  1. I had avoided 2* in Jersey City in the past because the Candlewood has only one bed in all the rooms. It turns out their web site accepts 4 people in the room because of the extra sofa bed. This is even better because parking is (apparently) free and we get a full kitchen. I tried to bet 2* on priceline up to $85 but got rejected. I used the savingsbarn link. When Priceline let's me try again, I will bid higher for 2* in Jersey City hoping I will not get bumped to 3* at the Hyatt.
  2. I love the Jersey City area because we can get rooms for 4 people and be very close to the PATH stations. I bid up to $95 on priceline to stay in Jersey City 3* and 2.5* but got rejected for Aug 2-5 2006. I could go slightly higher if I could park for cheaper than $31 at the Hyatt. I qualify for the $150 goverment rate so that's my absolute limit. Interestingly, Orbitz is cheaper than hyatt.com but the rate guarantee only gives me $190 - 20% which is more than $150. I am now looking for another area but commute time to Manhattan is very important to me. We're looking for a 2.5* or better. (I could get the Econolodge in Jersey City for $70 otherwise). I looked at hotwire and The Fort Lee - Hackensack area is pretty cheap but I am not familiar with this area. I read in another thread the Radisson Saddle Brook is not recommended so I will avoid it. I could get the 3* Fort Lee - Hackensack, restaurant, internet, golf, business center (probably the Radisson Englewood) for $61. Is this hotel decent? How is the neighborhood? How long is the commute to manhattan (say Penn Station or Times Square)? Is it close to the public transit? I don't want to drive to Manhattan.
  3. I worked my way up from $45 to $59 through multiple rebids, so $60 is pretty much their lowest price that week. This trip is a Chrismas present and I needed a winning bid before Dec 24. Travelaxe reports there are no conventions in town for Feb 26-28. There are two small conferences starting March 1st with a total of 10000 attendees. Circus Circus was available for $45 everywhere but my wife is highly allergic and she needs very clean rooms so we went with the most affordable 4* we could get. I reserved a compact car with Alamo. I'm combining the Entertainment.com Contract ID with the AD14 $20 off e-coupon for a very reasonable base rate of $97/week. Hotwire is more expensive at $20/day + fees. Priceline rejected my bid at $17/d for a mid-size car so I gave up. I bought Celine Dion tickets. I can only afford seats in the boonies for $88. If you buy multiple Celine tickets or the more expensive ones, you should consider joining Celine's fan club TeamCeline. I could not wait the 7d it takes to process the application, so I paid full price.
  4. I called the hotel directly ahead of time and the price was $79. Unfortunately, the special as low as $59 only goes through mid-Feb. This stay is from Sun to Fri which avoids week-end crowds. Hotwire was going for $64 for this particular stay. The small difference between Hotwire and Priceline can be explained by the special deal Hotwire was offering for these exact 5 days of the week, otherwise is was more like $80, not a good deal at all. I went with PriceLine anyways because I was pretty confident the only 4* in Downtown Las Vegas was the Golden Nugget. I used the savingsbarn link to support BetterBidding.
  5. This was on hotwire. BetterBidding correctly identified this hotel before I paid for the room. I used the link to reserve. Hotel, Restaurant, pool, fitness, children activities, business center The pool is external only, not very useful when it's freezing in January.
  6. This is the first week-end of the Quebec City Winter Carnaval. The following two carnaval week-ends were more expensive.
  7. So far, I found those as possibilities: Sommerfield Suites Burlington, Staybridge Suites Boston Burlington, Residence Inn Boston Woburn, Extended Stay Deluxe Boston Woburn The prices range from $94 to $159 This is more work than I thought...
  8. I need help identifying this 3* hotel in Burlington - Woburn (Boston Inner Loop): Suite, Complimentary Breakfast, Pool(s), Fitness Center, Kitchenette, Laundry Facilities (self-service). I searched for Jul 9 2006 to Jul 13 2006. The hotel comes out at $66. Thanks.
