  1. Used the PRICELINE link. Bid this for a family member. Started at $65 and received the JW Marriott on Canal with the first bid. Makes me wonder how low I truly could have gotten it for.
  2. Bid using the PRICELINE link to this site. Received this Holiday Inn on my second bid starting at $49. Happy with this post cruise hotel stay.
  3. Had bonus money that I have no idea how I obtained it. The bonus was for $20 with a minimum of a 2 day stay and was set to expire in a couple days. Started bidding 3 star Convention center at $55 and used New Orleans East and Garden District for free rebids. Hit at $63 with the bonus adding up to $6.67 per nite. The free breakfast, internet and happy hour make this hotel a bargain for me. I used the PRICELINE link on this site.
  4. Bid this for a friend who is going on the same cruise as I am. Downtown Miami was first choice with Coral Gables being next. Tried for the last 4 weeks to get a 3.5* in downtown hoping to strike the Marriott that I received for my October dates with no success up to $85. Changed to Coral Gables 4* starting at $60 and received the Westin Colonnade at $64. I used the PRICELINE link to start my bidding.
  5. I have done this before and have never had to change rooms. In one situation I hand to go to the front desk and check out and then check back in (Hyatt) and at another hotel they were able to link the reservations and I never had to check out until my departure date (Marriott).
  6. If I had waited a few months I may have saved a few dollars, but I have a tendency to do my bidding early once my plans are firm. I started at $85 and using free rebids hit at $97 with my limit being $100. Received the Eden Roc, hotel looks very nice on the website. Used the PRICELINE link to do all my bidding.
  7. Started bidding at $47 and after using 3 free rebids received this hotel. Happy with the hotel and the price. As always I used the PRICELINE link to start my bidding.
  8. Since there is only one free rebid and this is trip is not till October I bid this on and off a couple times a week always starting my bid at $50 and stopping at $53. Started bidding for the 1st night to see what the available hotel was and if it was acceptable use the add a nite feature. Received the Country Inn and Suite Cape Canaveral, with taxes it came to $66.66. Used the add a nite feature to get the second night at the same price. I used the PRICELINE link to start my bidding.
  9. Started bidding at $48 and immediately received a counteroffer to raise my bid by $14. Using free rebids at $2 increments I received the Marriott Orlando Airport Hotel. Total for 2 nights including tax $135.04. I used the PRICELINE link for my winning bid.
  10. Tampa Busch Gardens Hyatt Place is now 3 stars Hilton Garden Inn Tampa North is now 3 stars Courtyard by Marriott (Brandon) Tampa is also 3 stars
  11. I bid this for a friend whose preference is Hotwire and not Priceline. After successfully getting a hotel for him for a late flight into TPA he decided to spend the rest of his stay in the Busch Garden area. Hotwire had a 3* in this zone for $49. I asked if I could bid on Priceline for the next 2 days and after lots of begging on my part he reluctantly agreed. Since I knew he didn't like PL I started the bid extremely low at $35 then planned on going to Hotwire when it didn't get accepted. Instead of a immediate rejection I received the you will have a answer in 15 minutes. It took Priceline 30 minutes to email me with a acceptance for the Hyatt Place Busch Gardens.
  12. Did this for a friend who likes a little more control over his hotel choices that HOTWIRE has to offer with the showing of amenities instead of the excitement of PRICELINE. This is for a 1 night stay although that might get extended when he sees this hotel. Amenities are Shuttle, Complimentary Breakfast, Fitness Center, Pool, Business Center and High Speed Internet Access. Not a bad price for this hotel. I did use the HOTWIRE link to make this purchase.
  13. Bid this for a family member using the SavingsBarn.com link. Either Tampa airport or Downtown would be ok with them. Started bidding at $60 was declined added the downtown zone and increased bid to $67 which was the maximum they wanted to go and received the Residence Inn downtown. Going rates for these 2 days are $209 a night so they are pleased with this. :)
  14. Started bidding at $40 for one night 10/19/08 and was rejected, added downtown which is not a free rebid but the zone was just as acceptable and increased my bid to $43. Received the Courtyard by Marriott Brandon. Using the add a night feature for I attempted to get a 2nd night for $43, Priceline rejected this and came back with a offer of $67. opened another browser and rebid for the 2nd night increasing the bid to $60 and was declined. Went back and took the offer of $67. Used the SavingsBarn.com link to make my bid.
  15. Bid this very early due to having bonus money of $30 from my Priceline rewards with it expiring on 11/30/07, not sure how or why I received this but I won't complain. Started my bid at $35 and was declined, increase it to $40 and received the Hilton Garden Inn North. Used the SavingsBarn.com link. The bonus money was one time use only.
  16. Taking a quick trip to Las Vegas to celebrate a Birthday. Decided to stay off strip, but still wanted to be close to the action. A friend had stayed at The Orleans Hotel and Casino and said it was a decent hotel for the price so I booked a cancellable reservation with them and headed to Priceline. Had a $5 bonus coupon for attempting to accept a counteroffer for a flight that didn't happen due to "lack of availability." Lowest rate for 3 star hotel west of strip was at the Orleans for $35. Started bidding at $20 and used my 2 free rebids up to $25 and was accepted at the very hotel I had reservations at for $35/nite. With taxes and fees the total came to $90.22. Attempted to use Savingsbarn.com but not sure it took since I had to click on a link to use bonus money.
  17. I have been bidding on this for a couple of friends who is doing a 1 day stay postcruise in Los Angeles with us and while we are staying in downtown, they wanted to stay in Beverly Hills/West Hollywood. I wasn't having any success and wasn't in any rush since there was plenty of time. Noticed Hollywood was no longer a free rebid for 4* and asked if they were interested in staying in that area if the price was right. Given the ok to try it out. Checked the rates for Renaissance ($279) and Roosevelt ($249), I assumed either a new hotel was added or the Renaissance was given a new rating. Started bidding at $65 and hit at $68 for the Roosevelt. Total with taxes and service fees $85.39. I believe they are happy with this hotel and the location. Used the Savingsbarn link.
  18. Since I had 9 months until check in and Santa Monica usually has a higher Priceline rate, I have been lowball bidding this on and off for about a month, starting at $55 and only going as high as $65. Didn't plan to do any serious bidding on this until about August. Rates are Holiday Inn ($189), Marriott ($229), Doubletree ($229) and Sheraton ($269). Started bidding tonight at $55 and since there is no free rebids for 3* I added Beverly Hills and increased my bid to $60. Priceline came back with a acceptance at the Holiday Inn Santa Monica, which I wasn't expecting at all. The reviews on TripAdvisor seem fairly good and the hotel appears to be in a excellent location. Total price with taxes and service fees $145.54. :)

    FWA to LAX

I rarely use Priceline for airfare since the savings are minimal and never this far in advance. Was on Priceline bidding for a hotel without success and decided to check out prices for airfare. FWA is the nearest airport to me with IND next being 2.5 hours away. Rates found on Priceline, Expedia, Travelocity and airline websites $450+ (2 connections) and $545+ (1 connection). Hotwire had nothing for these city pairs available unless using alternate airports. Bid $160 and surprisingly enough I received a counteroffer of $269 including taxes and fees. Using rebids with nonjet and alternate airports I bid in $5 dollar increment with a set price limit of $200, I received a acceptance at $190. The flights are with United with a 6am departure from FWA and leaving at 9am from LAX. Layovers are 2 hours leaving and and 1 hour on the return with 1 connection both ways. My plans are firm but I did purchase insurance, not through Priceline, just in case of emergency. FWA is a small airport so low fare carriers are not a option and flights to California are never this reasonable. Airline Ticket Offer Price: $190.00 per ticket Airline Ticket Taxes & Fees: $27.05 per ticket Number of Tickets: 2 Airline Ticket Shipping & Handling: $0.00 (Electronic Ticket) Airfare Subtotal: $434.10 Total Trip Cost: $434.10
  20. Had planned on heading home after our stay at the Omni, but thought about a trip to Long Beach for the day. Looking on Hotwire I saw a 3.5 star for $76 and decided to give Priceline a try. Lowest rate I could find was for the Hilton Long Beach for $199. Using Savingsbarn.com I headed to Priceline and wanted 4* only and started bidding at $65 and using 2 free rebids going up in $1 dollar increments I received an acceptance at $67. With taxes and fees the total came to $84.24. I just may have to extend my stay with that price :)
  21. Started bidding this at $60 with $5 dollar increments and decided to go no higher with free rebids. When I reached $75 I almost called it quits, but I decided to use one of my last rebids and going up in a 1 dollar increment before going to bed as a last hoorah. Priceline came back with a acceptance at the Omni Los Angeles Hotel. I never did receive any counteroffers to any bids. With taxes and fees the total came to $94.47. I used the savingsbarn link to make my bid. :)
  22. I had such good luck with my precruise stay that I decided to try my luck with my postcruise stay. Checked the rates on Hilton.com and Hotwire and they were the same as the precruise rates, although Caribe Hilton is not available through Hotwire unless you go through the vacation package. Put in a bid of $65 for a 2 nite stay and success, received the Caribe Hilton. Did use the SavingsBarn link :)
  23. Just booked my November 2006 cruise leaving from San Juan. I was researching hotel rates, reviews and prior wins. Planned on bidding this during the summer since one of the things I discovered is that hotels don't release inventory until closer to check in. Went to Priceline and started checking out San Juan zones and star ratings just before calling it a night, since I was on the bidding screen just for kicks I put in a $65 test bid in for a one night precruise stay expecting a quick rejection. Within less than a minute Priceline gave me a congratulations screen. After scaring the dog with my yelling, I put in a request for another night with the add a nite feature and won the 2nd nite as well for the same amount. Taxes for each night was $15.93 :)
  24. Received a email from Priceline this evening informing me that due to hurricane Katrina my hotel the Omni Royal Crescent is unable to accomodate me due to damage and Priceline has refunded my money no questions asked and no encouragement on my part. So not everything is set in stone.
