  1. Just a note for all the bidders, lost of the zones have been changed as of today in San Francisco and it changes most of the rebidding areas so be careful.
  2. I stayed one night at the Quality Inn on my last trip and thought it was quite fine. Yes the location seems a little sketchy and the window in the reception may scare some people, but the subway is just up the street and there are always police officers around there. I parked my car in the street and nothing happened to it. That being said, the subway runs litteraly next to the hotel which can be very annoying but it didn't bother us we laughed at it, depends on the type of traveller you are. We've also stayed at eh Holiday Inn and the Comfort Inn in Park Slope and thought it was a really good deal. Again location seems sketchy but it's perfectly fine and safe and a short walk to the subway and free parking in the street as well as free breakfast and it's a 15 minutes subway ride into Manhattan. I was lucky enough to score the Holiday Inn for $66 on HOTWIRE back in february but have seen it over $300 at times and also got the Comfort Inn for $90 on PRICELINE last month. You may also want to consider the Hyatt Regency on the Hudson, in Jersey City, which regularly goes for around or less than $100 and is a next to a PATH station that takes you downtown.
  3. Wish I had known the Sterling was available through Hotwire, it would have saved me a few bucks from the price I got on Expedia 2 weeks ago. That being said, the place is amazing. Brand spanking new and cool design. Rooms are huge with 2 flat screens, a fireplace, an amazing bathroom and all. Freee parking is a plus and its a quick walk through another hotel's parking to all the fun. be advised though that not all rooms have a jacuzzi. Som have a steam shower which is not as fun for sipping a glass of wine. But still, we absolutely loved it. And the place is really quie. Barely saw anyone although the place was sold out.
  4. Of all 5 zones available in Montreal, only downtown has 4* so that makes 4 rebid zones to try. Be aware that you shouldn't mecessarily base your bid on the results obtained on different dates as the market changes from time to time depending on what is happening in the city. For instance, Montreal is a summer festival city and there's always one during the summer and I do believe it's the FrancoFolies during your date meaning that it can affect the rates.
  5. That was just my guess, I'm by no means an expert and you should start bidding with the amount you want. Better have a no on a lower bid than a yes on an overbid. As for zones, and star rating, as it's been explained it's quite simple. Click the box of each zone individually and you'll the star ratinga available in the zone. If it's greyed out, it means it's not available. That's how you figure out how many rebid zones you have.
  6. Theses are the 4* rebid zones in Toronto : Brampton, Don Valley, Markham, Mississauga, Oakville, Scarborough, Toronto East and Toronto West The way to go is to first select only the zone you want and then bid. If rejected, add another zone and a few dollars to your bid. Proceed until your offer is accepted, adding one zone and a few dollars at every step. If it fails. Then wait 24 h and try again.
  7. Yep, still is. Forgot to print the reservation and contacted Priceline'S customer service twice by email and never received a reply. I was a little nervous since we usually have to bring the print out but contacted the hotel and they saiud it was no biggie.
  8. I got the Courtyard on Yonge for $80 on the 21st of june on 1st bid using the usual PRICELINE link.
  9. Bidding through PRICELINE, you'll have a hard time getting a lower rate than around $110 for a 3-star or better. The lowest rate I see for a 3-star on Hotwire is $176. I'm assuming you'll be in Toronto from Quebec during the St-Jean-Baptiste weekend and hotels in Toronto know about the holiday in QC and adjust the rates accordlingly. Being high on business, TO is more expensive during the week. I got the Courtyards on Yonge for $80 on the 21st of june. You might want to start bidding around $70 for a 4-star in Downtown Toronto. You have many rebid zones, Brampton, Don Valley, Markham, Mississauga, Oakville, Scarborough, Toronto East and Toronto West. With each bid denied, increase your amount by a few dollars. If it doesn't work after you've added all zones, wait 24h and try again the day after and start your bidding at around $75. If the 4-star aproach fails to work, try a 3-star research, here are the rebid zones : Scarborough and Toronto East. Good luck.
  10. That and the Niners are home too. I got a good back up. Thanks for letting me know.
  11. Got part of my trip covered with this win. Started bidding at $90 and had to rebid twice. Reviews are mixed but location is great as we're returning our rental car right in front of the hotel the day we check in.
  12. Thanks for the input. It's still early so I'll be patient and will keep you posted.
  13. We'll pe spending ten days in CA this september and I've begun looking for a room in SF. We'll be there from 09/19 to 09/23 (4 nights) and back again 09/26 to 09/28 (2 nights). I've tried bidding for a 4* in both USE and USW to no avail. Through all the possibilities, the highest offer that was rejected was $110. I know that the Holiday Inn at Fisherman'S Wharf goes for $74 on HOTWIRE but we'd prefer to be downtown and steer clear from the touristy spot. So, is it too early to bid for september or should we expect to simply pay more than we'd expected? Thanks for any input and recommandations.
  14. The first one is probably the Ritz-Carlton and the second hotel is most like the Hyatt Regency.
  15. I got what I think is a pretty good deal. Was trying to get the Courtyards across the street and bid $100. Was rejected but Priceline suggested adding $22 which I did and it was accepted and got upgraded to the Renaissance across the street. Very happy with the win since I was trying to book something in Manhattan and was too expansive. really like the location with the many buses driving by. Booked using SavingsBarn.
  16. Couldn't find what I wanted for the price I was willing to pay. Decided to give NJ a shot as we're used to stay at the Courtyards in Lyndhurst. Saw that it was in the list for 2.5* and lected to bid specifically for this one. 1st bid at $100 was rejected. Priceline suggested to add $22 which I did and it was accepted. I even got upgraded to a 3* at the Renaissance across the street. I looked on Marriott's site and it quoted the stay at $845 whereas Priceline was almost $300 less. I booked using SavingBarn.
  17. Thanks a whole lot. I should be ready to bid next week. I'll let you know how it turns out.
  18. I would probably go for a 4* to begin with. And if it comes to close to $200, I'd try for a 3*.
  19. I really don't mind either actually but certainly would like to keep it on the lower side of the financial spectrum. But I could find a decent 4* at $200, I'd be more than happy to dish it out. As for zones, Midtown East, Midtown South, Midtown West and Upper Midtown are the ones I'm looking at. Should I add Downtown-SoHo?
  20. Sorry abour the other post. Just updated it. Dates for this stay have changed. It would be for four nights from oct. 5th to 8th. WHat would be an appropriate strategy? And should I wait a little longer before I start bidding? I'd be willing to go as high as $200. Is this doable? Should I even consider a 4* at that price point?
  21. It was in fact the Courtyards at Unicorn Park and got it for $63 a night. The hotel was just perfect and a short drive to downtown Boston.
  22. Looking for a 3* room in Manhattan for 4 nights from oct. 8th with a check out on the 12th. Anybody has an idea how much it would be on Priceline?
  23. Just trying to figure out which hotel it is. Fitness, pool, rest., business, laundry Based on your list and the comments on the page that are based on 20+ reviews on tripadvisor, it seems it's the Courtyards on Unicorn dr. Am I correct?
