  1. Try 68 & 75 again USE right now if you have more free rebids. I think the Hyatt Regency may have just come into play for those dates. Let us know if it accepts or if you get counteroffers at these prices. If you are willing to try USW, try 70, 75 and 80 right now. I believe the Renaissance Stanford Court is in play at those rates right now. You might, possibly, end up at the Hilton, so make sure you're okay with this before you press forward on USW for these dates. However, I believe the Stanford Court is much more likely on those dates. If you can snag this for 70, or even 80, you ought to be a very happy camper. I note that my favorite USE boutique - the Harbor Court - is also likely in play for its lowest rate, which I'm not up-on the data enough to know what it is - 55 to 70 somewhere I think? But I think there are other less desirable boutiques. If you get this one, you're psyched though.
  2. Good call, I am going to buy 2 of the new ones this year, I will definitely use the link!! Thanks thereuare for providing this board!!
  3. Glad the strategy worked and that you're all set. You're way better off than down at the airport, and this is a good price for this property. Try to ask for a room afcing outside towards the street, in my opinion these are better than the interiopr facing ones. There is a whole pool area, so bring a suit. It will likely be nice weather at this time of year.
  4. The problem is worse in that area than near basically any other Priceline hotels except maybe some of the SOMA ones.
  5. Sorry, I left out: for FW 3*, it is the Sheraton showing as available very affordable. The Tusan Inn is not far behind.Either of these are very real possibilities.
  6. Well there is definitely access to inventory. Checking Priceline vacations right now, these hotels are showing as available: USE 4* Hyatt Regency (if you have bid 68 - 72 and not gotten it, it seems the next price point is about 92 and thereafter, somewhere around 110). Park Hyatt (asking price is 31/nt more than Regency so you should definitely hit the Regency first) [Note, Westin does not seem to participate in PL vacations, I bet this one is available for hotels inventory as well] FW 3* I am surprised based on the price at vacatrions that you didn't hit at 70. They are only asking 1048 for 2 people for 7 nights with airfare from LAX. There's also a premium added over their base component cost. You must be exceptionally close to hitting on this one. I see USE 3* club quarters is also available. Assuming you'd be happy paying 70-80 for downtown versus airport, would you consider this strategy - USE 4* 68, then free rebid at 72 and 80 just to confirm this is still unavailable - go into this thinking you're not going to get anything. You need to decide at this point if you want to try for a four star at a higher price (you have tons more free rebids)...or try for USW per my previous post...or...I bet the following yields you a room almost for sure: FW 3* 70$ [sTART COMPLETELY NEW BID] FW CivCtr 3* 75$ [sTART COMPLETELY NEW BID] USE 3* 70$ [sTART COMPLETELY NEW BID] USE CivCtr 3* 75$ [sTART COMPLETELY NEW BID] USE FW 3* 80$ [sTART COMPLETELY NEW BID] USE FW CivCtr 3* 85$ Good luck. If it were me I'd play this out rather than getting into an airport hotel situation.
  7. I'm not so confident any longer. The lowest available rate at the Westin is now higher than rates I've seen where 93 was accepted. But this hotel has only recently started popping up again after soem rennovations so the data set is somewhat limited. Did you get any counteroffers on your 80's bids? This would be a good indication that you're close.
  8. You need to telephone the Hyatt SFO directly during business hours (or the Grand Hyatt). The Hyatt SFO is 650-347-1234. Tell them you want the "Entertainment rate". You will need to get an Entertainment Card (possibly, to be safe you should definitely get one in case they ask). If you buy the newly released San Francisco Entertainment Book, this will give you some nice 50% off dining and touring coupons, to boot. The "entertainment rate" seems to be 1/2 of whatever lowest rate is showing as available. I have found that Hotels.com is a nice place to be able to display day-by-day lowest rates. Good luck!
  9. The USE 3*'s are not too bad - the Club Quarters is directly across the street from the Park Hyatt and is brand spanking new. The rooms are nice. The possible upgrades to boutiques, well, I think there are a few and I'm not familiar with all of them. I can vouch that the Harbor Court is really, really nice. Also it is connected to Ozumo, which is just about my favorite SF restaurant and if you like Japanese food, a must. In fact, there are tons of great SF restaurants all around the Harbor Court - Boulevard, the two best dim sum places Harbor Village and Yank Sing, and too many more to speak of. Personally having lived in the Bay Area 30 years I would not stay in Fisherman's Wharf for a week much less two nights, but admittedly, some tourists might like it - you're talking Wax Museums, etc. - touristy, touristy surroundings. The downtown hotels would place you in a position for a much more "real" San Francisco experience as San Franciscans live their daily lives. The dining options are way better downtown as well. What about USW? USW has a much greater tendency to accept Saturday night check-ins than USE. The Hilton is slighly a drag but not too bad, but if you get either Renaissance, which is a very real possibility on those dates, you're in great shape. Being in th evicinity of Union Square I would think to me would be much more exciting for a crowded, public space than the Wharf. Just some thoughts.
  10. I did a $54.50 last night, they did not ask for my Entertainment Card though I had it with me. Obviously this is so much of a better deal than $49 plus $15.95 through Hotwire, risking getting the Sheraton, possibly not getting applicable GP bonuses, and on the entertainment rate of course you earn points on the cost of the room. Thank you for pointing this out for me. I was able to book 6 more nights all at $54.50 or $59.50 plus a night at the Grand downtown at $89.50.
  11. That does bum me out, I have several Entertainment Book sitting right here. I have never used their hotel program. How did you get those rates - do you need to call? I assume also those are cancellable, etc. Bummer.
  12. I have seen somewhere this was a 3.5 - no more evidently. Hyatt lovers beware. This baby has the SAME EXACT AMENITIES as Hyatt - Shuttle, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Business (and sometimes golf, and sometimes no golf, seemingly randomly). $49, 1 night stay, 9/24, $15.95 tax and fees. Let my $49 lesson be your heads-up!!
  13. 2 one night stays 9/11 and 9/17 (I have given up on Priceline coming back into play so I sucked it up). $49 and $48 respectively. Notes: 1. I can get the price to vary from between $48 to $57 by just closing the browser, dumping all cookies and immediately requesting again. I just kept going until I got $48 or $49 (time is not worth keeping trying for one extra dollar...) 2. Interestingly tax and fee is always $15.95, regardless of the price between $48 and $57. 3. BEWARE - see my other post - THE SHERATON IS COMING UP FOR THE SAME 48 TO 57 RANGE! Same stars (4) EXACT same amenities - Shuttle, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Business. I thought I saw somewhere or another this was a 3.5 star. Anyway, no longer. 4. Sometimes you'll get a "golf" icon as well, sometimes not. Its really weird. I am convinced it just pops in and out randomly to throw things off. The icon means "golf is nearby". So I guess if golf is nearby they either let you know, or sometimes they don't, to spice things up. I see no correlation between Hyatt and Sheraton - both had the golf icon sometimes and somtimes did not. Obviously none of these SFO airport hotels have golf on site.
  14. Have you considered bidding USW? You may have more success in the 70 range in that zone (although personally it is my less favorite of the two based mostly on the chance of getting the Hilton, which I think stinks and does have crummy "priceline" rooms). If you want USE, its possible, but I think less than 50% chance, that you'll see winning bids at 70-75. I agree with thereuare, this is a tough weekend and cannot be compared to surrounding weekend. Apples and oranges. I still remain confident that a bid at 93 should get this done for you right now at the Westin, but that could change at any moment.
  15. P.S. If you do wait 72 hours, definitely start at the bottom again, I would recommednd 60, 68, 70, 72, 75, 80, 85, 90 and 93.
  16. Next time, you have lots more rebids to use, just start new bids instead of taking priceline up on its offer to "add a zone". If you have zone A you are targetting and zones B, C, D, E and F which are free rebid zones, bid: A AB AC AD AE AF ABC ABD ABE ABF ACD ACE ACF ADE ADF AEF ABCD ABCE ABCF ABDE ABDF ABEF ABCDEF Not that you should need all those in USE-SF hopefully! You are correct that you would normally have seen an acceptance by now. You can wait and see if prices come down. Currently, based on ancillary evidence, I would recommend that your next bid levels be 85, 90 and 93. I am fairly confident that 93 would win the Westin St. Francis for these dates as of right now.
  17. $74.50 all in. I've never seen the Sheraton come up for 60, usually 60 is a safe bet for the Hyatt. Beware. Ouch.
  18. I just tried one night bids at $60 for 9/3, 9/5, 9/7 and 9/9 which all were countered +17. No acceptances for individual nights at $60, still. :)
  19. There's nothing wrong with the Doubletree, its fine (although of all the airport locations, for quality of stay, I prefer the Westin and then the Hyatt in that order). I initially used the term "Doubletreed" meaning I'm not getting my Hyatt FFN credit which is the whole point, for me at least, of the bid. I have no other need for the room. At least when I get "Doubletreed" I can stay home and don't have to drive to south San Francisco to "check 'er in, check 'er out". Ahhh, mattress runs, gotta love 'em. :)
  20. $55 counter +15 Vancouver+Langley, new bid, $60 flat reject Vancouver+Delta, new bid, $65 accept
  21. I bid every single day of this "longer" stay and was not able to get a single night at 60 for any of the nights. I am very interested to know anyone else's experiences. Is this type of condition something we see in other cities with PL? I've done a tremendous amount of bidding over the last few years, but always in just a few zones, and I've never encountered this previously. Generally, I would think you're looking at it in the right way, thereuare - that is, that longer stays are generally more profitable and are preferred. There are variable costs per day, and then fixed costs per stay. On a six day stay, they only bear costs for one "fixed cost per stay" unit versus six units for six one-day stays. I.e., on a six day stay, you consume the check-in time of their personnel only once, etc.
  22. I am very surprised that several longer stay requests I have made for colleagues have been accepted at 60 when individual night requests in the same date range have been rejected at 60. I have never seen this behavior with these properties before and I am fairly confident this is a new condition being applied.
  23. BTW, I am thinking that those SFO counters may have been accepted at $40 at the Sheraton based on ancillary evidence.
