  1. Yogilo, glad you found the Travelzoo rate. The Handlery is in a very good location in Union Square. You might also enjoy the happy hour at their restaurant, The Daily Grill. Every day, including weekends, from 3-6pm. Check out the Daily Grill's website for details, we were there last Saturday and had a great time. Have fun!
  2. There is a Travelzoo special at the Handlery right now for $99 night that includes half off parking. Blackout Dates: July 24; Aug. 6-7; Sept. 9-11, 18-23; Oct. 1-4, 16-17; Nov. 4-6, 16-20 Book by July 27. Go to hotel website and type in TZOO for the promotion code. It is a non-refundable rate, Good luck.
  3. Does anyone know if the 72 hour cancellation policy is valid with the "Off the Record" hotels? I'm thinking of the Monte Carlo hotel in LV for Nov., but would like to cancel if I find a better rate between now and then. Also has anyone tried to upgrade to the concierge level (extra $50 per night) on an Easy Click Travel reservation at this hotel?
  4. This is exactly where I wanted to stay. The amenities matched up when I cross-checked with the vacation packages offerings. They were: Casino, Airport Shuttle, Restaurant(s), Pool(s), Fitness Center, Spa Services, Golf nearby, Tennis nearby, & Business Center. Also a "Best Value". Total cost with $12.95 in Taxes & Fees was $60.95. This is cheaper than the flyer that the Peppermill sent me that offered a two-night stay for $79 plus 12% tax. This will make a nice Father's Day weekend getaway for my husband and I.
  5. slimsurgery, I've stayed at The Venetian, and I believe that all of the rooms are very nice. The bed is in the first part of the room and then you step down into the "living room", so it's almost a two-room suite. Even if you don't have a "view room", it will be nicer than most any other room you would have found on the strip. I've always found that it's better to schmooze the front-desk person once you're actually checking in, than calling them in advance, and even if you don't succeed, the lobby of the Venetian is a masterpiece in itself. So don't worry, it will be perfect- and you'll have a great time- I promise. Good luck.
  6. Can anyone with a Hyatt Gold Passport card use 1-800-check-in, or do you have to be at a higher level? Also, do you call this number the same day that you are to check in, or can you call days in advance? I'd like to call for my stay at Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe next month, but I'm not sure having only the Gold level if I can. Thanks.
  7. When looking at Vacation Packages on Hotwire for Aug.18-20 in the Lake Tahoe area, Harrah's came up as a 4* Hotel with "Resort" & "Casino" icons. This is probably the one that you came up for Aug. 19. JUst keep checking Hotwire evry day, and hopefully, Embassy Suites will come up again. Good Luck.
  8. Thanks to Flapus I was able to get this hotel for alot cheaper than the hotel's rate of $235. Started out at $100, gradually increasing my bid :) by using Carson City and S. Lake Tahoe as free rebids. Like Flapus, it was accepted at $112. With taxes and fees it came to $132.08. I may try to add a night through Priceline or I might just try and bid again for Aug. 19-20 and see if I can get it any lower, which isn't likely- but you never know.
  9. Yes, it's still listed as a "Customer's Favorite". The amenities were listed as follows: Suite, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness Center, Complimentary Breakfast, Kitchenette, Golf nearby, Tennis nearby, and Laundry.
  10. I didn't try P/L for this bid because I wanted to stay in a "Suite" hotel. The lowest available rate on the hotel's website was $169 per night. Taxes and fees were $39.95, so the total for three nights was $285.95. Valet parking is $15 per night, but you can park next door at Harrah's hotel/casino for free.
  11. This is my first post, so please bear with me. I specifically wanted the Embassy Suites in San Rafael because I know that every Fourth of July weekend the Marin County Fair is held right next door, complete with live entertainment and fireworks every night. I haven't attended for several years but it used to be that a $10.00 admission fee included all of the carnival rides and entertainment. So couple this with the Manager's Reception and Full-Cooked -to-Order Breakfast at the Embassy and you've got a nice little weekend getaway. Anyway, the details are that the price of the room was $83.00, plus $14.95 in taxes/booking fees for a total of $97.95. I believe that there is a 10% sales tax on the room for Marin County. Hope this helps.
