  1. Can anyone tell me the Priceline areas around Atlanta that would likely not have parking fees for 3* and above hotels? I'm guessing probably most or all in the Downtown and Buckhead areas have parking fees, since all of the few I checked did.
  2. :) Again, couldn't wait any longer for a reply, so went ahead and bid. $40 rejected, $41 accepted. At $39, had msg. to rebid again $10 higher. Courtyard By Marriott Richmond Northwest (Richmond-Innsbrook) Taxes and Fees: $12.85 Total Charges*: $53.85
  3. That's it though, I don't really know if it'll work since I don't know about the areas. I hear Fairfax is good, so I might have to just go for that (or maybe Alexandria) and pray for the best. I was reading about a nice hotel that's next to a homeless shelter somewhere in DC. But maybe (probably would be) that was right in downtown.
  4. ^ Thanks. Reviews for that hotel are mixed, but you aren't the first person to tell me you liked it. FYI, the dates you put in the title are incorrect. As stated above (in the OP and my post the 25th), it's 6/5/10 and 6/6/10 (checking out the 7th).
  5. FYI. Couldn't wait any longer, so went ahead and bid. $40 accepted, free upgrade to 3.5*, Hyatt Regency Princeton (Princeton West). Tried $38 (got "try again for $10 more" msg.), and $39. Taxes & Fees: $19.76 Total Charges*: $99.76
  6. Sorry, didn't know. Will do! I always thought you got some kind of notice or something.
  7. I did for this bid. Not sure if you always say that or implying that I didn't. Thank you
  8. $43 rejected; $45 accepted. Seems like a great price for this date! Courtyard By Marriott Virginia Beach Oceanfront South. Taxes & Fees: $14.11 Total Charges*: $59.11 Thanks a lot for the help!
  9. I'm looking for a 3* or higher, with a max bid of $60. Is that remotely possible in June? The closest posted wins to June are in May. Current prices: 3* Doubletree = $97.30 3* Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort on the Ocean = $219.99 3* Holiday Inn Surfside = $167.99 "Va Beach Oceanfront" 3* Wyndham (57th St and Atlantic Ave) = $152.10 3 free rebid zones.
  10. Is there anywhere safe to stay in the Washington DC area to the east close to Six Flags America? With traffic, I don't want to make an hour drive to Six Flags in the morning (I plan to get there at 10:30). Would most areas near or outside of the I-495 loop generally be safe? I'm looking for a 3 star hotel. To the east, for Priceline's "Maryland - DC Suburbs" area, the Bowie zone is greyed out and the Camp Springs zone has no 3 star. How is the "Greenbelt - Hyattsville" zone area? If those aren't good areas, I've read that Fairfax County Virginia (west of DC) is safe.(?) For Priceline's Northern Virginia area, what zones other than Fairfax would be safe? I think I read Arlington is OK. How about Alexandria? Would Pricelines zones in those areas be too broad to guarantee a safe hotel? I did read the following in the city-data.com forums: "The Arlington, Convention Center-Capitol Hill, Alexandria, and other zones are too big and you might get stuck in an undesirable or inconvenient location (i.e. the Hyatt on D St., NW which is right next to a homeless shelter or the Mark Center Hilton in Alexandria which is nowhere near any public transportation)." But this was in 2008. The zones could have changed since then.
  11. Jerseyguy and thereuare: Thanks a lot for the help. Sorry for the delay. For one, I was a little confused since my other post was moved and concatenated to the front of this one without any notification so it took me a bit to figure out what all happened. Mainly it's taken me awhile to reply because I've been changing my plans a bit. FYI, that's why I had a separate post asking questions in the "Priceline/Hotwire Hotel Lists and Tips for New Jersey" subforum (else what's that subforum for?), vs. one here in bidding help/winning bids. I do still want to bid for the Princeton area for 6/5 and 6/6 however. thereuare, as far as which zones I want to bid for, I'm confused because, again, I'm not sure because I know nothing of the areas (the reason for my other post) and as mentioned, the zones have changed, so I don't know which hotels are in which zones. You said "the Princeton-Monmouth Junction zone is the best", so is that the "Princeton East - Monmouth Junction" and would that mean you don't recommend the Princeton West area? Or did you mean the whole general area is OK? BTW, why not change those hotel list categories here to match priceline? My desired star rating is a 3* (already stated). Sorry I forgot to post a max bid. I thought about it right after posting the OP but couldn't get to a PC then to post it. It's always hard to come up with a max bid, but I'll say $45 (for now). But as far as what I was going to add in the other post for area help, 6/7 I won't be staying near the NJ coast (or NJ at all). I'll ask about that in a more appropriate area.
  12. The max I want to bid is $40. No free rebid zones, but luckily I have two weeks left to bid. Current internet prices: Glen Allen 3.5* Wyndham Virginia Crossings Conference Resort (previously 3*) = $116.10 Innsbrook 3* Aloft Richmond West = $89 3* Courtyard by Marriott = $89 3* Hyatt Place Amerisuites = $110. Hotel name is "Hyatt Place Richmond/Innsbrook" and is in Glen Allen. :)
  13. For 6/4/10, what do you think the cheapest I could get the 3.5* Meadow View Conference Center Resort for? Would around $40 even be possible? It's listed at $105 on priceline and the hotel's website. A 3* would have been fine too, but there doesn't seem to be a 3* in that area. Also why on priceline when I have Kingsport selected, it shows Johnson City as an alternative, but when I have Johnson City selected, Kingsport is not shown as an alternative area? <no screenshots please>
  14. No, we're only going to Six Flags on Sunday. Monday we'll be going to a few pier amusement parks along the coast, ending up at Morey's Piers in Wildwood. So that night we want to stay as close to Wildwood as we can, though Atlantic City would be OK too (distance wise). We couldn't make it to the Cape May ferry in time before their last departure, so can't stay in Delaware. Where is a safe place to stay in or around Wildwood? Is Atlantic City safe enough or should I avoid it?
  15. I need something close to Jackson. As I mentioned here, the two closest areas to Jackson (Toms River and Lakewood) only have up to 2 star. And the next closest area, Neptune-Wall, shows no occupancy. So I guess I'll have to try for the Trenton - Princeton, NJ area. The zones there as listed in BetterBidding's hotel list for this area are different from those listed on priceline. Did they split Princeton East and West since the hotel list was made? The following zones are as they're listed on priceline, with current internet prices. Langhorne - Levittowne 3.5* Sheraton Bucks County = $139. Free parking. 3* Courtyard Langhorne (Langhorne - Levittown) = $161. Free parking. Website states it as "Courtyard Philadelphia Langhorne" Princeton East - Monmouth Junction or? Princeton West I'm not sure which priceline zone these would fall under. 3.5* Marriott Trenton (Trenton - Princeton West) = $99. Parking $13/day. "Trenton Marriott Downtown" 3.5* Westin (Princeton East - Monmouth Junction) = $139.20. Valet parking only? "The Westin Princeton at Forrestal Village" 3.5* Hyatt Regency (Trenton - Princeton West) = $87.20. Free parking. "Hyatt Regency Princeton" 3.5* Marriott Forrestal Village (Princeton East - Monmouth Junction) = $119. Free parking. "Princeton Marriott Hotel & Conference Center at Forrestal" 3.5* Chauncey Conference Center (Trenton - Princeton West) = $149. Free parking, newly-renovated rooms. "Chauncey Conference Center Princeton". Just happened to look this one up on Hotels.com = $144. 3.5* Wyndham Forrestal Village (Princeton East - Monmouth Junction) = $89.10. Free parking. "Wyndham Princeton Forrestal" 3* Courtyard (Princeton East - Monmouth Junction) = $79. Free parking. "Courtyard Princeton" 3* Doubletree Hotel (Princeton East = Monmouth Junction) = $66.75. Free parking. "Doubletree Hotel Princeton" 3* Hyatt Place (Trenton - Princeton West) = $119. Free parking. "Hyatt Place Princeton" South Brunswick - Cranbury 3* Crowne Plaza = $80. Free parking. "Crowne Plaza Hotel - MONROE SOUTH BRUNSWICK" 3* Residence Inn = $129. Free parking. "Residence Inn Princeton-South Brunswick" Trenton ? free rebid zones: Cookstown - Wrightstown Mount Holly
  16. Thanks a lot for the tips! Too bad those in Neptune are sold out. The Courtyard Wall said they're holding rooms only for groups for some race convention. Does anyone else know any more about the Princeton zones?
  17. I haven't had any luck on here getting help when asking about areas to stay in, but since the admin is from NJ, I thought maybe I'd try again. We're going to Six Flags in Jackson, and need to stay around there June 5th and 6th. What is a good safe area to stay in? I'm hoping to use PRICELINE, but the only two zones nearby (Lakewood and Toms River) only have 2 stars and I really want at least a 3 star. And neither zone is listed in the hotel list here so definately won't chance it. The Tinton Falls area has some zones with 3 stars, and the Neptune-Wall zone would close enough to Jackson, though the other 3 zones are getting too far away. Though if it's cheap enough, and my only choice, I'll drive it. In the Trenton - Princeton area, the only close zone (Cookstown - Wrightstown) only has 2 stars. Which of the other zones there would you recommend, or not recommend? Those zones are all about the same distance from Jackson. Could the rates in June be as low as this priceline win? Thank you
  18. I was just asking for someone's opinion on how much it might take to win. A 3* on hotwire just dropped a bit to $86. It's zone is just the immediate Valencia area, so that's fine. From what I remember, there's not a lot of differences in taxes and fees (?) between priceline and hotwire, and there are no 3* hotels listed in the hotel list for Valencia, so knowing nothing about them (they may be the same ones), I'd say $85 is my max bid, else I after that I guess I would continue with just a 3.5* until $90, then after that just get the 3* on hotwire. I'm about out of time and don't really have time to work on other zones now, and I'll have to buy something by around 9PM tonight.
  19. $50 was not accepted. After $46, got the offer to raise by $13 to rebid immediately, but I declined and added rebid zone, bidding $50. Going by that, how much do you think the win would be? Would you mind giving me another bid strategy from $50 up to whatever you think?
  20. Sorry but I don't quite follow you. I'd stated that I wanted to try for a 3* in Valencia. And I was the one asking for feedback, so I'm not sure what you're asking me. I mentioned $60-$65, but also asked for feedback on what to bid. I researched all areas because I don't know much about the areas and didn't know where I wanted to stay. But since then, considering the amount of time it would take (distance/traffic) to drive from those up to six flags, I thought Valencia would be the best choice, unless there was a great price difference.Hoping for some help, I'd already waited longer than I should have to bid (just meaning, since I'm running out of time), so I went ahead and just tried for a 3.5*, since there's only 1 zone with a 3.5, offering 5 rebid zones. I bid up to $85, but it still wasn't accepted. And as the prices I checked show, it's much higher during the week, but I wouldn't think the win would have to be even as high as I bid. Also, I had no idea what to bid, since there's only one reported win in the past year, and that was back around the beginning of January, and on a weekend. FYI, here are the notes I kept to keep up with where I was while bidding (closing browser between all rebids but the very first). Did I do something wrong, and perhaps that's why even $85 wasn't accepted? Valencia $60, add: Van Nuys, $65 Valencia, Burbank, $67 Valencia, Simi Valley, $68 Valencia, Studio City, $70 Valencia, Warner Center, $72 Valencia, Burbank, Van Nuys, 73 Valencia, Simi Valley, Van Nuys, 74 Valencia, Simi Valley, Van Nuys, Burbank, 75 Valencia, Warner Center, Van Nuys, 76 Valencia, Warner Center, Van Nuys, Burbank, 77 Valencia, Studio City, Van Nuys, 78 Valencia, Studio City, Van Nuys, Burbank, 79 Valencia and Simi Valley and Warner Center, 80 Valencia and Simi Valley and Warner Center, Van Nuys, 81 Valencia and Simi Valley and Warner Center, Van Nuys, Burbank, 82 Valencia and Simi Valley and Warner Center and Studio City, 83 Valencia and Simi Valley and Warner Center and Studio City, Van Nuys, 84 Valencia and Simi Valley and Warner Center and Studio City, Van Nuys, Burbank, 85 So if I want to try for a 3* now, can I select 3* and rebid with just Valencia selected? And with just 2 shots at this, with no rebids, how much should we bid? The only recent reported winning bids are on weekends, except for one, $65 ... 2/12/09-2/13/09
  21. I'm not sure how to bid for this since all zones in this region have a 3*. Help.
  22. There are a lot of $40 and $50 winning bids for Orange County area (mainly Disney) and even a $36, and a $48 for Buena Park, so I'd say $50 is my max. Orange County (Buena Park - Cerritos - Cypress) 3.5* Sheraton Cerritos - $115.20 3* Holiday Inn - $103.50 3* Knotts Berry Farm Resort Hotel Radisson - $129 3* Courtyard by Marriott - $109 3* Residence Inn Cypress Los Alamitos - $129 If that doesn't work, would the Orange County (Costa Mesa - Irvine) be a good area too? Also it'll be near the airport (SNA) when we leave Monday. Or any of the other Orange County areas?
