  1. I began with your PRICELINE link. I had bid up to $52 for a 3-star hotel without success. I then lowered my star rating and bid $40 for a 2.5-star hotel. The bid was rejected but I was given the opportunity to bid again if I raised my bid by $9 to $49. I declined. I then bid $45 and the bid was ACCEPTED. The website rate for this date is $92.
  2. I started with your PRICELINE link. I was bidding for a 3 star hotel in the Central zone of Columbia. I started at $40 and bid in increments up to $55. All my bids were rejected. I then lowered my star rating to 2.5 and my first bid of $50 was accepted. (There are no rebid zones for 2.5 stars, so I did not want to start much lower.
  3. Started with your PRICELINE link. I bid $40 for 3.5 star hotel in downtown zone. My bid was rejected but I was offered the opportunity to bid again immediately if I increased by bid to $52; I declined. Added rebid zone and bid $42 - Rejected Added rebid zone and bid $44 - Rejected Added rebid zone and bid $46 - ACCEPTED Best website rate for these dates is $102/night Thanks, again, for the great service this board provides.
  4. Yes, I am using Los Cabos, Mexico. This is very interesting. I just redid the search and came up the same hotels as I did before, including the resort for $86. I do not see a $173/nite in MY listing. When I try to cut and paste the link, the link defaults to the home Priceline page. Is there another email address I can use to send you the link?
  5. This is on the PRICELINE EXPRESS Deals page. And I mistyped. The price is $86, not $89. And I always start with your link.
  6. This is on the Express Deals page. And I mistyped. The price is $86, not $89.
  7. I am looking at El Corridor (in the Los Cabos area of Mexico). Priceline has a super saving resort for $89. The only amenities listed are Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, and Fitness Center. Thanks for your help. I am looking at Feb. 23-27
  8. I started with your PRICELINE.com link. I initially bid $45 and then $50 for a 3.5 star hotel in Central Birmingham and was rejected. (I was not expecting to stay in the central area but thought I would gamble on getting a great deal.) Because of the success people had had in the Hoover zone, I lowered my star rating to 3 and bid $40 on the Central and Hoover zones. My bid was rejected, but I was told that I could rebid immediately if I raised my bid by $8. I declined. I then raised by bid to $43 and was ACCEPTED. The website rate for this night is $107. As always, thanks for the great service this board provides.
  9. I began with your PRICELINE.com link. I had been bidding for this date for about two weeks, going up to $60 for a 3.5 star and 3 star hotels (and going up to $55 for a 2.5 star). Tonight I again bid up to $60 for 3.5 and 3 star hotels, and my bids were rejected. I then bid $50 for a 2.5 star; my bid was rejected, but Priceline told me that I could rebid immediately if I raised my bid by $14, to $64. I declined. I then raised my bid to $53 (rejected) and then raised my bid to $56 (ACCEPTED). The website rate for this date is $85. Although I have gotten better deals for Baltimore airport hotels in the past, I am not displeased with this deal. I do note that this hotel has not been reported before. Thanks for all the work you do on this site.
  10. I started with your PRICELINE.com link. I again, unwittingly, bought a cheap air fare ticket for a weekend when the Vikings were playing. (See my earlier posts about Nov. 10-12.) After my bids for a 4-star downtown hotel up to $75 were rejected, I split my bids. I again got a priceline winning bid at the Crowne Plaza for the Saturday night and, again, won the Hotel Minneapolis, Autograph Collection for my non-Saturday stay; my November stay was Sat.-Mon., and my December stay is Fri.-Sun.) After my bids for a 3.5 star hotel (in the downtown area and, then, in the Airport - Mall of America area) up to $65 were rejected, I then lowered my star level to 3. I bid $45 (rejected); increased to $50 (rejected); and then increased to $55 (ACCEPTED). Hotel website price for this hotel is $80.99. BTW, this hotel is directly across the street from a light rail stop and is very convenient.
  11. I began with your PRICELINE.com link. I again, unwittingly, bought a cheap air fare ticket for a weekend when the Vikings were playing. (See my earlier priceline posts about Nov. 10-12.) After my bids for a 4-star downtown hotel up to $75 were rejected, I split my bids. I again won on Priceline the Crowne Plaza for the Saturday night and, again, won the Hotel Minneapolis, Autograph Collection for my non-Saturday stay; my November stay was Sat.-Mon., and my December stay is Fri.-Sun.) After my bid for a two-day stay was rejected, I bid for Friday night, starting at $55 (rejected); I increased my bid to $60 (rejected); I then increased to $62 (ACCEPTED).
  12. I began with your PRICELINE.com link. I had been trying to get a downtown hotel for this night, but something must be going on, since I was unsuccessful. (I will be in Minneapolis Nov. 10-12. After failing to win a downtown hotel for these two nights, I split my bid and won the Hotel Minneapolis, Autograph Collection for Nov. 11. See my earlier post.) Today I bid up to $100 for a 4 star downtown hotel and was unsuccessful. I then started bidding on the Airport area. My bids up to $80 for a 3.5 star were rejected. I then downgraded to 3 star and started bidding at $55. I used the four rebid zones, and on my final rebid, my offer of $70 was accepted.
  13. I appreciate your suggestion, and that is what I plan to do. My major concern with the airport is, as you noted, that one hotel doesn't have a shuttle. With the way my luck is going for this trip, I would probably get the Sheraton!
  14. Naturally, I started with your PRICELINE.com link. I am posting this under two dates to show both a win and a failed bidding process. I have been bidding for a 4 start downtown Minneapolis hotel for about two weeks for November 10-12. I have won hotels in the $50-55 range but on one occasion had to split my bid and ended up paying $80, so I was familiar with the winning price range (and, of course, I had this board to guide me). After bidding up to $80 the past several days and having my bids rejected, I decided to split my bids. Yesterday,I bid up to $80 and was rejected. I knew that the more expensive night was Saturday night, so I split my bid and bid on Sunday night. My first priceline bid, of $55, was accepted by The Hotel Minneapolis Autograph Collection. (The website rate is $159.) I then started bidding for the night of November 10. Yesterday and today I bid up to $90 and was rejected. I don't know what is going on that Saturday night, but it is difficult to get downtown room for a reasonable price. (Yesterday, I noticed that someone had bid on a 2 star hotel and was pleased with the hotel. My two bids of $40 and $45 for a two-star hotel were rejected. I checked that hotel's website and discovered that it had no rooms available for November 10.)

  16. I started with your PRICELINE.com link. Over the past several days I had bid up to $90 for a four-star hotel in the downtown zone without success. (Vancouver-Downtown recently added the option to bid for a five-star hotel. I figured--correctly--that my chances of getting a five-star were minimal; nevertheless, I bid up to $95 for that star rating.) Today, I started out at $60 and increased my bid by $5 for each rebid zone. My last rebid, $90, was accepted. The hotel's website nonrefundable rate for these days is $178. Again, thanks for all the work you do.
  17. I began with your PRICELINE.com link. I thought I was bidding low for a 3 star hotel in this zone, but my first bid of $42 was accepted. I do note that this hotel has previously been reported as a 2.5 star win. The hotel website says that the property was recently renovated, in 2011, so this may account for the current star rating.
  18. Started with your PRICELINE.com link. Since there are no rebid zones for Anderson, and since I needed a room tomorrow, my bidding options were minimal. Bid $40 for 2.5 star hotel - rejected Bid $40 for 2 star hotel - ACCEPTED
  19. I started with your PRICELINE.com link. Over the past several days, I had bid up to $75 for a 4 star hotel without success and had also bid up to $65 for 3.5 star hotel (since several people had gotten a hotel for that price). Today, I again bid up to $75 for a 4 star hotel but was rejected. I then bid $55 for a 3.5 star and was rejected. I increased my bid to $60 and then increased my bid in $2 increments until my bid of $68 was accepted. The website rate for my stay is $159/night. As always, thank you for the great job you do in running this board.
  20. For clarification, I think this heading should be corrected to show that the win was in the Downtown zone, not the City Hall-Downtown South zone.
  21. Naturally, I started with your PRICELINE.com link. For the past three weeks I had been bidding for a 4 star hotel in the Millenium Park, Loop area up to $80. When my bids had not been accepted, I started bidding on 3.5 star hotels up to $80, again without success. About a week ago, I added Greater Chicago to my Millenium Park, Loop request and again bid up to $80 for a 3.5 star hotel in these areas, without success. Today, I started with these two areas and bid $60; my bid was rejected. I added a rebid zone and increased my bid to $65. My bid which was accepted, and I was upgraded to a 4 star hotel! Since the website rate for this hotel for these days is $299/night, I am very, very pleased. Thanks again for running this excellent board.
  22. I started with your PRICELINE.com link. About two weeks ago I started bidding, intermittently, for a 4 star hotel in Downtown Minneapolis. I would start at $45, increase to $48, then increase by $2 increments. I would stop at $60. Two days ado I used the same strategy and got the Hotel Minneapolis Autograph Collection for $60. The rate for these nights on the hotel's website is $119.
  23. Because I had to split my bids, I am posting this same post under both days (there is the other priceline win). I have been bidding on a two-night stay in a 4 star downtown Minneapolis hotel for about 4 weeks. I started with your PRICELINE link. Up until about 10 days ago, I would start at $45 and bid in increments to $60. My bids were never accepted. About 5 days ago I increased my bids to $70, but they were still not accepted. I bid up to $75 yesterday, and my bids were not accepted. Several weeks ago, I had been told by someone who works in a Minneapolis hotel that something must be happening on Thursday, Sept. 13, since the prices for rooms that night spiked from the normal rates. Sure enough, when I checked Priceline earlier today, I was told that the median price for a 4 star downtown hotel on Sept. 13 was $289, whereas the median price for a 4 star downtown hotel on Sept. 14 was $123. (I realize that these may not be accurate figures, but it gave me some idea about the difference in room rates for those two nights.) I then bid for a 4 star downtown hotel on Sept. 14. I stated at $45 and using rebid zones, I bid up to $52, which was accepted by the Radisson Plaza. I then bid for a 4 star downtown hotel on Sept. 13, starting at $50. After using rebid zones, my bid of $80 was accepted by the Westin. As a matter of information, the Radisson Plaza has a posted rate of $115 for that Friday night; the Westin’s posted, non-refundable rate for the Thursday night is $299!
  24. Because I had to split my bids, I am posting this same post under both days (here is a link to the other Priceline hotel). 25. I started with your PRICELINE link. I began bidding for a 4 star downtown hotel about 5-6 weeks ago and would bid every 3-4 days until a week ago when I started bidding daily. I would start at $45 and, using rebid zones, bid up to $60. All my bids were rejected. I noticed that most of the winning bids that were in the low to mid $50's were bids that were made within a week of the dates requested, so I was not very concerned that my bids were being rejected. On August 12 I bid up to $60, and my bids were rejected. On August 13, I started at $50 and, using rebid zones and upping my bid in $2 increments, I bid up to $58; all bids were rejected. I then increased my bid by $1, and my bid of $59 was ACCEPTED. I may have been able to save a little more money if I had waited a few more days, but I am happy with my success. I had hoped for the Radisson Plaza, since I had gotten that hotel on my two previous trips to Minneapolis (and was very pleased with it), but that hotel has not shown up as accepting a winning bid since my last visit.
