find the price had gone up to $111. As the same amenities were listed, I thought we'd go for it. But...turned out we got 4 nights at the Westin Horton Plaza! So, we get to move after one night, but I'm still happy with the Westion for $111!

I think Hotwire aren't putting all the icons up for amenities - to make it harder to spot which hotel is being listed! All the Sheraton/Westin showed were restaurant, pool, fitness, and business center...
