  5. Got this hotel on the 1st try. Have stayed here before and got it for the same price. Wasnt really bothered to play the game and save maybe $4 night at most. Satisfied with $40, and hotel is adequate for our needs with a decent breakfast included. What more could you want! Now see the direct link to PRICELINE.com at the top of the page. Will use those from now on. Thanks betterbidding!
  6. Was bidding for someone else who wanted to firm their plans up today. Figured I would have luck at $62 at either 4*, 3*, or 2.5*. Sure enough first bid was accepted. Probably could have gotten it cheaper, but I am pleased at this price. 4* - $62 - Downtown Ottawa Zone Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: US$62.00 Subtotal: US$62.00 Taxes & Service Fees: US$15.96 Total Charges: US$77.96 Thanks BetterBidding.
  7. Had been planning a trip to Toronto for the WinterCity festival for the end of January. When we won this hotel we were excited due to the location of the Bond Place being right in the heart of Dundas Square. This provided easy access to the Canon Theatre, Eaton Centre, and the Air Canada Centre. Upon arrival, the location was excellent. However, that was the only thing this hotel had going for it. We arrived at our room to find two single beds(if they were even that big - my feet were hanging off the end by a good 4-5" and I am only 5'10") in the smallest room we have ever stayed in. We had a lovely view of a construction site which was outside our room. However, I think the construction workers enjoyed the view more as we constantly felt their stares forcing us to close the blinds. We decided we would make the best of things and we could deal with the cramp space if we spent as little time in the room as possible. We set out on the town...returning around 10:30 pm. Tired after a long day of walking, we decided to relax and watch television. Well, the remote didn't work and after about five minutes of watching television the picture froze with John Stossel from 20/20 repeating the same sentence over (Doesnt it make you angry when..doesnt it make you angry when...) and over again for 5 minutes with his face alternating between pink and green. At this point, I climbed out of bed, turned off the television, and began counting the hours until we were awake and checking out. Location is great, but not when you sacrifice quality and comfort. Also, of note. I have read similar traveler complaints on TA. The complaints usually originated from those who noted that they booked via Priceline. It seems, like this hotel might give guests the "priceline treatment".
  8. When I won the Bond Place for $47, that was my first bid. You might be able to get it even lower. The Best Western Primrose has been won recently within your budget. Another option is to try a 3* downtown as historically there have been wins at the Delta Chelsea for ~$50.
  9. Tried 3* at this price with no success. Added 2.5* to the bid and was accepted. First bid at this level and price. Accessed PL via savingsbarn.com link.
  10. Hi, I think I was the one making the $65 bid you were referring to. When I bid, I checked HOTWIRE before and there was a 2* for $79 in Secaucus-Meadowlands with just a laundry amenity. I took a guess that this might be the extended stay in rutherford meadowlands. Tried 2* in Rutherford-Meadowlands area at $65 and got it on the first bid. This sounds like the same property you see on HOTWIRE for your stay. However, as the others have said it could just as likely be HoJo. All this said, remember that by bidding through Priceline -like HOTWIRE - you are not guaranteed a certain hotel. If you are absolutely sure you want this hotel and only this hotel, then Priceline's "Name Your Own Price" might not be the best way to book.
  11. I should've also mentioned that this way my first bid in this zone at the 2* level. Thanks BB
  12. I forgot to put the hotel in the title. Thereaure, Do you mind fixing it. Extended Stay America Meadowlands - Rutherford 2-star Meadowlands - Rutherford 750 Edwin L. Ward Hwy Rutherford, New Jersey 07070 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $65.00 Subtotal: $130.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $28.52 Total Charges*: $158.52
  13. Have been trying for several days to get something in either Jersey City or Secaucus. No luck expanded to Meadowlands, went up to $110 for a 3* and 2 1/5* with no luck. was trying to avoid Extended Stay. Oh well, availability is low this weekend. Used savingsbarn.com link to access priceline. We have two nights booked in North Bergen @ Comfort Suites prior to this stay. We have to move here for our last night.
  14. Checked on hotwire price for a 2 1/2 star came up as $69. Was hoping for Courtyard or Fairfield Tried first bid $40 in Burlington-Williston zone 2 1/2 stars and was accepted. Funny this hotel says it is in south burlington but I specifically chose Burlington Williston zone rather than South Burlington zone. Used savingsbarn.com PRICELINE link.
  15. In-Laws have company from Europe visiting. They wanted to take them to the Nation's Capital. Was trying for the courtyard in byward market. Day 1 - Tried 2.5 * @ $52...offered counterbid $67 Day 2 - Tried 2.5 * @ $55...offered counterbid $70 Day 3 - Tried 2.5 * @ $57...accepted - upgraded to a 3*. Marriott Ottawa 3-star Ottawa 100 Kent Street Ottawa, Ontario K1P 5R7 I think I accessed priceline through savingsbarn.com but I cant remember to be honest. This was a couple of days ago that I won. Thanks BB
  16. Had previously bid on and won same property for $50 on the following night (07/21). We decided to stay an extra night. Rather than extending stay, thought I would try to get the property a little cheaper. Started with... 3* $45 - rejected added rebid zone $47 - accepted. We can get a cup of joe with our $3 savings. Entered priceline through savingsbarn.com
  17. Found rooms incredibly expensive this time of year. Tried a couple weeks ago all the way up to $109 for a 3*. No luck Been watching Hotwire religiously and was going to settle for 2* @ $59. To my surprise when I logged in this morning I saw a 4* for $79. Logged into priceline through savingsbarn.com First bid $69... accepted. This is the second time in the last couple weeks I have bid and been accepted on my first try. Very happy considering we had the Hilton booked at $160 per night as our fallback option. Thanks betterbidding.
  18. Sorry Henrik, It is July 9-11. I actually was just on Hotwire and I noticed that they dropped the price of 4* significantly - down to $79. Bid $69 on priceline and was accepted, I am going to try a new thread in the priceline forum. Thanks for your help anyhow.
  19. Hotwire has a two star listed in Niagara Falls, ON. In the Niagara Falls zone. The only amenity listed is a swimming pool. Anyone have an idea what this hotel might be. Thanks for your help
  20. Used savingsbarn.com link. Tried unsuccessfully to get a 2.5 star for less than 30 in the burbs. Thought I would take a shot downtown. First bid $50...accepted. Might have been able to save a few bucks if I had started lower. Oh well, with the high dollar can't complain. Thanks betterbidding.
  21. Try Gananoque, Ontario. Gananoque is on Lake Ontario with easy access to the 1000 Islands Parkway taking you down to the Ivy Lea Bridge and beyond. I dont think there are any reported wins there. There is only star level to choose (1*) Maybe the Travelodge? Another option is Brockville. However, I think by the sounds of your needs you would appreciate the quaintness of Gananoque.
  22. Thanks! Bought the Hamilton Entertainment Book to accompany visit. At only $9.99 it will pay for itself on this one trip. :)
  23. A great price over the advertised rates. Wouldnt be able to travel nearly as often, if it werent for betterbidding! :) BTW, I wanted to buy an Entertainment Book. Do you still have a referral link?
  24. Bid through Savingsbarn link. Didnt figure I could get it cheaper than the betterbidding HOTWIRE link at $69. Have always found Hamilton tough through Priceline as the supply of rooms isnt great. 1st Bid $55...rejected. Priceline counter-offered at $70. Could get it for $69 through Hotwire. 2nd bid added rebid zone... $59...accepted. Thanks Betterbidding.
