  1. Same day, last minute bid. I but cannot say which amenities are listed for sure. I know the place has interner, a reastaurant, pool and a business center - where I'm tyiping this :)) but had someone else bid this for me, so I don't have all details. In the end $59 + fees -> $74+ change. Nice hotel, very friendly staff!!
  2. Following a post I've seen online, I bid directly for this zone and days and got it at the first bid. Seems that the Barclays went for $120 for the whole weekend, maybe due to the bad weather in NYC. Excellent property!
  3. Last minute, so I did not work too hard. Bid $45 in the MacArthur region, no luck. Then I started a new bid in Hauppauge and got the Sheraton Long Island for $60+. I checked the rates for the zone and the Hyatt is sold out, while the Sheraton was showing $199 before the bid, and sold out afterwards. Sounds like I got the last room. The Holiday Inn ISP lists for $139, but is such a bad property that I'm much happier with the Sheraton. However, the Sheraton Long Island is no Hyatt Wind Watch!!
  4. Failed at $51 and $55, getting in both cases a +15 counteroffer. Same day bid. Great value. Not sure what the list price was on the Marriott website, for that night but FWIW I've seen it around 85 GBPs on other off nights. Reading the review on this forum really helped figuring out how to get to/from the airport for cheap.
  5. Fantastic review, acetraveler. I can only add a few things after my one night stay over the weekend. My room was in good shape, did not seem 'tired' (maybe the improved things a bit since the last review). I also ended up with a room far away from the elevator, not a big deal for me. Took the Hoppa bus rippoff to go, used the free 'red bus' to come back. I found a bus stop pretty much on the same block, across the street from the Sheraton next door. Busses 285, 101, 111...take you to terminals 1,2,3 which is what I needed. The only thing to add is that there is a night bus N9 which runs from downtown (Piccadilly circus...) to Heathrow and stops in front of the hotel. Although I did not try it, this is likely the only cheap option for those who want to go to a show and need to get back before the tube stops....
  6. $138 and change all in. Much better than the 295 CHF asked on their website. I may have overpaid, but I had only one shot and it was within 24 hours from checkin. The last failed bid one day earlier was $105. The 40 CHF parking charge stinks, but I found a spot down the street in an industrial complex where I could park overnight. 32 CHF for 24 hrs of internet (or 10 CHF for 1 hr) is also a joke, but very common in Europe. All in all a very good deal.
  7. First bid, same day, one night. The hotel has a $105 rate online, while the Radisson (which I do prefer) has a $79 rate.
  8. First bid accepted on the spot. The website was listing this for $169 and Hotwire had a very similar hotel in the area for $57, FWIW.
  9. After a long battle, where the highest rejected bids were $77 for 3* and $70 for 2.5* (both with a $22 counteroffer), my $83+ bid was accepted. It came to $103 and change all in. Beats the $229 rate on Marriott.com, and is a new entry on the forum's hotel list. I was really afraid to get the DT in Alsip, which was going for $139 online. Keep in mind I was using both the millennium and north michigan avenue zones to rebid, although they technically are NOT rebids. I was ready to take a 3* in those regions for the price in case I got one: all bets were that the winning bid was going to be in the Midway region, and it did.
  10. Same day bid. Got it on the first try based upon other successfull bids in this range. Not worth of a 3* rating but cheap and clean.
  11. I did my bidding at a 2.5* level. The HGI reported there is very nice.... Started at Macarthur at $40, added rebid at $43. Then restarted a bid Macarthur and Wading River at $45, got a counteroffer. Ignored and rebid again at $48. Got upgraded to the 3* Radisson, which is a pretty nice hotel and beats the Holiday Inn by a mile. $60 and change all in. This happened less than one hour from the 11PM cutoff time. When I checked in they showed me a folio with a $48 rate, not sure if it is what PL paid the hotel (and therefore this was the minimum bid needed) or not. Note: USING WADING RIVER IS NOT A REBID!! !I was ready to go there if needed.
  12. I first bid $70. I was told the bid was rejected. Anyway, I rebid at $75 and got accepted. The bid was placed the day before checkin. Best rate on the Hyatt website is $239, $215 with AAA promo rate.
  13. Interesting bids, same day (actually 1-2 hrs from cutoff time, now at 11PM) A group of 3 of us needed a room each. I first bid on a 3* up to $60/ni for 3 rooms and was declined. Then I moved on to 2.5* for one room, and was "upgraded" to the illegedly 3* Holiday Inn for $50 on the first try. (Off topic - this HI is really inferior to the Radisson, Hyatt or other 3* properties in the area - should be a 2.5*, but it has a restaurant and bar on premises.....) Then I bid again for one of my friends, and tried 2.5* for $48, was rejected, so I upped to $50 and accepted at the HI. Lastly, bid directly on a 3* for $50 and got a room for my other friend. Bottomline, nogo for a group of 3 rooms, but ok for 3 bids on one room. Could it be that PL would lose money if we combined the service fees into one bid?? Happy travels.
  14. Started at $60 and added a rebid at $65. This was a same day. last minute bid. Others had reported successful bids at $65, but not for Sat. night checkin and one night only. Hyatt's website showed availability at $169 ($161 AAA, $125 gov't), so I was hoping $65 would be enough. Oh well....
  15. There are no rebids in this zone. I tried yesterday at $70 and got a counteroffer for $22. Waited 24 hours, and bid maybe a bit more that I should have, but the stay is tomorrow....so I went for $77, which came in at $93.08 with taxes and fees. The coast sells for $159 on their website. Another option was the Hilton (apparenlty in this zone), which was $189 on their website. The Coast is a new property in our list for this zone. Moderator: is it fair to add also the following 4* property in this zone to the CA list, based upon a tripadvosor report?? http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews...California.html
  16. $31.25 all in. Got it at first try, based upon other similar wins Hotwire had economy and compact cars for $14+ but their taxes/fees were higher. I could have been a bit more aggressive (I've seen down to $12+), but did not want to have to wait. Hertz will honor my n1 gold, so I'm happy!!
  17. Can anyone find out if the terms for the wait have changed for car rentals?? It used to be 7 days, when hotels were at 72 hours... I haven't been able to find either in PL's T&C.... Thanks!!
  18. Last failed bid was $50, so it may be that the $51 reported here is the best deal. I did not get any counteroffers though.... Anyway, nice property, excellent price, $132.53 all in.
  19. Just got this bid in. Tried $55 first, got a reply "Add $14..". Ignored that and raised to $60. I'm a bit surprised because at this pricerance and location the Hyatt has been more consistently coming up. I'm happy anyway. DT lists for $139 online (the Hyatt was $149...)
  20. Got it at first try. Same day. A very nice hotel, definitely comparable to Hilton GI and Hyatt in the area. The account summary on the TV shows $48.13 prepaid. My PL bid added to $59 and change after taxes and fees.
  21. Too bad the Reinassaince was no longer available for $81 like the proevious post showed!! Another interesting thing: on checkin I was asked to initial check in/out dates, and the rate, which was shown as $89.95!!
  22. Did this at the very last minute, same day. Total $76.95 all included. Amenities: Compl. Breakfast, Pool(s), Fintess Center, Kitchenette, Laundry Turns out the place is packed and we got the last room.
  23. Started my bid at $45, raised to $50 and got the Marriott Downtown. Could have probably gotten it for a little less, since others got it for $46-48. This hotel lists for $152 on AAA rate in their website, All other hotels in the area (Marriott, Hilton....) were $150-160, except for the Monaco listing at $170. Another nice hit on PL.
  24. First bid at $45 was rejected, but got a counteroffer for $13. Added a rebid and got the Hyatt for $49, $63.52 with taxes. Same day. The hotel goes for $115 on its website.
  25. As I was running out of rebids, I bid $44 and got a counteroffer to add $12. Ignored, bid $48 and got accepted (~$60 with taxes). The price range was getting a bit high for the Hyatt, but I'm glad it worked. A very nice hotel.
