  1. Trying to get one night Friday March 20th. Ideally, would like a 5 * in the North strip, but would accept the South and possibly off strip, but not downtown. I tried $99.00 and was rejected. Am I way off going that low ? Thanks smardie
  2. I am also trying to get a 5 star hotel, but just for Friday night. I am staying in a condo the first few nights. My 5th year going to March Madness in Vegas and love it. I noticed you can score good deals for Wed night, but Friday and Saturday much harder. I just tried and was rejected on a $145.00 for 5 star for North and South strip as well as rejected like the loser I am for a 4.5. I know it is early and not expecting to win now, but keep trying just the same. Way back in the day I used to think Hotwire was better, but they seem to never have good deals as they did before. Mark
  3. I have also been looking at those dates and have learned the American Dental Association is in town and they have pre-booked many of the Marriott hotels downtown. I think waiting closer to the dates you are going might be best . But will take any suggestions myself. Thanks Mark
  4. I know it is early, but decided to start trying to book two rooms for a 4* or 3.5 * room in downtown SF. So far , no luck. I tried Union Square East at $101.00 and got not results, came back and added 3.5 stars and added zone 12 at $106.00 . no luck and then tried zone 2, 3 and 1 , each time adding a little money all th way up to $116.00 , but nothing. Will try back tomorrow. Any tips . I will say, usually, it takes several seconds for the results, but each time, it was an instant no. Not sure if that is a bad sign. For a 3.5, it said the average cost for $209.00
  5. Today, started out with a $70.00 bid for $ star in downtown Portland, was rejected, came back and tried 3.5 stars and won the Hilton Twin Towers. I was happy with that property. Hilton is usually pretty good about helping out . Mark
  6. I tried yesterday for $55.00 a room for two rooms, but was rejected. Hotwire in my experience is always been higher and not as good hotels as Priceline. I will take my chance and bid $70 for one room downtown in Portland on Priceline and then will hope the hotel can give us two beds. I noticed Priceline does not even have any 2.5 star hotels in downtown.
  7. I tried again today for two rooms and upped my price to $45.00 per room for 2.5 star and was rejected.
  8. Trying to get two rooms for downtown Portland on 2/8. Started out low at $35.00 to see if I get a 2.5 star, which failed, then tried a 2 star and also failed. My other choice would be just to get one room, with two beds and bid $55.00 to $65.00 for a 3 star to 3.5 star Is it possible to get a room in downtown Portland for under $40.00 ?
  9. I started out at $65.00 for a 4 star Hotel for downtown Portland, but did not get it and was told if I increased to to $81.00 I would stand a better chance. I decided instead to go down to 3.5 stars and changed my bid to $62.00 and ended up getting the Marriott City Center on Broadway, which is right across the street from the Benson. I am happy with my bid and happy with Better Bidding
  10. We have all stayed Midtown lots of times and are wanting to try a new neighborhood for this trip. A good friend who lived there for many years also loves both the hotels I mentioned. I would like to try Chelsea, but our friends want to go 4* since it is a special occasion and Priceline does not have a 4* option in that neighborhood. We are fully aware that we will pay more to be in the ESB area, and are fine with that. Tonight we will both try $130, then $135 if that fails.
  11. We are trying for this area with another couple for next weekend and started at $120, then $125. Did not get anything yet. We will try again today at $130. We really want to get either Morgans or 70 Park Ave. 70 Park Ave is quoting $188 on their website and HOTWIRE says they will do $139, so hopefully we will get something for a little less. Any thoughts???
  12. We ended up getting the Millennium UN Plaza for $170.00 a night. it was a great location, over looking the Hudson River and right at the 9/11 site, quite moving . Very close to the subway . Would stay there again .
  13. I have followed up with my New York City stay earlier this year. I also have kept trying to get something for Santa Fe on Priceline but so far no luck. I just tried this evening for a 4 star hotel in "Plaza " area, I put in a bid for $175.00, but did not get anything .
  14. Got a great deal on the Courtyard by Marriott on Priceline for $48.00 on 8/11/2005 great location, right by Washington Square Mall and off Hwy 217 . Great staff, big room, would stay there again.
  15. I am looking for help in trying to get an hotel/resort in Santa Fe , New Mexico Sept 9-12 . We would prefer 3+ star hotel or resort. Is it better to wait until right before I leave to get something on either Priceline or Hotwire ? It seems like everything I have checked so far, has been around $200 a night. Thanks Mark
  16. My wife and I are looking for a nice hotel in or close to Greenwich Village. Are there any hotels in that area or close? We would prefer 3-5 star hotel. We will be coming on 3/4 ( friday) for one night. Thanks for your help p.s. when do you think we should try to book a couple days before?
