Hi together,
promised to be back when next US trip. Need only one night, starting trip thru New England states in early summer, and just tried Priceline 3* Tarrytown/White Plains area by $105, of course using the savingsbarn.com link. Success with first try - so less should perhaps work as well. Their own net rate is $289, okay a "moon" rate.
So nevertheless I feel good with the rate I got :)
Hi together,
Now at the end I "won" the last outstanding day of my NYC trip. After I had no success with any 4* I was not patient enough and tried with 3*. Thought about Hilton or Sheraton or any else. And of course I did it via Savingsbarn.com !
Started with $140 and Downtown according to our budget. Then always $10 up adding the other districts and as
last - damned, forgot to delete Downtown as more than $200 should be too much for Downtown on weekend - got Holiday Inn. Yes of course in Downtown !
However their best flexible rate on this weekend day is $229, AAA rate is $218. Calculating the priceline fee I'd better booked directly on their net page.
That is what I learned from this ...
Thanks all together, mainly to Thereuare. It's a great job, I'll keep this board in mind for future US trips.
Hi all together,
and first of all THANKS to Thereyouare - your help and suggestions are sooo great !!!
Won thru Priceline with this history: Split my total NYC stay and first got 3 days of Parker Meridien thru HOTWIRE, 12/19/07 - 12/22/07 as posted before on another thread.
Then made two cancellable reservations for backup, as always suggested on this forum.
Embassy Suites North End, 12/15/07 - 12/17/07 (Triple Honnors Promotion $289 and $269).
Millenium UN Plaza, 12/17/07 - 12/19/07 (AAA $169). Both on their own internet pages.
Though that was nearly unbeatable, I tried time by time thru Hotwire and Priceline - and of course always studied all postings.
Today I won - using "Savingsbarn.com" as also learned from you :)
Started with $140 and got the counter offer to increase my bid by $22 without any more changes.
Closed my browser and started again with $146 - rejected. Then $152 - rejected.
So I gave it a chance with $162 and got The Barclay. Internet Advanced Payment rate=$315,
Flexible rate = $429.
Well, it's not well rated on Tripadvisor, but you can't have it all together.
Thanks again for all kind support.
Last I have to try for one more day on 12/15/07, a Saturday - so not that easy. Perhaps on last minute. Will hold you informed how it goes.
Hi titi,
Is it an option to split your stay ? It could be necessary anyway as Dec is a tough time.
Did with my stay, from Dec 15 until Dec 22.
Got Le Parker Meridien through HOTWIRE for $156 but only from Dec 19 until Dec 22.
Amenities: Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Internet, Business, Spa.
But sorry, as I see it's not available now.
So for my stay from Dec 15 until Dec 19 I still did not succeed through priceline
whatever the strategy was including other splits again.
Seems to be too early ....
Ha, you've found another more mistake.
So correction:
I'll travel for one week and splitted it into 4 and 3 days.
So this should be not only one night but three, from 19/12 - 12/22/07.
Amenities: Fitness, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Spa Services.
I know it's crazy to try now for December.
For our first New York visit and for using HOTWIRE
the first time I just couldn't wait ....
Rack rate is $515 so it seems not that bad and later it might
not be much better then.
Looking for more 4 days from 12/15 - 12/19/2007, but that
seems definately too early as the rates are above our limits.
Will try that as "last-minute" starting 2 weeks before,
or is it too much risk ?
Thanks to HOTWIRE - I'm very satisfied for now.
Let's hope that the room will be as good as expected.
3* Lower Fairfield County (Greenwich-Stamford) Holiday Inn Select
in Priceline Hotels - Connecticut
Posted
Used this PRICELINE link and hoped to get the 4* Hyatt Regency for $55, but rejected. Then added 3* and amount $48 - "won" Holiday Inn Select on first try.
Their own Advance Payment rate is $229, so not a bad deal. Although it is not that good Tripadvisor-rated.
