Just got San Diego CA Marriott in Gaslamp Quarter on Hotwire for $142/night. Booked for Apr 24-26, 2008. Total for 2 nights= $320.70 w/ taxes. Booked through betterbidding link. Amenities included 1) Smoke free rooms 2) Restaurant(s) 3) High speed internet 4) Fitness Center 5) Business Center I thought it was probably the Hotel Solamar (Kimpton hotel) or possibly the Omni. (none that I noticed in the hotwire hotel list included non-smoking rooms as an amenity). Best price I saw on other sites for this Marriott (booking directly or through another travel site) was $249 (w/o tax). Thanks for all the info and advice- it is a really helpful service.

Can anyone give me any advice about where to park my car? Last time, I parked in the Grant Park/Millenium Park parking because I was staying at the Hyatt Regency. Is there any better/closer/cheaper options for me? I need it to be cheap and safe (for both car and myself obviously). I'm a little nervous due to the reviews of the knickerbocker on tripadvisor, but the hotels seem to be a bit expensive for my budget on that week, and this is the best price I've seen for a few days of checking hotwire and other sites (like Quikbook). Any suggestions about theater or concert options that weekend? General restaurant or sight-seeing advice would also be great. I've been to Chicago before a couple of times, but my boyfriend has never spent much time there (only a quick trip to the art institute previously). Parking: If you decide to park at the North Grant Park Garage near Michigan Ave it is $22 for 24 hours. It might be a bit of a walk, but it is safe and relatively cheap (although no in/out allowed). When I asked the concierge at the Hyatt Regency where I stayed last night about parking there and safety he said that "You could walk around that area with $100 bills hanging out of your pockets and be fine. Your car will be fine there. Don't walk south of 35th st, though or you're on your own. " Good luck, and have a good time. velocitygrl

I'd never used priceline before, and I feel like I got a good deal :) Thanks for all the advice on these forums!!. I won the Hyatt Regency on Wacker for $60 for one night 2/26/07. It was perfect for a last minute trip to the city. I know this hotel gets mixed reviews, but I liked it, and I think it has a great location. Original bid was $40 for 4* loop hotels (rejected). Eventually raised bid to $60 (totaled $76 with taxes) and won. My friends who were staying in the not-very-nice Essex hotel were pretty jealous (they paid $115/night).
