  1. Tried first Downtown only at $40, declined. Said if I added $12 to my bid I could try again, but I did not go that route. Added Brooks-Sheperdsville at $45, declined. Added Louisville Southwest at $48, and finally "won" the Galt House. We've stayed at this several times before via Priceline and the rooms are always great. Need to note that I initially only bid on Saturday 9/26, however they offered me the opportunity to add another night after my bid for Saturday night was accepted. I then added Friday the 25th, too.
  2. Ok. When we checked in, the front desk clerk said there was a $13 a day resort fee that included whatever, but mentioned it also included the shuttle to Shelter Cove. BUT...upon checkout, they indicated there was nothing on the bill. The room was good. View was awful (blocked by that Parrots Grill building), but overall it was an excellent stay.
  3. I've been looking in the same area, Priceline/Hotwire and just standard lookups, for Thursday June 7th. A 2.5* came up for the historic district for $78 a night. Amenities listed are: Complimentary Breakfast, and High Speed Internet access. I know there is a Hampton Inn down there. Best Western also has a free breakfast.
  4. 3* Nashville (Opryland) - Radisson Hotel at Opryland This is right across the street from Opryland 1 room - $53/night x 2 nights $106, plus $19.60 Taxes & fees = $125.60 total Cheapest rate was $109. Amenities: Airport Shuttle Pool(s) Fitness Center Restaurant(s)
  5. I just wanted to add a note to this as I live in Louisville, and my husband and I got a room there via Priceline back in September for our anniversary (I think our winning bid was $45 or $47...can't recall). The entire hotel went through a massive rennovation the last few years. Our room was great. HUGE king kind-of on the corner room, facing the west and ovelooking the Belvedere and we had a decent view of the river. Not too too far from the elevator.
  6. We have had no problems with any of the hotels that we acquired via Priceline or HOTWIRE. So many of the other hotels we get are the higher star/resort level hotels though. I take whatever I would be willing to spend for something...we can get the govt rate...and see what we can win for a bid of that same amount
  7. I was going to mention something about this...had no idea there was a thread this VAST over here. I posted my recent Hotwire purchase "over there", too, as I really care about people getting the most for their money (I'm a cheapo, so I know others are, too). I guess they didn't like it that a Hotwire bid beat a Priceline one...so they deleted the post.
  8. Just to let you know...I called them so check if that did include the resort fee, etc. It does NOT. It includes whatever taxes are mandatory (maybe that beach tax is included).
  9. I have probably done 20+ hotel stays (mostly just a night or two) between Priceline and Hotwire....and I've never done anything that I wasn't willing to eat it if something came up. If it was something that important, I wouldn't allow someone else to decide where I'm staying. Not to be insensitive, but couldn't they have left the dog in the kennel at the vets while they went?
  10. It did say "Customer Favorite" According to Westin's website...if you click on "Mandatory Fees", there is a $12 per night resort fee. I don't know if that is included or not. The Mandatory taxes are 10%. I'm ignorant as to what Hotwire's take/fees is. But this is the breakdown per my email receipt: Hotel 1 room(s) @ $64.00 per night x 4 night(s) $256.00 Taxes, recovery charges, and fees $118.03 Hotel subtotal $374.03 Total $374.03 Some hotels may apply additional charges for incidental fees such as parking. Prices are in $USD.
  11. Hotel: The Westin Resort Hilton Head Island 4* Zone: Hilton Head Island Sub Zone: Hilton Head Island Price: $64/night Date: Sun 6/3 - Thur 6/7 Amenities: Resort, Beachfront, Oceanfront, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-speed Internet Access, Golf Nearby, Tennis Nearby, Spa Services, Children's Activity Program Westin's website was $249/night. Travelocity was $249. Expedia $459 (not kidding) Bidding Strategy: I had been looking at recent winning bids and ones from the same time frame last year. A few minutes before buying this hotel, I bid $60/night on Priceline for the Resort category, which was turned down. Then I tried Hotwire, and it showed the $64/night.
  12. I am giddy :) to find this kind of price for that time of the year. I had been looking at past wins on this and another "site" for a bit to see what we might be getting into dollar wise. Previous wins were about twice our win amount...and much more. I had checked a week or two ago and the Hotwire rate was $100 higher. The cheapest price on Westin's website was $249/night.
