  1. I started with your PRICELINE link. I was looking for a 3 star property near the airport (where I had gotten the Hyatt Place the last two times I had bid). I bid $44 and was rejected; however, I was told that I could guarantee a win if I increased my bid to $53. I declined. I added a rebid zone and bid $45. My bid was upgraded to 3.5 star and my bid was ACCEPTED by the Doubletree Hilton. I will miss the free breakfast at Hyatt Place, but at least I get the free cookie at check-in. :)
  2. Started with your PRICELINE link. Chose 2.5 star in Macon (North) - bid $35 - Rejected Added rebid zone - bid $38 - Rejected Added rebid zone - bid $40 - Rejected Added rebid zone - bid $42 - ACCEPTED
  3. I began with your PRICELINE link. For about a week, I have been bidding for the Fort Lauderdale Airport zone. Because Priceline shows just two zones in Fort Lauderdale with only 3 star hotels. I would bid $52, add a rebid zone, and then bid $55. My bids were not accepted. Today, I started my bidding at $52 and immediately won the Hilton. I was hoping for Hyatt Place (because there is no parking fee), but the Hilton is not too bad. Advance purchase rate for this night on the hotel's website is $79.
  4. I began with your PRICELINE link. For the past several days I had bid for the Airport zone using rebid zones. I had bid $44, $46, and $48 without success. Today I used rebid zones and bid as follows: $45, $47, $49, $50. My $50 bid was accepted. (At the $45 bid, Priceline guaranteed me a hotel if I raised my bid to $58, so I had an idea of what my maximum bid would be.) I had previously gotten this hotel for $46 and noticed that someone else had gotten it for $48 (both for one-night stays), so I may have been able to get it for a lower price if I had waited a little longer. However, I am very pleased with this deal, especially since this was the precise hotel I was looking for (free parking and complimentary breakfast!). Thanks again for all the work you do on this site.
  5. I note that several people, including this user, have won three star hotels in the Airport area after using two rebid zones. This user used Hollywood as his second rebid zone. Since the Airport North zone is the only zone without a star hotel, why isn't this the only rebid zone for bidding for a three star hotel in the Airport area? (Hollywood has a four star hotel, so how can this be a rebid zone?)
  6. I began with your PRICELINE link. Bid $45 for 4 star - rejected Added rebid zone and bid $47 - rejected Added rebid zone and bid $49 - rejected Added rebid zone and bid $51 - rejected Added rebid zones and bid in $1 increments until $55 - ACCEPTED I got this hotel back in April for $66. The rate on the Radisson website is $179 for Saturday night and $249 for Sunday night, so I am very pleased with this price. It is just a few blocks from the light rail system that goes to the airport and is convenient to many restaurants downtown.
  7. I need to correct my posting. I started out bidding on 3 1/2 star properties. There are no 4 star properties in the MCO zone.
  8. I began with your PRICELINE.com link. Bid $50 for 4 star - rejected Added rebid zone - bid 53 - rejected Added rebid zone - bid 56 - rejected Added 3 star zone Bid $40 - rejected Added rebid zone - bid $43 - rejected Added rebid zone - bid $46 - ACCEPTED The best rate on the hotel website for this night is $96. This is a much better deal than the Marriott Orlando Airport that I recently won. This hotel has free parking and a complimentary breakfast. (Parking at the Marriott is $12.) With a deal like this, I will have no qualms choosing a 3 star over a 3 1/2 star hotel for my next visit.
  9. I posted the incorrect dates for this stay. (I confused this with my trip to San Diego.) The dates for Minneapolis are April 27-30. Sorry for this error.
  10. I started each session by using your PRICELINE link. I first started trying to get a room for these days about a month ago. I had seen where people had gotten the 3 star Element for $58-60, so that was my goal. However, since there is only one rebid zone for 3 star hotels in Miami, I could do only two bids a day. I went as high as $65 (yesterday), but the bids were rejected. I had noticed about a week ago that Priceline said that the median price for a 3 star was $139, a 3.5 star was $119, and a 4 star was $129. Because of this anomaly, I started bidding on 3.5 and 4 star hotels in the $65-70 range. I bid as high as $75 on a 4 star, $70 on a 3.5 star, and $65 on a 3 star over several days. Today, I again bid up to $75 for a 4 star and was rejected. I then bid $70 on a 3.5 star and was rejected. I increased my bid to $75 and was accepted. I would have liked to have gotten the Element for $65, but I am quite happy with the Crowne Plaza at $75. The best rate posted on the hotel's website (for a non-refundable reservation) is $109 for the nights I will be there. Thanks again for providing such a great service.
  11. Naturally, I started each session by using your PRICELINE link. For several weeks I have been bidding on a 4 star hotel in Downtown Minneapolis. Since I had seen some wins as low as $50 (and as high as $63), I started my bidding at $48 and using the many re-bid zones would bid up to $60. I was always rejected. Today I checked the room rates for the dates of my stay at the Hilton ($199/night), the Westin ($153/night, and the Radisson Plaza ($127/night) [4 star hotels that had been won in the past] and concluded that I probably needed to increase my bids. As before, I started at $48 and bid in increments until my bid of $66/night at the Radisson Plaza was accepted. Naturally, I am VERY pleased with result. (The $127/night rate I showed above was a special internet deal that had to be prepaid; otherwise the rate was $182/night.) I am still smiling at this great deal. This is my third win in two days, and your board has been of immense help to me. Thanks. Thanks. Thanks.
  12. I started with your PRICELINE link. I bid $47 for Baltimore-Washington Airport - Rejected I increased my bid by $2 using the various re-bid zones until my bid of $59 was accepted. The posted rate for a room on this night is $109. Again, thanks for the great job you are doing on this board.
  13. I started with your PRICELINE link. On March 27, I began with a bid of $48 and, using rebid zones, bid up to $58 - Not accepted After 24 hours, I began with a bid of $48 and, using rebid zones, bid up to $60 - Accepted I may have overbid on this property, since I have seen it going for $50 to several people. Since my trip is still about a month away, patience may have allowed to get a lower price. (Of course, I also saw where one person had to bid $70 to get this property.) But I had been bidding on hotels in two other cities over a 3 week period and had been unsuccessful. Frustration with not having a winning bid in those attempts probably caused me to keep bidding here. The regular rate for this hotel for this night is $119, so I am still quite pleased with my purchase. As always, thanks for running this board and helping us save money.
  14. I started with the PRICELINE link. Yesterday I bid $40 for 3 star - rejected Added rebid zone - raised bid to $45 - rejected Added rebid zone - raised bid to $47 - rejected Added rebid zone - raised bid to $50 - rejected No more rebid zones Today I bid $45 for a 3 star - rejected Added rebid zone - raised bid to $47 - rejected Added rebid zone - raised bid to $50 - rejected Added rebid zone - raised bid to $52 - ACCEPTED Lowest prepaid rate on the hotel's website is $146 (which includes tax and charges) Thanks again for your website.
  15. Yesterday, I bid $100 for a four star and was rejected. Since there are no rebid zones, I waited until today and bid again. Today, I had $10 in Priceline cash, so I bid $100 (for a total of $110) for a 4 star room. I was rejected. I then lowered my room to 3 star and lowered my bid to $90 ($100 with Priceline cash). This bid was accepted. The lowest rate on the hotel's website is $140, with a 30 day non-refundable advance purchase, which includes breakfast. I am not sure if the Priceline deal includes breakfast, but even if it does not, I am still very pleased with this deal. Thanks again for running such a great service. Naturally, I started my bidding after using the PRICELINE link you provide.
  16. I had been bidding on the two ORD zones over the past several days, starting at $35 and increasing my bids in increments to $50, but none of my bids had been accepted. After looking at the recent wins for the ORD zones, I bid as follows today: Used your PRICELINE link: ORD (North and South) - $40 - rejected Added rebid zone - $45 - rejected Added rebid zone - $50 - rejected Added rebid zone - $52 - rejected Added rebid zone - $55 - Accepted The best rate I could find for this property on these dates was $84 (senior), so I am quite pleased. Thanks again for doing such a wonderful job on this board. You have saved me substantial money over the years.
  17. I started with your PRICELINE link. For the past 6 weeks I have been bidding for Convention Center, Dupont Circle, Georgetown-Foggy Bottom, and White House for these dates. I was using $6 in Priceline Reward money. Using re-bid zones I originally started at 85 for 4 stars and got to $125 but was not accepted. I tried 3.5 stars up to $120 and was also rejected. Tried 3 stars up to $115 and was also rejected. This happened on numerous occasions, including yesterday (except I did not bid on 3 stars). Today I started with 4 stars and bid up to $125 with no luck. Since I had bid up to $120 on 3.5 stars in the past with no luck, I started at $100 and was immediately accepted by the Marriott Wardman Park. When I started to post this information, I saw that someone had gotten the same hotel for the weekend prior to my stay for $75. For some reason, the weekday rates for my stay seem to have been quite a bit higher, so I am not terribly disappointed with my success. I might have gotten the room for a few dollars less, but since my bids up to $120 for a 3.5 star hotel for my dates had been rejected in the past, I felt like I needed to start a little higher. If I had read the earlier post before bidding today, I would probably have started at $85 and re-bid in $10 increments. Still the published rate for my days is $299/night, so I feel pretty good. Note: All the amounts listed above were before the $6/night Priceline reward addition.
  18. I forgot to mention that I did, in fact, use your PRICELINE link.
  19. Bid $35 on Macon (North) - Rejected Added Macon, bid $38 - Accepted
  20. Started with your PRICELINE link. Bid $45 for 3* - Rejected (was told that average price for 3* was $123) Bid $35 for 2.5* - Rejected Bid $25 for 2* - Rejected Waited 24 hours Bid $50 for 3* - Rejected (but was offered free rebid if I raised bid to $65) Bid $40 for 2.5* - Rejected Bid $30 for 2* - Rejected Waited 24 hours Repeated the 50/40/30 sequence, but each bid was rejected Waited 24 hours (was told that average price for 3* was $97--which was a change from previous days-- so I lowered by initial bid) Bid $45 for 3* - Rejected Bid $42 for 2.5* - Rejected Bid $33 for 2* - Rejected Waited 24 hours (was told that average price for 3* was $123) Bid $52 for 3* - Accepted by Hotel Indigo Based on previously accepted bids, I figured that I could get the Hotel Indigo for something in this price range. I stayed at Microtel Inn last year at this time (with a winning bid of $30), and I would have been pleased to pay that amount again. However, I also decided that I would "splurge" and pay the additional money this time if my bid for a 3* was accepted. Although I enjoy the gambling/bidding aspect of Priceline, I was also getting tired of trying to save $2-$3, and that is why I increased my initial bid today.
  21. What rate did you pay? It seems that the $110 listed in the reference line is incorrect.
  22. Used your PRICELINE link and bid $25; bid was rejected but I received a counteroffer of $31, which I did not accept. Waited 24 hours and bid $27, figuring that this would be accepted based on the previous counteroffer; however, I was shocked when this bid was rejected and I received a counteroffer of $34! Waited 24 hours; since this was the day before I traveled and I could no longer "negotiate," I bid $30. Accepted by Microtel Inn
  23. Bid $30 - Rejected Added Stockbridge - Bid $33 - Rejected Added Union City - Bid $35 - Accepted I had noticed that several people had gotten this property for $34-35, so I thought I would try to low ball at $30 and $33. I did not try for $34, so I might have gotten it for that price.
  24. Accessed PRICELINE via BetterBidding's link Bid $40 2.5* - Rejected Bid $30 2* - Rejected Waited 24 hours Bid $43 2.5* - Rejected Bid $35 2* - ACCEPTED The motel's website shows an advance purchase rate of $90.95 and a government rate of $83.95 for this night, so I am pleased with the results. This is actually a Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites
