  1. Had hoped for the Holiday Inn Express, this showed up. For 38 bucks, I am not going to complain, even though this is a new listing. :) Amenities Airport Shuttle Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Hotwire hot Rate: $38.00 Tax recovery charges and fees:$11.54 Total price:$49.54
  2. Was bidding for a 4* hotel in Waikiki but got upgraded to a resort. Received the Outrigger Waikiki at $121 plus taxes and fees. Was apprehensive about the property until we arrived. Fantastic location smack in the middle of Waikiki beach, adjoining the Westin Moana Surfrider and Royal Hawaiian (SPG Luxury Collection). Upgraded to a partial ocean view room (city view was sold out). Huge room, no mention of PL, pleasant staff. Highly recommended property. (Free internet, long distance calls, in the heart of the action.) One bit of insight - all the Waikiki properties hug each other, properties are no more than 10 metres away from each other. You can't go wrong, which ever property you land up with!
  3. I'm a first time visitor to Honolulu and looking for advice re: where to stay. Waikiki seems to be everyone's favorite, but it seems difficult to get advice and expert opinions of neighboring Waikiki North and Waikiki South. Have you stayed there recently? Do you have experiences to share that would benefit people like me, first timers? I'm confused - while Hotwire prices are 10-20 dollars less for similar star hotels in W North and W South, do they offer the same proximity to restaurants, activities? Cheers!
  4. It will be more expensive to stay in Heathrow than you think. Cost of shuttle to the airport twice a day (about

  6. Not the best of deals at $140, but its reasonably last minute and still a 40% saving from the published rate on the hotel website. Won the first bid at $140 after trying for days and days at various bids between $95 and $130. 8. Its a good hotel, I've stayed there in the past, courtesy PRICELINE. I asked for a room on a high floor, with a view, and they gave it without a problem. It was a recently refurbished one. Not too convenient for the tube, but with bus stops, a 7-11, and Starbucks right there, no complaints! :)
  9. Its a great location, mind you, very convenient to all sorts of public transport and restaurants. Try calling ahead, the morning of the check in and request a room with a park view. Never hurts to ask, and that's the time they can block aside the room for you as well, based on availability! Cheers.
  10. Its an absolutely fantastic hotel, I stayed there just over a year ago, at a similar rate. Have a great stay!
  11. Started bidding at $45, rejected, used one rebid to win at $50 for a one night stay. $50 plus taxes and fees.
  12. Started at $55. Immediately received counteroffer and rebid of $70. Declined, kept adding zones/free rebids till I won the one night stay. Details: Subtotal: $65.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $15.98 Total Charges: $80.98 Used the PRICELINE link at SavingsBarn to support betterbidding!
  13. Started bid at $55, immediately got an offer to raise the bid by $15 without adding new areas. Declined, used rebid strategy to add more areas. $60 declined $62 declined $64 accepted Dec 16-18 2007 $162.90 including tax and travel insurance for two nights Priceline snuck in automatic travel insurance in my rebids even though I had specifically declined it the first time. In a rush with my rebids, I did not notice that they had checked this box again. Just FYI...
  14. Powai is way out in the middle of nowhere but thats where a lot of the industry is coming up. I'd avoid staying there for sure as a tourist. Juhu is more central but still what one called the outskirts of bombay even 10 years ago. I'd try and wait till the Colaba area comes up (it says Coming Soon). Best hotels to stay there are The Oberoi, Taj, Hilton, and Intercontinental. Budget hotels are of dubious quality at best. Your best bets are to find a local travel agent to help sort you through the options...
  15. I'd be thrilled... even the condos, apartments, and more are nothing less than 150/night for that season!
  16. I'm targeting for the Westin, I'm ready to bid now, looking to pay about 175/night. But wondering if its too eatly to bid or not? Would Westin have released inventory for peak nights, already?
  17. Thanks... looking for a stay from Jan 1 to Jan 8 2008.
  18. I wonder if anyone has experience with bidding for Maui resorts in peak season. I am look forward to a stay at the Westin resort for several nights beginning January 1 2008 and wonder what kind of bids I should consider. While September / October bids of $125 or thereabouts have resulted in wins, what would be expected in December/January? The Westin direct rates begin at almost $600/night.
  19. The hotel was just superb. Akin to the chic style of the W Hotels in the US but with all the grace and charm of European style. A first stay at a Sofitel hotel and I can assure you it was not the last. Happy bidding to all!
  20. 4899 is a chainwide discount code for Starwood. :)
  21. 24 hour notice booking 5* Mayfair Offered $120, counter offer $179. Increased in $10, later $4 increments and added a zone each bid. Finally refused at $158, accepted at $162. $162+ landed up as a total cost of $199. Direct website rate was about $290 including VAT. :)
  22. The stay is for one night. Jan 27 2006. Sorry, I did not use the links. Just plain forgot.
  23. :) After trying several areas like Mayfair, City, Westminster at $65, I added Bloomsbury Marble Arch at $70 and got the bid accepted. Unsure what to expect as it will be a first stay at a Novotel. Final price including Priceline taxes was just under $90. About one half of what is available on Novotel's site directly. Thanks guys for all your tips... Cheers!
