  1. Was completely surprised by this one. I read the Hotwire hotel list for Las Vegas and was sure it was going to be the 2* Super 8 Las Vegas Strip property. That's what we wanted because it's right behind Bally's, and within less than 0.5 mile walking distance. We were going to be attending the EVO 2013 event held at the Bally's Event Center for this weekend (Fri-Sun, Jul. 12-14, 2013) so the Super 8 would've been just right in location and price, since the strip hotels were priced at mid-$100's per night, not including resort fees and tax. The only 2* confirmed for this area were the Super 8 and Extended Stay. For some reason, Hotwire only showed this property as 2* for east of strip Las Vegas, 70% recommended by Hotwire customer reviews, compare to $62 on other sites, and it actually listed no other amenities other than that. After booking, was thoroughly surprised to see that it was the Howard Johnson on Tropicana, not a bad deal for the price we paid though ($36/night, $87 total for 2 Friday and Saturday), we'll just have to drive but it's not too bad since we'll have a car rental. =) Reviews don't look too bad. Location: East of Strip Star rating: 2-star Check-in date: Fri, Jul 12 Check-out date: Sun, Jul 14 Rate per night: $36.00 Nights: 2 Rooms: 1 Tax recovery charges & fees: $15.00 Trip total: $87.00
  2. The dates were for 9/3/2011-9/4/2011. Sunday check-in, Monday check-out. We got there at almost 8:30pm and parking lot was packed. I asked the front desk attendant if they had any events going on. He said there was a big birthday party booked for that night, and also 2 weddings (not booked there but the guests and wedding party were staying there.) Still I asked him if we were in a double bed room, he said we were booked for King non-smoking but he easily changed us to a room with 2 beds. Overall it was a wonderful stay. There were little things like stains on the carpet but beds were extremely clean and comfortable. I think all the rooms were 2-room suites + bathroom. Front room had couches, armchairs, a desk and TV, microwave and fridge with sink countertop. The next room had the beds, another desk, another TV. Bathroom was in the middle. I didn't hear ANY noise at all (some reviews said freeway noise was loud). Some things to note. It is hard to find the road that it's on if you're taking the back streets. Only because the north side of the road doesn't connect with the south side. So if you're following N. Garvey, it ends, becomes some kind of shopping plaza with a Target, and then the easiest way to get there is to go under the freeway, take Holt and make a left on S. Garvey. Checkout was 11:00am. I went out to buy some things and noted on the card on the door that it said "Checkout at 12:00pm". So I stayed out till 11:22am, when I got back my husband told me that a front desk clerk had knocked on our door at 11 to inform us that it was the checkout time. He said we could stay till 11:30 if we had to. We got our stuff to the car and I went to the desk to turn in our keycards around 11:40am, the lady checked and said, "Oh, you have already been checked out. You're good to go." Cool, thanks!
  3. I bid $42 for a 3* in West Covina and it was accepted on the first bid. The Radisson Suites, mixed reviews, but I'm sure it will be fine (we are going to the LA County Fair for it's opening weekend.) Some reviews I read said they had Sleep Number beds so I'm excited to see if that's true. I had also seen this hotel being offered on Hotwire for $50. The 2.5* Best Western showed on Hotels.com that there were no rooms available for our dates (this was my first choice hotel). Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $42.00 Taxes & Fees: $12.74 Total Charged to Card: $54.74
  4. Hello. Yes thanks for pointing out my past 3 posts with questions from 2005 and 2004. The other 2 or 3 were already posts of what I ultimately got from Priceline/Hotwire. Wow, I must be the only person that never followed up with one of my previous inquiries! <yea right> You know, sometimes not everyone thinks to come back here and say "okay, I never found out what the hotel was because I didn't go for it". Thanks anyway though. If I do ultimately bid successfully on a hotel, I will post it here. I'm thinking of going for this *1 star, I wouldn't mind a Travelodge, Red Roof, Days Inn, etc. A lot of those places give free wireless internet access and free continental breakfast, plus have microwaves and fridges in room, which is a lot better to me than being charged $15 a night for parking! =)
  5. Put in for these dates: Feb. 20-22, and one of the hotels offered was this *1 for $39 in the Disneyland North Area, amenities include Continental Breakfast, Pool, and Laundry. Haven't seen any *1 hotels in the Hotwire lists. Have no idea what it is...is there anything else I can do to try to narrow down the possibilities? I've heard people look at other hotels with similar amenities and see if the same dates are available to try to narrow it down...don't know how to go about that actually. Should I try checking Orbitz and Expedia? Any help is appreciated and sorry for my lack of knowledge. =)
  6. I had bid $45 for one night (July 3-July 4) on a 2.5* hotel on Priceline for the Disneyland area. On my first try, bid was accepted and I was informed that I got a free upgrade to a 3* hotel, the Hilton Suites on N. State College Blvd. I stayed here before, this is a nice hotel, with two pools, one indoors, one outdoors, a sauna, whirlpool, fitness center, restaurant, gift shop, and every room is a suite with a separate living room area, kitchenette, and bedroom. Also, parking is free! I had also checked Hotwire, this hotel was going for $58, it was 3.5*, and a Best Value. This is a great deal especially on 4th of July! Check-In Date: Sun, July 3, 2005 Check-Out Date: Mon, Jul 4, 2005 Your Offer Price: $45.00 for a 2.5*, got free upgrade to 3* Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $45.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $12.57 Total Charges: $57.57
  7. Yeah, I see what you mean. It's just that most of the 3* hotels in this area add an additional $10-15 charge for parking per day, and along with buying food and paying for theme park tickets, I figure the parking charge was an expense we could do without. Oh well, can't have it all, I guess!! =)
  8. Sorry to ask, I am still fairly new here! But there doesn't seem to be too much info on the 2* and 2.5* hotels in the Disneyland area. I know there are a lot of lesser than 3* hotels and motels here. Can anyone post what hotels have been won through Priceline, for the 2* and 2.5* rating, in the Disneyland area? Thanks so much, and sorry again if I posted this topic in the wrong area!
  9. Hello! There doesn't seem to be too much Hotwire hotel information about this area of LA, it is the Downey-Commerce-Norwalk (east of downtown) area. Any ideas on which hotel this is on Hotwire? For August 22, 2004 Downey-Commerce-Norwalk 3.5 * Best Value for $45 a night Restaurant, Pool, Fitness Center, Business Center, Golf Nearby Thanks so much!
  10. I am trying to figure out which hotel this is, it's on Hotwire in the Rosemead - Whittier - Montebello (East of downtown LA area). It's 3 and a half stars and the amenities are: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness Center, and Business Center. Also, it's a Best Value hotel, and it's going for $54 a night from May 12-15. Can anyone help? Thanks very very much!!! =)M.Phimmasone
  11. Okay, I looked at My Account and my hotel purchase details, and it doesn't show the Business Icon (even though I think it showed it before I made the purchase cuz I wrote everything down), but these are the icons/amenities it shows: restaurant, pool, fitness center, golf nearby, laundry facilities. Also, looking at the hotel's description on the Holiday Inn website, it does have a whole listing for their Business Services, but I guess it is not showing the Business icon on Hotwire. Hope this helped and sorry for any confusion!! I'm sure I will become familiar with all this as time goes by! Thank you! =)
  12. Hello! Thanks everyone, for your help and suggestions! Actually, I went ahead and got the Torrance-Redondo Beach hotel for $50.00, since I was curious about it. It turned out to be the Holiday Inn Torrance, which is not bad, but probably not as good a deal as others since I checked it on the Holiday Inn website and the rate is $69, with tax. Total I paid is $63. It's in a really good location though and next to the Del Amo mall, so I'm looking forward to it. So if you need to add it to the hotel lists, it is: -Torrance-Redondo Beach (LAX area) HOLIDAY INN TORRANCE 3 stars, Best Value, has restaurant, pool, fitness center, business center, golf, and laundry self-serve
  13. Hello! I am very new to all of this, I always wanted to use Hotwire but was always unsure about it. Now that I've found this forum, I'm really excited to try it! Can anyone help me figure these hotels out that I'm considering - sorry, I kinda have a long list, and I tried figuring it out myself but just ended up feeling kinda dizzy and overwhelmed! I'm going to be staying from April 3-4, 2004 (short notice huh!) guess that's why the prices are a little higher than usual. - Anaheim - Disneyland North for $54 *3 stars, Best Value, has restaurant, pool, fitness center, laundry self service - Anaheim - Disneyland South for $60 *3 stars, Customer Favorite, has restaurant, pool, fitness center, business center (from reading previous posts, I'm guessing that this is the Crowne Plaza??) - Orange County - John Wayne Airport SNA for $54 *3.5 stars, Customer Favorite and Best Value, has restaurant, pool, fitness center, business center, and laundry self-service - Downey-Commerce-Norwalk (East of Downtown LA) for $50 *3.5 stars, Best Value, has restaurant, pool, fitness center, business center, golf - LAX Airport for $63 *3.5 stars, Best Value, has airport shuttle, restaurant, pool, fitness center, laundry (could be the Crowne Plaza??) - LAX Airport for $55 *3 stars, has restaurant, pool, fitness center, business center - Torrance-Redondo Beach (LAX area) for $50 3 stars, Best Value, has restaurant, pool, fitness center, business center, golf, laundry Again, my dates are April 3-4, 2004. Thank you sooooo much for your help and sorry again for my lack of knowledge!
