  1. I too am in the NYC during this time and am pondering between this hotel and the one for $49 that you previously mentioned. Now, I've been told you can get to the park and ride in North Bergen and thats 24/7 parking that you pay for. But, how is this La Quinta in Seacaucs vs. the one in Clifton, getting into NYC wise?? Also when you submitted this bid on priceline what star rating was this at? 2.5? 3? I'm open to paying a bit more if it's easier! Thanks!
  2. Hey there, I was looking into a hostel from May 20-24th for a few nights : http://www.westendstudios.com/ Anyone familiar with these or anyone stayed in some hostels around town? It might be cheaper to just stay here, find a long term park for a few nights and be in the city vs. staying at the la quinta and driving from Clifton to North Bergen and paying to take the park and ride to ride the train over. Any thoughts or ideas? Thanks!!
  3. Ok, so we bookd and we got the Extended Stay America Deluxe in Woburn for the 4 nights from 5/16-5/20 and it was a 2.5* w/ pool and fitness.
  4. Well my biggest concern was the transportation and if you tell me theres that park and ride then the closer to the park and ride the better. It would cut down on travel time so I thought I'd give it a try. Less need of driving, maybe shave some time off. But I'm not going to bid an exuberant amount so thats why I asked if I could get in for like $50 in North Bergen.
  5. Would it be possible to get a bid for that amount on a 2.5*??? I book today and was curious if I should try or not before I book the Hotwire hotels?
  6. So on a road trip in May, May 16th-20th to be exact we'd be staying. Would it be reasonable to get a priceline bid in for either a 2.5* or 3* hotel in the city for between $55-$65? Whats the average bidding for round spring time? I'm only really seeing recent bids going for the cold months, Jan/Feb! Thanks! :)
  7. Seeing that 24 hour piece really helps our case for staying out late then. I'll lock this hotel up then on Monday when we book everything and I'll let everyone know what we get an will use the HOTWIRE link to get it! :) Thanks for all the help! Also, what do we think my chances of hitting a 2.5* in North Bergen for $55 a night on priceline would be?
  8. Yeah, after thinking about that, I forgot the whole taking the bus to Newark Penn. Sorry, my fault - bad memory lately. Schools out for the semester so my brain is mush! :) But yes, my plan then is to book the HOTWIRE hotel, pending it still being available. One final option, would it be easier at all to book the 3 star at La Guardia ($76 a night) vs. the 3 star in the Meadowlands ($49 a night)? I'm really only looking, transportation wise if it would be any easier. Thanks!
  9. Ok, well thats good, I'll shy away from it then. My question is about the North Bergen, park and ride, my buddy and I would like to stay late in NYC, is that possible or would our car be towed out after a certain time? If the parking isn't an issue than I'll just book that one in Seacaucus/Meadowlands. My other thought would be this. I see my old hotel I booked last november when I flew into NYC for the week. We ended up staying at the Country Inn and Suites in Newark which was a great hotel. We had no problems getting to and from NYC but didn't come back to the hotel as often as we would like because we only were able to find the NJ Transit train from Penn station to NY Penn Station and that was $15 one way. I'm told now there's a PATH train that would only be around a buck or two to take into NY Penn Station. Staying here before, I know the shuttle from the hotel to Newark train station runs every 15 minutes 24/7, but does the PATH train run as late? If it does, would this seem a viable option as it's $75 a night on hotwire and would come with free parking as well??
  10. Well I mean I was looking at the Super 8 motel, not the Days Inn. I called the facility and the gentlemen on the line stated they run it every 15 minutes for $2 each way, on trip advisor as well people review this hotel pretty highly and as of the most recent review from Jan 5th, a person stated it was easy to get in and out via the shuttle for $2 "Good hotel for bargainers. We stayed for 5 night without problem. Easy transport via Paterson-Newyork buses for 2$ each person." (From TripAdvisor http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g4...ew_Jersey.html) I am wrong in the train part though, I misread there, it is the #125 bus from the Path station that runs near the hotel, bout half a mile. "The #125 NJ Transit bus from NYC Port Authority Bus Terminal stops nearby at 30th Street and JF Kennedy Boulevard by the Toys 'R Us. The distance is about 0.27 miles per Mapquest. The #129 and #190 NJ Transit bus appears to run in front of the hotel on its way to NYC Port Authority Bus Terminal. The return bus #129 or #190 drops off at 31st Street and JF Kennedy Boulevard. map" (Via http://www.broadwayfocus.com/nj_nyc/) I just called the Super 8 again and got a woman this time that stated the shuttle into NYC drops you at the path station and runs every "10-15" minutes from 6am-11pm, again as the Tripadvisor reviews state. It also comes with Comp Breakfast and Free Parking. The actual hotel: http://www.super8.com/Super8/control/Booki...mp;brandInfo=SE Does everyone feel this is a safe alternative or that this would be easier to get in and out of the city with little hassel? I apologize if I came across sounding a bit facetious there, I'm just wanting to show everyone where I got my information from so theres a better understanding going in about why I was thinking this hotel. Thanks!
  11. So a new idea I've thought about/discovered, is while reading the link in the "Staying in NJ to see NYC" post I read about staying in North Bergen. Theres a days inn that with my AAA discount I can get for $80 a night, now we're not looking for somewhere awesome. The hotel has free parking and a $2 each way shuttle service from the lobby to NYC (both I confirmed when I called em earlier) which are big things for us! It's this hotel vs. the $49 one on hotwire which we would drive our car to train station and pay $20 a day to park and then wouldn't have the freedom to come and go as we please, granted its $2 each way w/ the hotel shuttle but we could still come back to the hotel a lot cheaper if we did, theres also a path station that runs very near thats a half mile walk if we came back after the 11pm shut off of the shuttle service. Has anyone tried this at all or have any opinions on this plan? I just think of it like this: Hotwire hotel = $49 a night + $20 per day parking + Bus/Train Service $9 or 10 = $79 or $80 + Traveling Time Super 8 motel = $80 a night + $2 shuttle + 15 minute to NYC and back = $80-$90 a night (pending how often we go back and forth) The ability to come back and forth and just come from our room straight to the shuttle is something that would be worth the money in my opinion. I'm open to any suggestions or opinions. I greatly appreciate it as we'll be booking come monday! :) THanks!
  12. How was it with the park and ride price wise? My friend and I are probably going to book this hotel on monday and I just wanted to finalize the details. So, I'm just looking at how you farred with getting to and from NYC as I'd be interested in getting back and forth a few times, maybe, each day from NYC to the hotel. Pending price of course. I saw another post that stated they didn't get jersey city for $100 a night so I'm going forward on this one. I appreciate any help!
  13. THe dates we're traveling are 5/20/08-5/24/08, we're going to try and hit priceline for either a 2.5 or a 3 for around $65 a night in Jersey City, and our fall back plan is the meadowlands hotel for $42 a night on hotwire, we're booking on Monday 1/14/08. Any ideas or opinions from anyone?
  14. Is there a park and ride at any of the path locations? We probably stay at a hotel in the meadowland area and drive to one of the stations and park there. Thanks!
  15. Thanks for all that, we're trying to keep it as cheap as possible, I'm getting that hotel you just purchased for $49 a night and was looking at booking that as we have my friends car to get us to a park and ride or something else. What would be our best option with having his car to get to a station that would have a cheap train or rail into NYC? I'm open to any and all ideas with being this far out. Thanks!
  16. rqdave you're awesome. I was about to book this for my trip to NYC and was curious as to what it was. Now theres no mystery! Thanks!! :)
  17. Alright, we'll be booking on the 14th. Any name brand hotels that this could be? We're more interested in Boston, the hotel is just a place to lie our heads. Such a crap shoot here....I'm unsure...
  18. Yes, this will work well as we're going down for some shopping and a trip to Ikea. Thanks for the help! :)
  19. 1* With 8 Amenities So I'm continuously looking for my trip to Boston from May 16-20th and I'm checking in the Burlington-Woburn area when I get a 1 star for $35 a night w/ the following amenities: Comp Breakfast, Pool, Business Center, Restaurant, High Speed Internet, Laundry, Golf Nearby, and Fitness Center? What kind of hotel is this that it would have all those amenitites and only be a 1* for $35 a night? Anyone have any information or ideas on how this could be? A legit hotel? Glitch in the system? I'd appreciate any help that can be given on this one as I may book it (down the road) and cross my fingers. Thanks! By the by, I've also done this search numerous times and this hotel has come up every time.
  20. So I went forward on it as it dropped $6 and for $55.31 (including taxes) I ended up with the Hawthorn Suites Schaumburg North which listed amenities with Comp Breakfast, High Speed Internet, Pool, Fitness center, and Business center. Thanks to all those that helped! Now hopefully this can help people going ahead! :)
  21. Sorry, checking in Saturday March 1st and checking out March 2nd.
  22. So I'm looking for a hotel in Schaumburg on Hotwire for one night for a little shopping and I came across a 3* for $49 a night with the following ammenities: Comp Breakfast, High Speed Internet, Pool, Business Center, and Fitness Center. Looking on the lists I cant seem to find one that matches this. Anyone know or have anything on this hotel at all? Thank you!
  23. Alright I talked with my friend and we're going forward with our road trip. Leaving May 16th-20th for Boston (road tripping it!) and then we leave the morn of the 20th and drive into Jersey City and hop over to NYC from the 20th-24th. We're booking on Jan 14th, so I'll let everyone know how it goes! Thanks everyone so much for all you're help! I'll also to be sure to book through the HOTWIRE link from here. :)
  24. Yeah it would be nice to be embassy, i'll have to book soon then. My buddy is coming out next week and I'll have to lock this up!
