  1. I'm sorry for this delay. Here is my review of this property. I was pretty happy with this stay! I stayed here at the end of August 2007. The hotel is in an office park off Lawrence Expressway. It's a convenient location for surrounding areas such as Mountain View and Santa Clara, being near Hwy 237 and Hwy 101. Parking is free. I would call this an executive class hotel, similar to Courtyard by Marriott and the like. The lobby was nicely decorated with brass and wood. I had no problems with check in for my prepaid (Hotwire) reservation. The room itself was quite comfortable. There was an executive desk and chair, sofa chair, CD/clock radio, comfortable bed. There was no fridge or microwave. Hi-speed internet is free and there were 6 or 7 wireless network connections. It was never a problem finding a strong signal. The icing on the cake was the breakfast buffet. Belgian waffles, eggs, sausage, fries, muffins, toast, bagels, danishes, cereal, oatmeal, fruit, coffee, tea, juices and milk. This is a great location if you're attending a concert and nearby Shoreline Amphitheater.
  2. 1 night stay at $76, total with tax at $86.98. NOTE: This property is on the list as a 2.5*. Apparently, they've been upgraded. Amenities: Casino Airport Shuttle Pool Restaurant Golf Nearby Will report back with a review. Used the HOTWIRE link BB link.
  3. Here's a new one for the list. Amenities: Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business, Laundry, Internet, Golf, Tennis $59 per night, plus tax for a total of $70.90. The cheapest rate on their homepage is $79.20 per night, plus tax for a total of $86.33. The room includes a hot buffet breakfast, always a nice plus. I'll report back with a review.
  4. I saw this hotel listed, but decided not to risk it, even for a one night stay. Too many of the Oakland Airport hotels have pretty low ratings based on reviews. I went the traditional route and reserved at room at the Quality Inn, which is only 3 miles away. Ended up being cheaper. I'm a big advocate for hotwire/priceline, but this time the old fashioned way was the better option. Have fun at the concert.
  5. I stayed here for one Saturday night in October 2005. Location is fine. It's on N. Sierra street (1 block parallel to Virginia Street which is the main drag). It's only about 2 blocks from the main grouping of hotels (Circus/Circus, El Dorado, Silver Legacy). Valet parking is complementary, and I suggest you take advantage of it. Self parking is a pretty small outdoor lot across the street in back. It fills up quickly. Save yourself the effort. The casino itself is fine. For interesting eating, Benihana (Japanese teppan cooking) is located on the property. Had no problems with check in and the room was pretty decent. Two star level was right. No clock radio, the lights were pretty dim, the bathroom had a vanity and chair, and two sinks, which was unexpected. The nightstand lights didn't work, and despite two calls to the front desk, no one arrived to repair it. No internet access in the rooms, which was a bummer. Apparently there was wifi access in the business center, but I never checked. Also, the train passes right next to the hotel. This could keep some up at night. There is a church a block away as well, and you will hear the chiming on weekends. All in all, not a bad alternative if you can't find a room at the other hotels. I wouldn't mind getting this property again, but there are many others I'd prefer if I had the choice.

  7. This is a new property listing. Amenities: Hotel, Casino, Shuttle, Restaurant, Fitness, Golf, Business $54 a night, with taxes total: $67.20 This will be my first time at this hotel. I'll report back.
  8. Per night $27 Taxes $9.84 Total $36.84 Amenities: Resort, Casino, Shuttle, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Spa, Golf, Tennis, Business I haven't seen the "Resort" label for this property before. Also, it seems like the different room levels get listed as different star levels. This purchase got me a Luxury Tower Room and it came up as a 3 star. I noticed another user got the Royal Dolphin Tower and that came up as a 3.5 star. Regular price for my level room would have been $48.50 before taxes.
  9. Very true. I'm always in the LAX area. I hold the blue HHonors card, so I think it does help that I check in at the HHonors desk as well. I'll report back!
  10. I stayed here in March 2005. Mind you, I was fully prepared to give this hotel a horrid rating based on all the reviews I've read on the net. But surprisingly, I had a very good stay! I checked in at the Hilton Honors desk (blue card). The clerk was quite nice and didn't give me any priceline attitude. She gave me a room on the 10th floor. The hallways looked great from the recent renovations. Even so, I braced myself for the room itself. Pleasant surprise! The room was decorated in a sage/khaki/cream motif. The carpets were new and clean. The beds were lofty, piled high with a thick mattress, down comforter and 4 pillows per bed. There was an executive desk and chair, another chair by the window, coffee maker and a 25" or so Phillips television. The bed was so comfortable, I didn't want to wake up in the morning. There was definitely noise from the planes at LAX, but it wasn't intolerable. The bathroom was clean but small. Neutrogena products available. Water pressure was fine. The shower had a large dial control, which I think would be easy to manage for people with limited use of their hands. The fitness center is temporarily located 1 floor below the lobby (it will be on the 3rd floor when it's finished). It's open 24 hours. Pretty good equipment. Video terminals on every cardio machine (bring your own earphones). The front desk accomodated me for a late check out. All in all, I can't complain one bit about this stay. Granted, I might have lucked out with a great room because of the Honors card or because I checked in at 9:45pm when the crappy rooms were gone. I would have to stay at least once more before wholeheartedly recommending this hotel as a good Priceline deal.
  11. First bid. I am actually going to be near Downtown San Jose, but didn't want to pay for parking. Courtyard fits the bill!
  12. I started about 2 weeks ago bidding on 2.5* at $35 (trying to luck out with the Courtyard). I bid all the way up to $41 by adding Brentwood, Hollywood, then Santa Monica and I still hadn't landed anything. After a week I tried again. I repeated the above bidding up to $41 and still didn't get anything. I started over with a new bid for 3* at $43. Added the same rebid zones and finally landed the Hilton at $46. This will be my second visit to the Hilton in 1 month. I landed a GREAT refurbished room the first time. I need this second visit to judge whether the Hilton is still the bane of 3* LAX.
  13. Thanks, glad to help. This was my first time at the Holiday Inn and I was pleasantly surprised. Room was comfy and it was a nice change of pace from the big hotels. I didn't have to have to walk so far through a huge parking lot and casino to get to the elevators. Good alternative to the big casinos!
  14. Amenities: Casino, Airport Shuttle, Restaurant(s), Fitness Center Listed as "Best Value" Location: 1000 E. 6th St. Priceline offered me this same hotel (bid failed, linked me to lowestfare.com) at $75.00 (w/taxes $86.47). Got it through Hotwire at $52.00 (w/fees $64.95). Git r done! I'm just glad to have a room for that night cuz all the main casinos are sold out. Larry the Cable Guy, here I come! :)
