  1. Thanks. I ended up going a different route entirely, and it'll probably work better for me. Strangely enough, the Days Inn was listed as 1* in some places, including on TripAdvisor who, of course, is the same company as Hotwire. However, on Expedia, who is also the same company, the Days Inn was listed as 2*. Either way, I'm pretty sure it was the Travelodge and I would have been very unhappy with it. But I do like your suggestion of just booking one day and then going back. I'll try that in the future.
  2. 2* Amenities: Breakfast Area: Cleveland - Lakewood Running $34 - $38 for my timeframe (5-24 to 5-30), lower for the more days that are requested. There are only two hotels in Lakewood, a Travelodge and a Days Inn, both of which are 2* and both of which have a free breakfast. I'll take it if it's the Days Inn, but not if it's the Travelodge. Any ideas? Expedia and Hotels.com are running the Days Inn at about $44/night for that timeframe, but also $38/night for the Travelodge. Thanks!
  3. The hotel turned out to be pretty good. Reception was overly nice. I was given my choice of floors. The manager even called me after I checked in to make sure that everything was okay. In-room coffee, microwave and mini-fridge. Very clean, comfortable bed, the pool/hot tub looked nice, location was good, good room size, furnishings were in good condition. Lots of restaurants within walking distance, as is Great America. The light rail is a long walk/short drive and there are several buses that you can walk to catch, including a PRICELINE EXPRESS that runs on the weekdays. The property is very large (four stories), with all exterior corridors. There seemed to be few people in the hotel while I was there, with only one person on my floor (4th) a couple of doors down the first night. The down sides: - Bathroom was dated, and the tub had definitely seen better days. You had to actually turn the faucet clockwise and push in to get the water to turn off, which I thought was kind of funny. - Very limited cable TV. - Hard to get into the parking lot. There's no access from GA Parkway, so getting in involves going through at least one traffic light's left-turn signal, unless you're coming south already. - An office area, so traffic gets bad at rush hour. - Adjacent to a catholic church. This was Easter weekend, so that presented a problem with parking and traffic. - An IHOP is on the property. This caused issues with parking, traffic, and noise at night when the little teenagers with nothing better to do hung out outside until about 1am. (Seriously though, is IHOP really worth an hour wait?) All in all though, this worked out well and was a good value. Not worth the rack rate, IMHO, as there are better properties in the area that run about that much, but I would take it again for the price that I got it for.
  4. Not entirely happy. It's got renos going on, a few bad reviews and retails for $75. I've gotten Holiday Inns for cheaper. Based on the list, I figured it to be the Hawthorn. Those are always nicer, but this is, at the least, in a better neighborhood. I just needed a place to sleep.
  5. $39/night for two nights (4/10 to 4/12) in San Jose/Santa Clara. 3*, "Lowest Price Guaranteed" checked. Fitness, pool and restaurant listed. Used the HOTWIRE link on this site to book.
  6. Hotwire win: Hotel: Courtyard by Marriott Sea-Tac Area (West Valley Highway location) Dates: 7-24 to 7-28 (4 nights) Price per night: $53 Hotwire Details: 3* in Renton area Non-Smoking, Shuttle, Restaurant, Fitness Center, Hi-Speed Internet, Pool, Business Center, Laundry Facilities I had anticipated the Holiday Inn, per the list, but I think that this is quite a bit better and was definitely happy to get it. I looked online and they also apparently have an area shuttle as well as an airport shuttle, which will help me immensely because I have to rely on the buses while there to get to the city. I checked it again right after I bought it and it was already up to $56. I'll post a review when I get back. Hope that helps.
  7. Studio Plus on Sunland Park Drive. 2* in El Paso West. $44 staying on 2-24, won on 2-24. Amenities: pool, fitness center, laundry
  8. Won on 2006-2-18: Amerisuites 2.5* in Dallas Park Central Suite, Breakfast, Fitness, Pool, Laundry, Hi-Speed Internet, Kitchenette $36
  9. Probably Extended Stay Deluxe on Osborne Road. Very nice place. Just off Central with a long walk to the Heard Museum.
  10. Hey, I just wanted to point out that my first post was a completely different hotel from the one I got which is why I posted again. The former was for $49/night and was in the "SeaWorld" area whereas the Holiday Inn that I got is in the "Downtown - Harbor Island" area and is 2.5 versus 2 stars (i.e. - the info in the first post <> the Holiday Inn Downtown).
  11. 2.5* San Diego (Downtown-Harbor Islands) Holiday Inn Downtown Got it for $59. Purchased on 1-10-07 for 1-13 to 1-15. Amenities listed: Restaurant, Fitness Center, Pool, Laundry Facilities Customer Favorite For some reason, I wasn't getting good results by putting in 2 adults, so I put 4 and this one came up. Maybe a good tip to add.
  12. This was formerly known as the Pueblo Inn. The old Downtown Radisson is now known as the Hotel Arizona. The hotel is located on the I-10 frontage road south of Congress Street (at the Granada underpass) directly across from the Tucson Convention Center. There's a Bennigan's adjacent (the only one in the state) and an outdoor pool and patio. It has seen better days though.
  13. 2-star hotel in SeaWorld - Mission Bay - Shelter Island for $49 (1/13-1/15). Amenities: Complimentary Breakfast, Pool, Laundry, Internet Access Maybe Days Inn but not totally sure as the Days Inn site does not list internet access. Any ideas? tia, colin
  14. This is the Extended Stay America on Murphy Canyon Road. They also have free wireless internet access (not in ammenities list) and a full kitchen. I've stayed here twice, both times got it on Hotwire for under $30.
  15. Probably too late, but this is the Candlewood Suites on Baseline Road. Nice place, includes wired internet access (not on the Hotwire ammenities list), full kitchen, and an honor system store for snacks and drinks (one free can of soda). Again, amenities listed: pool, laundry, fitness center. hth
