  1. Dear Thereuare, thank you very much for looking and commenting on my search. You are really great. The question about the right hotel is extremly difficult. As probably most of the users we would like a great hotel with nice rooms in a good location at a low price. Last time in NYC we got the Grand Hyatt which was impressing for us, as in Germany most hotels are not that huge. For us the hotel needs no fancy things, but it should be more than a room, where you try to get out as quickly as you can. So I thought with a 4* you can`t go wrong. The maximum budget would be around 150 USD/nite before taxes/fees (of course if a 5 star would show up for 170 $ I can stretch the budget). The above postes 6+rating hotel can probably not be identified as it only got 1 amenity. It would be interesting... Now I found another hotel at PRICELINE EXPRESS, which is 3.5* rated in the Times Square zone which seems to be the "Rooom Mate Grace" Times Square for 151$ / nite before taxes (1.123 $ all-in for 2 rooms and three nites) amenities: pool Would this in our opinion be a good hotel? The room decor is "interesting", but the reviews and the location seem to be good for the normal tourist in Manhattan... Best wishes, Christian
  2. I`m still searching for the right hotel...If the cheap hotel is the Dylan, it wouldn`t be my favorite, as we would prefer to stay in a large hotel on an upper floor. The Dylan is obviously nothing special. But at one point I am wondering: The 6+rating hotel (goo.gl/3acsxw) should have 2000 verified guest reviews . The Dylan has less at priceline and as well on tripadvisor. There`s no hotel in rockefeller Center-Bryant Park at Priceline bookable, that hat 2000 reviews. Can the amount of reviews be a sign, that it can`t be the Dylan or can`t you rely on this specification? Thank you very much, Christian
  3. Dear Aaron, thank you very much for your help. The 4* with 6+rating at Rockefeller Center/Bryant Park is now availaible for 166 $/nigt inkluding taxes =996 $ (before discount). That`s cheap, but the reviews of the Dylan - which was your guess - aren`t very good. So we have to decide, if we pick up a cheap 4*-Hotel as it`s mostly just for sleeping or invest some more money. Your hint with the Jewel and the 2-BR-Suite is great - thank you!! I will keep you up to date. Best wishes, Christian
  4. Hello, we are travelling from Munich, Germany to the USA in August 2018. From 08/05/2018 to 08/08/2018 our plans are to stay in NYC. We are a party of 4 (my wife, me and our 2 children (9+12 years old)). Especially my wife prefers two rooms for us to have two bathrooms and more space in the room. My wife and I have been to NYC in 2004 were we stayed at the Grand Hyatt, which we booked for I think 140 $ with Priceline Name your own price and the help of your forum. As I understood from other requests, the NYOP isn`t that cheap anymore, as often resort fees are added to the bidding price. So I tried the Express Deals. As in Germany the price listed must contain all taxes and fees and in the USA this isn`t the case, it`s not allways easy to compare the prices. Now I found a 4 Star Hotel in Rockefeller Center - Bryant Park Area with a 6+-Rating and these amenities for 133$/nite + Tax = 1.003 USD (without discount)= 814 EUR for 2 rooms: Restaurant No smoking rooms Bed Choice If you search with your tool for that area, the hotel is mentioned with a price of 175 $/nite, but if you click at the rate, it drops to 133$. This seems to be a great price for a 4*-Hotel. We would like to stay in an area, where we can do most things by walk (or if neccesary by sub), which should be possible in this area. Other areas around Times Square are also welcome. As we need two rooms the rate should be not above 150$. My guess would be the Club Quarters Midtown, which has quite good reviews - which don`t fit to the 6+ rating. Could this nevertheless be right? Thank you very much for your help. Of course I would book the hotel over your link with the discount. Greetings from ice cold Munich, Christian
  5. Thank you very much for the good wishes and the help. The amenities were: restaurant, pool, fitness, spa, high-speed internet, business center. I wish you all a good time, Christian
  6. Hello, we got the Omni Shoreham Hotel for 99$ per night = 198 $+tax= 229.51$. My sister, for which is was booking the hotel, arrives on Sunday, 06/18 and leaves on Tuesday, 06/20. They are very happy with the hotel, as it was about 299$ per night on the hotel homepage. The reviews are also very good. Thank you for all the help I got by reading the topics in this forum. I will make a donation to the board. Greetings from munich, Christian
  7. Hello to all, I got the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel 123 Queen Street West Toronto, Ontario M5H 2M9 Canada for the night from 06/14 - 06/15 for 96$ + tax= 115.22 $. We are very happy with this hotel as on their homepage it`s 279 CAD+tax. The amenities are: restaurant, pool, fitness center, spa, buisness center. Greetings, Christian
  8. Sorry, I have forgotten to post the amenities: Restaurant, pool, fitness center, gof nearby and buisness center Gretings, Christian
  9. Hi all, after trying many days to get a 4*-hotel for my sister and her boyfriend for the dates 06/13 - 06/15 we decided to split the bid. Through Hotwire we got for 06/13-06/14 (1 night) the 3* Hotel Best Western Primrose Hotel 111 Carlton Street Toronto, Ontario M5B 2G3 for 54 $ + tax = 67.94 $. We know that it`s not the best hotel, but prices for 4* are high (e.g. Sheraton is sold out for that night) and for 1 night it will work. Thank you very much for the help on the board! greetings from Munich/Germany (where the soccer world cup will start tonight) Christian
  10. Thank you all very much for your help. We will consider the red roof inn, as the rates are below the milford plaza and the reviews at tripadvisor are much better. I will book this as a back-up and try again if I can get a 4* by priceline (of course through the link you provided). Have a nice day, Christian
  11. Thank you very much for your help. As the stay ist very short to see most tourist things in NYC, I would like to avoid splitting bids and spending some time for moving to an other hotel. Do you think there`s any chance that the rates will go down? The rates fpor the milford plaza are 179 for 06/21 and 06/22. For 06/23 it`s 199 $. That`s interesting, as on Hotwire the prices go down if you just try for the Friday night. To clarify the request: My Sister, for which I`m booking the room and her friend will arrive on Wednesday 06/21 and leave on Saturday 06/24. Jersey City is no alternative as it`s the first (and short) visit to NYC, so they want to spend most time in manhattan. So I guess I have to try again. Do you think chances would get better if I raise the limit to 200 $, which would be the absolute maximum they want to afford? Although the exchange rate Euro/$ is very good at the moment, it`s much money for just a room without breakfast. Best wishes, Christian
  12. Hello from sunny Munich! My sister ist going to NYC from 06/21-24 for the first time. They will be doing the tourist thing and like to stay in MTE, MTW, MTC or Times Square (with UES and UWS as free rebids). CPS would be an option too, but the price there are above the limit I think. As I see some great deals for 4*-hotels for about 130 $, I wasn`t able to get a room by priceline up to 180$. I know June is a hard time in NYC, but the rate seem to be very high, especially at that dates. Is there something special going on? As a back-up option a made a reservation at the milford plaza for about 190$ /night. Probably not the best hotel in NYC, but it will work. Hotwire is unfortunately no alternative, as the 3* and 4*-Hotel are about 300$. Do you have any advice? The limit would be 180$ for a 4* and about 150 for a 3*. Would it be useful to split the bid in order to get a deal for the Friday Evening? Thank you very much for your help. Your site is really great! Greeting, Christian
  13. I think you are very close. I got the 4* Sofitel for 09/19 for 90$ and saw some other posts where people got the hotel for this price. But my bid was already in Mai, so I'm not sure if the rates are still the same. Good luck!
  14. Yes it`s 3 star. It`s the Holiday Inn Select Downtown Quebec City, 395 Rue De La Couronne Maybe the bid was too early, but now we have all hotels for our trip to the States / Canada and just have to wait till September.
  15. Got the Holiday Inn for 62$ + tax = 74 $. On Hotwire the price was about 73 $, as I think it`s the same hotel there. Although the comments on tripadvisor aren`t very good, I think we can live with this for one night :) . Have a nice day, Christian
  16. I decided to bid on priceline and hoped, that the risk of getting the delta will become true. But now I got the HOLIDAY INN for 62$ + tax = 74,25 $ total :) . The comments on tripadvisor about the hotel aren`t very good :) - but it seems to be a clean hotel. So I hope thesqueegeekid is right, that the HI ist amazing. I only was wondering about comments on tripadvisor, that the area around the hotel is scarry with beggars etc. As we had a bad experience with the BestWestern Americana in San Francisco (very scary area as well), I hope in quebec it will be different. Is it really such a long way to old quebec? Some people write that it`s about a kilometer and say that this is long. If this is true, than it`s really no problem. Each day I walk about 1,5 kilometers in downtown munich to my office, so that`s really not a big distance. As we are only one night in quebec, the hotel isn`t any problem. Do you have any hints on dinning in the area of the hotel? Thank you, Christian :o
  17. Thank you very much for your nice and helpful comments. Now everything looks better. We will try the bagels as you mentioned. And it`s right - I don`t know a good bagel from a bad one right now :) . But I hope this will change after our visit to NY. Have a good time, Christian
  18. Got the Grand Hyatt for 140$ from 09/23 - 09/26. Bid first 110 $, 125, 135 and 140 an got it. First I was pleased, because I thought Hyatt would be great hotel chain. But as I read on tripadvisor I
  19. Sorry, I forgot this. The amenities are: restaurant, pool, fitness and buisness center. Greetings, Christian
  20. More Information to identify: Price: 73 $ Amenities: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Buisness, Laundry Which hotel could this be? For the Delta or the Hilton I would pay the price, but not for the Holiday Inn. Thank you, Christian
  21. I need your help. Who knows, which hotel the 3*** hotel in Downtown Quebec in September is? Would it be better, to get the Loews LeConcorde for 99$ at Expedia? Thank you, Christian
  22. Booked far in advance for September. 65$ per nite + tax = 154.95 $ for two nites. Seems to be a good rate for a 4 ****. At Expedia.com it would have cost more than twice. As read on tripadvisor.com it seems to be a good hotel. I hope this will become true. Greetings from Munich, Germany, Christian :)
