  1. This hotel charges about $8 per day resort fee. After HOTWIRE fees, taxes, and the resort fee (which I pay AT the hotel), the total will be about $98 for 2 nights.

Hotwire says this hotel is recommended by 7 out of 10 guests, so that might also be a way to help identify this hotel.

Trip advisor gives it 3 out of 5.

    Amenities listed:

Free parking, Free breakfast, Free Internet, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Business center, Self-service laundry, Golf nearby

  2. And you are correct. Park Inn. With LOADS of horrible recent reviews on TripAdvisor. Wow. I guess I win?

I won this (if you could call it winning) using the BiddingHelper.com, which is an AWESOME tool.

The Park Inn has several recent really awful reviews on TripAdvisor. Can't wait to find out for myself if it is as nasty as some recent guests say it is. Yay for me! LOL.

Looks like the Park Inn has been upgraded to 3 stars, so an admin could update that information on the Hotwire list for Texas.

  3. This is the expanded list:

Free parking, Free Internet, Pet friendly, Airport shuttle, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Golf nearby, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower

You may be right. It's very close to being the same list. Maybe the wording of some of the amenities is different.

Can you move topic to the Texas Hotwire thread? As you can see, I misposted this on the Texas Priceline thread.

  4. Any thoughts on which property this could be? 3* property in the (Love Field DAL - Market Center) area availalbe 9/2 - 9/5  for $48/night. Hot.wire claims the hotel is normally $108 per night. The amenities listed are:

      Airport shuttle
      Business center
      Fitness center
      Free Internet
      Free parking
      Pet friendly
      Pool(s)
      Restaurant(s)
      Self-service laundry

  5. Read about the previous poster who had gotten Holiday Inn Opryland-Airport for $58. I'm making a last minute run to Nashville today. I know that prices vary with dates and availability. So I checked out all the free-rebid areas that don't have 3-star or better hotels, and started my bidding at $50. I thought I'd have to go up in $2 increments for a few bids. Nope.

    Got Hotel Preston right away.

Most tripadvisor reviews for this place in the last few weeks are less than stellar. Oh well. At least I didn't pay full price.

Could be Millennium Maxwell House, but I'm pretty sure they don't offer Free Internet. According to the hotel's website, they have high speed internet in all the rooms, but they don't say it's free. If I were offering a free service, I'd want to make sure my customers knew there was a free service.

Also, the Hotwire site implies their hotels are among the yellow dots on a map of downtown, but I know for a fact that this hotel is in the northeastern most corner of the "Downtown Metro Center" zone, far away from the yellow dots.

    What do you guys think?

Attending a Conference at the Omni in downtown Nashville (250 5th Ave S, Nashville, TN 37203) May 27-30 with a couple of colleagues. Either of these Express Deals would be acceptable in terms of star level and price. FREE Parking at the 3-star hotel is a big deal, but only if we're within a few blocks of the Omni.

Both cost less than the $150 per night for the Conference rate at the Omni.

Can you help me identify either of these properties?

  8. I've been trying for several days to get a hotel not far from the Newark airport.

Today, I got an email from Priceline asking me to try again, and I clicked on the link in my email without thinking and began bidding. Only after I won did I realize that I should have logged in here first and clicked on the PRICELINE link in the forum. Oops. Sorry, friends. I really blew it. I'll do better next time.

This morning I started at 2.5* in Newark Airport EWR at $67. No win. Added West Jersey City and increased to $72. No win. Added Newark and increased to $77. Win.

Downtown Newark was acceptable to me, but I wonder: if I had been bidding ONLY in that area, could I have gotten the room for less? We'll never know.

Free internet, Free parking, and Free breakfast make this a pretty good deal. Also, a fridge in every room.

Tripadvisor gives this a 73% satisfaction rate and lists this hotel as #7 out of 21 hotels in Newark.

  9. I started bidding a couple of days ago. I have to go to a wedding in the area that weekend, so I scheduled a meeting with some Customs / Border Patrol / Homeland Security people to get a Global Entry pass. You can only get those in certain places, and the Newark Airport is one of them.

I have a meeting in the morning on 10/11 at the airport, and I don't want to stay very far away from there.

I started at 3* at EWR for $52. Added West Jersey. Added Newark (downtown). Added 2.5*. I've bid all the way up to $72.

I can get the Country Inn and Suites for $89 (plus tax, total of $114) through the Express Deal section.

Should I just cut my losses and book the Express Deal? Or should I wait a few days and see if the price goes down?

  10. Trying stay near Santa Monica for 2 nights. I placed bids in Culver City, Brentwood, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Inglewood, Hermosa Beach, El Segundo. Many of these places were not near where I wanted to be, but I was pretty sure the places that were further away also would be to pricey to accept my low bids, increasing the odds I'd eventually get the neighborhood I wanted. Started at 3*. Bid down to 2.5*. Started bidding at $65 and gave up at $100.

Changed strategies. Chose Van Nuys neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley, about 25 minutes drive from Santa Monica if the traffic is not awful.

Started bidding for a 3* at $75. They asked me to increase my bid to $97 and they'd accept, so I knew I was in the right ball park.

Changed bid to 2.5* at $85. WIN. Two nights, with tax, $202.20.

Used the PRICELINE link, of course.

Just read some unflattering reviews of this property on TripAdvisor. Most recently, a complaint that the friendly neighborhood working girls and their manager were guests. Several reviews said that it's a good place if you can get a room in "the tower" or away from the Freeway and Sepulveda Blvd. I'll try to remember to post a follow up after I stay here. Does BetterBidding still take hotel reviews?

If anyone's interested, here's the TripAdvisor link: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g32655-d82148-Reviews-BEST_WESTERN_PLUS_Carriage_Inn-Los_Angeles_California.html

  11. I can't believe I blew this.

I called Hyatt House directly and the woman in the sales department said that if my Hotwire deal turns out to be her hotel, I could just call her and she would fix it.

So I did the deal. And it wasn't Hyatt House. It was Springhill Suites by Marriott.

And here's what messed me up. Hotwire said the hotel has free airport shuttle service. Tripadvisor said the only 3 star place in Ft. Lauderdale with free parking, free internet, free breakfast, suites, and free airport shuttle service was Hyatt Place. The Springhill Suites was listed by TripAdvisor as NOT having free shuttle service. So, based on that information, it just HAD to be Hyatt House.

Oh well, that blew up in my face. Unlike Hyatt House, which is ranked #2 or #3 in the area by TripAdvisor, Springhill Suites is ranked #9 of 18 in the area. I'll try calling them to see if they can make sure I get 2 double beds, and if I can swing that, I'll post in a further reply.

By the way, I got this for 4 nights from 2/4/13 to 2/8/13 for $99 per night. After taxes and fees, it's $452.08.

Admin, you can change the title of this posting to reflect the win.

  12. Taking a vacation in February with an old college friend. Planning to share a room. Don't want to share a bed. Just too weird.

Found a GREAT deal on Hotwire for $99 per night. All my research indicates that it's the Hyatt House near the Ft. Lauderdale Airport. It's greatest features are that the rooms are "suites," the parking is free, the internet is free, the breakfast is free, and it's rated #3 in the area by TripAdvisor. With that kind of deal, I don't think I care that I'll have to drive to the beach!

But once I book the deal, I'm pretty sure I'll be given a room with a King. Might it be possible to request 2 double beds? Would they be likely to honor such a request?

    What say you? Opinions?
