Roll-in shower is listed as an amenity on my Hotwire account trip details. I would say it had a roll-in bathroom, but not a roll-in shower. A wheelchair could easily get in the the bathroom area and turn around, however the shower was a standard tub/shower combo - i.e. it is necessary to step over the edge of the tub to get in.

Had been planning to book what I was pretty sure was this property for a while but we weren't 100% sure of our plans so I waited until the last minute. It had been running $89 on HOTWIRE for a while and it was a slight bummer that it was on the way up the last few days ($91, $92 - yeah I nitpick over $3, lol). Today, however, HOTWIRE is running a $20 off "hot rates" sale. So I booked it for $91. After taxes/fees and then subtracting the $20 discount the total came to $89.79. Lowest rate on Hyatt website (pre-pay, no refund) is $144. Not bad! In Pittsburgh for a wedding but we wanted something for our last night closer to the airport since we have early flights. Started bidding 3.5* with 11 re-bids from $40 but rejected on all. Lowered to 3* with 6 re-bids and hit at $60 (2 rooms). Price per room after tax came to $72.76. Not bad considering the current non-refundable prepay rate is $170/night plus tax! Very happy with this win.

Worked my way up on 3.5 & 4 stars - hoping for Red Lion since it's been nailed for around $50 for dates close to this, but this one seems nice and should be a nice getaway for my wife & I to see Chris Isaak at the Grove. Used the PRICELINE link from here of course.

Would have preferred Westin, but Sheraton will do just fine. Really just needed something close to the Rose Bowl. Of course I used the PRICELINE link through Better Bidding. What I identified as most likely the Sheraton was available on HOTWIRE for $89. Tried $55 Pasadena area - denied. Added Monrovia/Duarte and bumped to $59 - denied. Waited 24 hours, tried $62 Pasadena - denied. Added Monrovia/Duarte and bumped to $65 - denied. Waited 24 hours, tried $69 Pasadena - accepted! Sheraton Pasadena. Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $69.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $69.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $16.70 (USD) Total Room Cost: $85.70 (USD) I believe the Sheraton also chargers about $13 for parking. :)

Sounds like South Point Hotel/Casino - not really walking distance - it's a trek away from everything. It's even south of the airport. *edit: I just checked the distance from South Point to Mandalay Bay, which is technically the start of the "casino" strip, (although it's really kind of far from everything too) - it's about 6 miles. They might have a shuttle, but I'm not sure.

Most likely on the Strip, but don't really mind walking a few blocks if necessary. I'm VERY familiar with Vegas - i.e. they take my money all the time, lol. I've got a back up room reserved at the Sahara for a very good weekend rate of $56/night, but I wouldn't mind getting something a little nicer and closer to the south end. At least it's next to the monorail. I won a bid for the Renaissance last year and that was pretty nice (although I prefer a hotel with a casino), and I've noticed a couple of recent weekend wins for about $60 there, so I might try to get that again. (I realize that the Hard Rock is a 4 star in the same zone and I could end up with that, although I've never seen anyone win the Hard Rock for that cheap on a weekend). We're coming in for the U2 show and I figured it might be better to start early with this one since hotels may fill up because of that.

I do not see either of these listed on the list of Hotwire identified hotels here, and I've searched some Vegas maps trying to figure them out - any ideas? I've listed ALL amenities (after clicking "continue" and then "show all amenities" on Hotwire). #1) 3 star in Near Strip South $79/night, Trip Advisor rating 3.5 out of 5: Boutique hotel, casino, smoke-free rooms, airport shuttle, fitness center, pool, restaurant, high-speed internet, golf #2) 3 star in Near Strip East $89/night, Trip Advisor rating 4.0 out of 5: casino, airport shuttle, fitness center, pool, restaurant, business center, high-speed internet I'm leaning toward a Priceline bid for this trip, but if I can figure out what hotels these are that may change my mind. On HOTWIRE you don't pick the price, you just get a cheaper room and find out what hotel after you purchase. For your dates (2 people in room) I currently only see one 4 star in the central strip area listed, and I believe that it's probably Treasure Island for $149. Keep checking though, I've seen different hotels show up and then disappear and then show up again all the time.

My guess would be South Point. Seems to match the amenities on the Hotwire list.

If you click on "continue" does it show an extra amenity which would be spa? The first page on HOTWIRE only shows up to 8 amenities and sometimes there's more if you click continue. When I run your dates, I do get the same hotel, and on the second page it also shows the spa icon, which leads me to believe this is MGM.

Unfortunately, it's usually pretty difficult to get out of a PRICELINE win without a verifiable emergency of some kind (death in family, medical problem, etc.). You can always try, but you may be stuck. On a positive note, I've stayed at Golden Nugget a few times and thought it was very nice.

If you have AAA a good cancelable backup could be Planet Hollywood. If you go to the Planet Hollywood website and click on special offers they have a AAA special on your nights for $89/night.

I'm not an expert, but the first one looks like Excalibur to me. Not sure about the second one - the 3 stars listed in the Hotwire hotel list on this site show Imperial Palace and Riviera, so it could be one of those, but they show more amenities like spa and pool.

Had a cancelable reservation here for $115 (AAA). Surprising my 8 year-old with a St Louis trip and 2 Cardinal games. I've been checking Hotwire once a day just to see if this hotel was a possibility. A 3.5* kept coming up but with fewer amenities - I think it might have been the Crowne Plaza. I found out today that the hotels that pop up on Hotwire change throughout the day, not just from day to day. I checked several times today and came up with different results about 5 or 6 times. Finally tonight a new 3.5* with different amenities showed up that matched Tmcmartian's description for the following week (see that thread below). Sure enough, inked the same hotel at about 1/2 the price I had reserved - I am very pleased! I've checked a lot of review sites and this hotel consistently gets great reviews. Used the HOTWIRE link through this site of course. Looks like a great deal! I've been reading great reviews of this hotel. I have this hotel booked via AAA (4 diamond) rate ($115) for April 1-4. It doesn't appear to be one offered by HOTWIRE for my dates, though. They offer a 3.5 star for $59, but the amenities only include fitness, restaurant, pool and laundry, so I fear this may be something different (Crowne Plaza perhaps?). I'm taking my kid to a couple of Cardinal games and really would prefer this hotel, so I'll probably just suck it up and pay the difference, but I still check HOTWIRE everyday just to see if anything different pops up. Was shooting for Golden Nugget since our friends are staying there, but I gambled with the zones a bit (it IS Vegas, afterall). The Renaissance has received good reviews though. It's a bit low-key for Vegas since there's no casino, but that'll probably end up saving me from blowing (all) my money at the tables (again)! Lowest rate I've seen elsewhere is $178 for these dates. Ended up using Planet Hollywood Player's Club deal. Enjoyed this hotel very much, by the way. We never noticed any noise due to the remodeling, received great service and were upgraded to a resort room on the 38th floor with a view of Bellagio fountains and Paris. :)

Just an update on my search - I procrastinated too long on the Harrah's "hot deal" and it's now up to $149. But I found a special promotion for Aladdin (Planet Hollywood) on a coupon site for $109. It is a player's club deal but there's a work around (you can book it without being a member, and just need to get a player's card before you check in). Rack rate is $189, Hotwire is $174. That's now my backup hotel (was never too thrilled with Imperial Palace) and most likely what we'll go with unless rates fall drastically in the next 2 months.

Still sporadically checking rates for this trip...rates seem to be creeping up for my dates so I may have to stick with Imperial Palace, but I've got a couple more questions for anyone with an answer: 1) I may be able to lowball Hotwire with their double the difference guarantee. Hotwire shows this hotel: 3.5* central strip casino, pool, high-speed internet, spa, fitness, restaurant, golf $138 "hotel details" doesn't show any extra amenities (i.e. tennis) so I'm guessing this is Harrah's, not Ballys. Harrah's has a "hot deal" rate on their website of $109. Using the double the difference thing would bring the rate down into the $80 range. Is this a good gamble? I've never tried that before. 2) uh, never mind question #2 I just figured it out! :) Once again thanks for the help and if I book through Hotwire, Priceline, etc. I will use the links on this site!

De La Hoya / Mayweather fight is that weekend also (AND it's at the MGM) - just another reason rates are higher. I doubt you can be successful for MGM for anything very affordable. With that huge of an event going on, they'll probably sell out at rack rates. Not sure about the Westin.

We'll be in town for The Police concert at the MGM and were just looking for something reasonably close. We usually stay at Stratosphere but wanted to stay toward the south strip this time. Our backup, Imperial Palace, is a good location for us but we've stayed there before and it wasn't the greatest. Looking for a different 3* (4* would be nice, but probably unlikely) for close to the same price ($85). I've come close to going with what appears to be the Westin on Hotwire for $59 ($62 today), but I've read so many differing reviews I've been hesitant - i.e. some say it's close to the strip, some say it isn't, some say because they allow pets it smells, some say you don't even notice, etc. The pet thing is probably our biggest deterrent since the wife is very allergic. South Point is probably a bit too far south for us, especially since the monorail doesn't even go that far. Anyway, don't put too much effort into for me, I just saw this 3* and thought maybe it was a place I missed. I will definitely use the HOTWIRE link (or another, if applicable) through this site to begin any purchase, and I'll be sure to update this thread with my result. Thanks!

Yes, still on a current Hotwire search as of 7:43 PM Pacific time on 3/30/07 (2 adults, 1 room). It's not listed as south strip, but as "McCarran - near strip south" (missed the McCarran part in my first post). I'm now guessing Hotwire has changed the name of the zone from "Airport LAS" to "McCarran - near strip south" and this would be the South Point?

Evidently I was misunderstood above when I said "Have used this for research MANY times, but this is my first time posting." To clarify, I have used this site for research many times for THIS particular trip. I have not yet actually booked a room after using this site. I will gladly post any future results when I do book a room based on that research. That being said, anyone have a clue what hotel the above refers to? Thanks again!
