  1. This was a decent 2* hotel conveniently located off Interstate 64. Close, but not walking distance to WalMart and other stores and restaurants. There is no *front desk*, just an office to sign in. There is no real lobby, just a small area with a couch and TV. The room was clean and comfortable. The kitchen area had a full sized refrigerator/freezer, stove/oven, micro, sink, coffemaker, toaster, and equipped with dishes and utensils. The kitchen would definately have been a plus had I stayed a few more days. Bath was small but okay. Nothing to rave about, but not bad. :) I posted pictures of this hotel room on the *Real Hotel Photos*
  2. Bid was accepted on the first try........... $26.00 Bid $10.98 Taxes and fees ___________ $36.98 Total And, as always, I went thru SavingsBarn.com to place the Priceline bid. :)
  3. oops, the date of the stay is supposed to be November 24 to the 26, not Oct.
  4. Extended Stay America Louisville - Hurstbourne First/only bid $27. East Louisville Zone, only. Accepted without counter offers. This is the day before Thanksgiving. $27 bid $11.15 taxes and fees _________ $38.15 total Thereuare, This 2* Extended Stay and 2* Homestead (below) are both new East Louisville hotel wins to BetterBidding. :)
  5. Homestead Studio Suites We just need a clean place to spend the night over Thanksgiving. I tried bidding $24 for a 2* ....rejected, but Priceline counter offered at $30. Kept the $24 and dropped to 1*.......rejected. Waited out my time and bid $28 for a 2*......offer accepted $28 bid $56 subtotal $15.93 taxes and fees total $71.93 - for 2 nites Homestead Studio Suites Thanks for your advice, Thereuare! :)
  6. Hey Thereuare, Can you offer me some advice bidding on a 3* on the same date (Jan.7th) and same area (Downtown Miami)? We would like to pay less than $50. Thanks.
  7. I bid this for my parents. They really enjoyed staying here. The room was plenty big enough for them, plus a teen grandaughter. They were given 2 queen beds. The room was clean and in decent shape. There was a complimentary continental breakfast. The location was ideal for seeing shows and dining.
  8. There are larger rooms available in this hotel. My sister had a small room the first time she stayed here. Her second stay she asked for, and recieved a larger room. Wouldn't hurt to ask. She also recieved free cocktail vouchers, but I think it was because she was cute and chatty. :)
  9. 2* Moline Holiday Inn Convention Center/Airport This hotel is close to the expressway and very near the Moline International Airport. In phoning ahead to reserve specifics, I was told that the Priceline rooms were one double bed and if I wanted larger it would be an extra charge. When I got to the hotel I asked again for a king bed and the guy at the front desk said *no problem*........ without charging me extra. Go figure...... The hotel is quite nice and worthy of 2* or better. The room was clean, modern, efficient, a bit smallish..... but not claustrophobic. Equipped with a coffeemaker, the usual toiletries and hairdryer. No micro or fridge. The bed was very comfortable. This is a Holidome hotel with all the rooms surrounding a large enclosed atrium area that has a large pool with a waterfall, a nice sized hot tub, mini golf, ping-pong tables and game room. There were 2 floors with elevators, and wheelchair access in the atrium. There's a restaurant that looks nice and you can dine in the open atrium if you wish. There's also a lounge, which I didn't enter. There's a McDonalds next to the hotel, and various carryout pizza and sandwiches within a short distance. There's also an Airport Supperclub across the street. (Also theres a full menu at the hotel itself). A gas station with food and beer is also next to the hotel. There's a mall nearby. I really enjoyed this hotel, and at $31, it was a steal. The other Priceline Moline 2* La Quinta that we stayed in last time is close to this Holiday Inn. Both are very acceptable to stay at.
  10. This hotel is just fine...... and quite a surprise, as I thought I would get the La Quinta again if I rebid for Moline. It looks like this Holiday Inn could be better than the La Quinta. It's got alot of ammenities, which we'll use. I was just hoping for something that maybe overlooked the Mighty Mississippi in Rock Island. Oh well, I'm happy....... and after viewing Holiday Inns website rack rate, I sure did save some $$. Priceline rocks! Moline Holiday Inn
  11. 2* Moline Holiday Inn Convention Center-Airport 6/30/05-7/1/05 First bid was $30 for Rock Island, Il.. My offer was declined, and had no counter-offer. I added a dollar and added the nearby Moline zone. Accepted. $31.00 bid $11.29 taxes and fees $42.29 Total
  12. I concur with Mak136 My sister stayed at the Clarion, wanting the pool for her kids while I stayed at the Fairfield Inn. She basically said the same thing at Mak136. The 2*Fairfield Inn is in much better shape and has the free breakfast in the morning (altho it doesn't have the pool).
  13. Steph58, Thanks for reassuring me that I probably did not overbid. I thought it may be an overbid because of the low rack rates for 2* in Branson. I've bid $35 for a 3* in my local area. My parents are very happy with their *win* location (walking distance to many attractions) and the price they paid. They are also happy with getting the HoJo. If they're happy-I'm happy!
  14. Hi Thereuare This board has been such a help to me, and so have you. I am happy to add any new info I can. :) Yes, this was my first and only bid with this stay and there were no counter-offers. Bid $35 and they took it. I hesitated at first, and was going to drop the bid a few bucks, but it looks like there are no free rebid zones in Branson and I just wanted to make sure they had the room. I am curious as to what their bottom line would be. Of course I used the Savings Barn to make the purchase. :)
  15. Got this for my parents. 4 nites at the HoJo :) bid $35.00 subtotal $140.00 taxes/fees $25.62 total $165.62
  16. Right, the initial bid was 2 nites for a 2.5* at $27 but was countered. Preferring the 2.5* to the 3* in this case, how would I have proceeded from there without accepting the counter....which would probably have been turned into an upgrade to 3* Hyatt anyways, but at a higher price. I dont think the $27 for 2.5 was out of line. Should I have stayed with rebidding at $27 for one nite? Actually it really isnt that important, just curious on how to bid next time.
  17. Thanks Thereuare. Now I realize why they gave me a 3*. $30 is what the 3*s were going for. I am curious what would your take be on why they refused my initial bid. Was it the bid, the date, or the 2 nites together? What would you have bid with the option of changing the 2 nites to one, but two nites and 2.5* preferred? I know it is only a few bucks, but I am more concerned on how this whole Priceline thing works and I'd like to beat the system. LOL :)
  18. My daughter requested I bid for her on a 2.5*, hoping she would get her preferred Courtyard Marriott if they accepted her bid. I bid for 2 nites at $27, and Priceline countered to up it another $7. I wasn
  19. :) Fairfield Inn East Louisville. This is a great 2* hotel for the $24 per nite Priceline price I paid. We only needed a clean basic hotel to return to sleep at after visiting with relatives in a nearby town. The rooms were quite nice, modern, and in good shape. There are 3 floors, the first two being outside entry to the rooms. I much prefer hallway entry, so I requested the 3rd floor. Your choice is one King or two double beds. There is also a desk and 2 comfy chairs in the room. There is a lobby and seperate breakfast area with complimentary coffee, tea, juice, yogurt, fruit, hot/cold cereal, bagels and rolls. One can even make their own Belgium waffles. There is shopping, restaurants and fast foods nearby. I will definitely return to this hotel on my next visit to East Louisville.
  20. Curious if Priceline would take a bid of $21, the bid was flatly rejected. Because I wanted only the 2* , and assuming there were no free rebid zones, I waited out my sentence to try again. No problem with bidding the safe $24 again. Check-In Date: Thursday, November 25, 2004 Check-Out Date: Friday, November 26, 2004 Hotel Name: Fairfield Inn Louisville East 9400 Blairwood Road Louisville, Kentucky 40222 502-339-1900 Your Offer Price: $24.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $24.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $10.41 Total Charges: $34.41
  21. Time for our annual Thanksgiving Pilgrimage to Kentucky..... :) Fairfield Inn (Louisville East) Your Offer Price: $24.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $48.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $14.11 Total Charges: $62.11
  22. Hi thereuare, Not only did my sister get a suite, but also a couple of complimentary cocktail coupons. She is very personable. :) My sister was hoping for the Hyatt. This may not be true, but it has been my experience lately that, if the Lisle Hyatt is available for Priceline, a $28 to $30 bid takes it, otherwise the offer goes to Marriott, which requires a higher bid. My hunch before bidding was, if they took the $28 she'd get the Hyatt otherwise she'd have to pay more and get the Marriott. And that's just what happened. Of course I know that with Priceline, anything can change. She would much rather have had the Hyatt...... but because of the upgrade to suite, she was happy with the Marriott. And for $35, you can't beat the price!
  23. Marriott Hickory Ridge Conference Hotel Your Offer Price: $35.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $70.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $15.06 Total Charges: $85.06 I did a last minute offer for a 3* Lisle/Naperville hotel for my sister. My first offer of $28 was countered with Priceline wanting another $7..... and not having a lot of time, I just gave in and was happy with the bargain I got. The Marriott's rooms are cramped and small. Knowing this, my sister asked the manager if she could have a larger room and she was awarded a suite without charge. :)
