  1. wanted to let anyone who might also be interested in this area know, the hawthorn suites in vernon hills is now a holiday inn express- so I am guessing the 3* for $49 is the holiday inn express
  2. If anyone could help ID these 2 hotwire hotels in vernon hills that would be so wonderful! Dates are 12/24-26/08 1st hotel: 3.5 star in vernon hills- amenities are fitness center, pool, restaurant, business center, high speed internet, golf nearby, tennis nearby, $59 a nite 2nd hotel: 3 star in vernon hills- amenities are suite, complimentary breakfast, fitness center, pool, laundry, high speed internet, $49 a nite Thanks so much in advance!
  3. It's a very nice property- thanks for posting this- glad to know it's offerred on PRICELINE bidding
  4. My dates are 03/14-03/15/08 (1 nite). There are two 4 and one 3.5 stars listed. 1. 4* O'hare airport North $69 shuttle, fitness, pool, restaurant, business, high speed internet 2. 4* O'hare airport south $79 shuttle, fitness, restaurant, business, internet, golf nearby. 3. 3.5* O'hare airport north $62 shuttle, fitness, restaurant, business, internet Could any of these be the ohare hilton (the one right at the airport)? Thanks so much!
  5. you will probably need to post details of the hotel such as amenities and dates in order for someone to ID the location, but from previous postings the Hyatt Regency has come up as a 3.5* around the same amount
  6. Stayed here one night feb 3rd, 2007. Won it for $32, after unsuccessful bids of $25 and $28. It was a nice stay. Very quiet hotel, pool usually empty, which my sons loved. Breakfast was ok, not as nice as some other country inns but still nice for a free breakfast. Staff very friendly and helpful. Very easy to find, and not too far from restaurants, etc. Room clean and well appointed. Will definitely stay again.
  7. I will probably either book diretly with the hotel or try HOTWIRE. thank you for your time and patience.
  8. sorry- was not sure how recent the list was, and thought perhaps there might be a few lurkers on the board who may not have posted their wins in this area. My true goal would be a country inn and suites, we stayed at the one in green bay east and loved it. but I would accept at least a 2 star with a pool of some sort. I would like to keep the bid under $50 a nite. my dates would be arriving 08/11/2007 for one night. Thanks!
  9. we are looking to spend one night in green bay in august- has anyone won a room on priceline in green bay? if so, which hotel did you win and what was your winning bid? Thanks!
  10. wanted to add our stay was very nice- but also wanted to add the mis-spelling above is not my fault (suburbts)- I didn't write it :)- as a teacher I would never do that :)
  11. you got a good deal- I don't think you could have bid any lower- I tried for that same weekend up for $32 and was rejected.
  12. I've wanted to try this one but there are 4 of us (2 adults and 2 preschoolers)- cany anyone speak to what size room/occupancy the priceline rooms provide/accomodate? thanks!
  13. Used SB Link First tried $25 2.5 star dundee-elgin- rejected then added free rebid of aurora for $28- rejected then added free rebid of algonquin for $30- rejected then added free rebid of willowbrook for $32- accepted elgin-dundee 2.5 star Country Inn And Suites Elgin Dundee - Elgin 2270 Point Boulevard Elgin, Illinois 60123 Your Offer Price: $32.00 Extend Your Stay Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $32.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $10.87 Total Charges*: $42.87 Very happy with this win- love country inns! Rate for this location for this nite is $85.
  14. Put a review of our stay on the reviews page. It was an okay stay, nothing exceptional. http://www.betterbidding.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry103719
  15. Stayed here for 3 nights over new years. Paid $55/nite thru priceline. Dec 29, 2006-jan 1, 2007 Missed the entrance to self park, and had a ton of bags, so used valet. Valet is $22/nite, self park is $19, so not a huge difference. But was disappointed to find out other hotels within a block or 2 of the hilton only charge between $10-12 for self park- Radisson was $12 for self park, $18 for valet. Valet parking attendant was okay, bell man very prompt and attentive to helping unload car and bringing us to desk to check in. We switched to self park for the last 2 nights. Upon check in, we were given a room with 2 queens. We asked if we could have a king with a queen sofa. basically we were told we had the cheap rooms, and it would be an additional $51 a nite to upgrade to a king with sleeper. so we took our 2 queen bed room, and the bellman helped us upstairs to our room on the 19th floor (pool floor). upon the elevator doors opening onto the 19th floor, we were greeted by the most horrendous screaming I have ever heard. We walk over to the pool door and looked in. A large family had taken over the entire pool area, and were carrying on like it was their backyard pool party. Flips, dives, marco polo, screaming and yelling like maniacs. A small baby was floating on an inner tube in the whirlpool! Just a mess, unsafe for all involved- and no one else could possibly use the pool. I asked the bellman if there was security to deal with this. he informed me that if there was an adult present, there was nothing they could do about it. He led us to our room down the hall from the pool, where we could still clearly hear the screaming from the pool. No soundproofing at all. Were seranaded by the pool revelers until almost 11pm. Initial impression was that the room was nice, but nothing special. Basic hotel room. There was only 1 trash can in the room, and it was one of those narrow, art deco small cans that hold like 3 tissues, so most of our trash (our kids had juice boxes, toy boxes from gifts for the kids, etc) had to put placed next to the can. Room had a coffee/tea maker in the bathroom, and we used the tea bags, sugar packets, napkins, paper cups, and stirrer the first night. 2nd day, housekeeping came through, but left all the trash boxes next to the garbage can, did not replace tea packets, sugar, cups or stirrer, and left a sheled sunflower seed on the floor where there had not been one before. When I complained about the pool and bellman the morning after we arrived, the manager gave us breakfast coupons for the buffet. The food was so horrible, if I had paid I'd have demanded my money back. Eggs were undercooked, oatmeal overcooked and one large lump in the pot, poor selection of breads, and poor food presentation. Even my kids who usually love breakfast wouldn't eat any of it. Location is excellent. We could easily walk to all downtown attractions, but had to drive to zoo, speedway, and children's museum. Be aware, parking fills up quickly on game nights. We ended up taking a cab on game night, since we were afraid of moving our car and not finding a spot when we returned back. We did order room service for lunch on new yr's eve- all of which was very tasty and large portions. We ordered 2 kids' pizzas (which were large and very good), hamburgers (which were also good, and the sides with it were huge), and the homemade chips with dip (large portion and very good). The third day, the trash was still not picked up, and the tea/sugar/cups were still not replaced, so I called down asking for more tea. Someone brought up 2 tea bags, and nothing else. I've had more generous supplies at a travelodge. So as I was checking out I did mention my concerns regarding housekeeping, garbage pickup, and replenishment of supplies. Gentleman behind the counter (Jonathan) was very helpful, and took off my bill the room service and first night valet parking. So our stay was nice, just okay. I would not rate this hotel exceptional in anyway. It's about even with a hyatt. Three stars is appropriate.
  16. if you're driving, make an attempt to park next door for $22. thru the hotel it's $45, plus "tip"- and the valets literally stand right next to you until you tip them. Hotel was very nice, good for $60, but quite a walk to anything downtown. have a great stay!
  17. I've been trying to bid downtown up to $45, today first tried $50, then rebid for $55 and scored with that.
  18. We previously won wyndham, but weren't thrilled with location or reviews. Needed to extended our trip anyway, so rebid downtown only. Very glad this has an indoor pool. Won 3* Hilton Indianapolis Downtown Indianapolis 120 West Market Street Indianapolis, Indiana 46204 Your Offer Price: $55.00 Extend Your Stay Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Subtotal: $165.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $33.66 Total Charges*: $198.66 Average nightly rate for these nights is $189, so happy with our deal. Used SavingsBarn Link. $19 for parking is reasonable, figuring we just spent $45 a night to park at the Swissotel in Chicago.
  19. oh well, it wasn't meant to be. this time I had every intention of actually staying here on the bid, but one of my sons was just having a really horrid day and we just didn't have the energy to go to the hotel. wasn't meant to be.....
  20. just for those who may be interested for future purchases- I ALWAYS win this on priceline for $32- could save a few bucks- but for some reason this hotel is listed as 3* on priceline and you indicated it was listed as 3.5* on hotwire- interesting.....
  21. Posted a review of this establishment in the hotel review section- please read before bidding in this area!
  22. Stayed here last night. Won 2 rooms through priceline for $30 each room. Glad I did not pay more. It is in the process of becoming a Hyatt Place. Has a long way to go to be a hyatt. Unless hyatt is lowering their standards. Low quality guests- tried to take our 4 yr olds to the pool, and a large family (kids ranging in age from 8 to newborn, and a mother who looked all of 24) who promptly took over the pool, doing cannonballs and diving into the pool right on my kids' heads). Pool was very small, filmy, and the pool area was poorly heated so we froze when we got out. We finally gave up and left the pool, and tried to tell the front desk staff about what was occurring at the pool. This was 8pm at night, and no customers were in the lobby, there was a customer service person and someone who appeared to be a janitor standing around the front desk. Neither of them even attempted to do anything about it, or to even acknowledge our concerns. There was a complimentary breakfast which was awful! There were eggs and sausage, but my entire family took some, and we all dumped it in the trash- not only did it taste bad, but it was cold (and we came promptly at 7am when breakfast started!). No waffle maker, only frozen waffles you put in a toaster. Day old bread and muffins, and cold cereal. We have stayed at the residence inn, and country inn and suites- and those complimentary breakfasts were TONS better than this one! We received very poor customer service- the evening we arrived we expressed concerns about the pool, all we received was a shrug, nothing else. Same response the next day when we expressed concern about the pool, tv channels, and the terrible breakfast- just a shrug, and we were told "when we become a hyatt the breakfast will be better but it won't be free anymore." Room was okay, a bit cramped as they tried to put too much furniture in a small space. We received a room across from the elevator even though the hotel was not full. Not my preferred location. But it actually was quiet. There were very few tv channels (cbs, nbc, abc, tnt, tbs, a&e, pbs/wttw, and discovery channel). Also, the heating system was very loud in the room, and would loudly and constantly cycle on and off all night. There was plenty of parking, and 2 eateries within walking distance across the parking lot- a mexican eatery and a buona beef eatery. nothing much else anywhere within easy reach. Would not recommend this place- and if this is how a hyatt place will be- I will also be avoiding all hyatt place's in the future!!
  23. Bid 2.5* hoping to win Lombard Hyatt, but was "upgraded" to Hyatt Lodge. I love the Hyatt Lodge, but have really been wanting to try Lombard Hyatt. I will make sure to bring my inflatable mattress this time. Also glad that the pool will be operational at that time. Used the SB Link. First bid was $30, offerred a retry if I upped my bid by $8. Declined, added aurora for free rebid and upped bid to $32, accepted and "upgraded." I have decided if I want to try lombard hyatt I will probably just have to book directly through them.
