  1. I have not seen any success for Stutgart in Germany so I thought I would give it a try. I am not looking to go until December so I will progressively update this thread and report on any winnings so the hotel list can be updated. I tried for a 4 star central zone bid for $40 tonight. Following the PRICELINE links to support the site of course. No luck. Germany seems to be reasonably priced for Hotels so provided inventory is there I am hopeful of a decent deal. I will keep you all informed.
  2. Hi All, I followed the appropriate PRICELINE links to support the site and the following is my bidding history. For those only interested in the win it was $85 per night for the Hotel Palomar in Washington. A lovely hotel. We have stayed there before and are happy with the win. The rate on the hotel website was 299. 4 star bids in Dupont Circle have 4 free rebids (Crystal City, DC Suburbs, Mount Vernon, Springfield). Adding one of the free zones in each time my history was as follows: $55, $65, $72, $78 and $85 (we have a winner). I had bit up to $85 earlier for the Capitol Hill area but was turned down. Hope this helps someone.
  3. I have tried for Barca before and not had much luck. Perhaps there is not a big PL inventory?
  4. Hi Willtravel. Yes I started at 110 with the Latin Quarter Zone and then I added Eiffel Tower zone and landed this place. Do you think it is in the Eiffel Tower zone? Do you know much about the hotel and its surrounds? I am comfortable on the Paris metro so it should not be too much of an issue if it is outside the zone a little bit.
  5. I initially tried with a bid of 110 and added another area and took it to 125 and was accepted. Could have got it cheaper I think if I had not raised my initial bid by 15. Not too worry. I read that the hotel is a little out of the way but getting around Paris on the metro is more than fine. I used the sites PRICELINE links.
  6. I took it to $110 and was accepted for the 4 star Moevenpick Hotel in Amsterdam which seems to be a common win for the site. With taxes and charges it was 250 all up. Used the PRICELINE links from the site in order to support the site.
  7. I tried again going up to 105. I really have been tight on this bid. I got an offer again of 118. I had to laugh. A game of cat and mouse. I will try again tomorrow. Might go to 108. Will keep you informed. I used the PRICELINE links.
  8. Well I went back in. Using the appropriate PRICELINE links as always. Tried a cheeky bid of 90 and got a counter offer of 118 again. Given that I have plenty of time to spare, I decided to try a counter bid again. I added the North zone and went to 98. It was rejected again. So obviously, at this time, they have a desire to to get above 100. I might start at 100 tomorrow and then go to 105. I might try for a 5* around 100 and see how I go. Will update you all later.
  9. How do you find bidding for European Hotels generally? Im going to do a few over the next few months. Dont know if there is any difference between the UK and US site.
  10. Tried to bid for the Amsterdam (Centre and Museum Quarter) today. Initially bid $95 for a 4* The screen came up that my bid would be unlikely to be accepted (this is new for me and rather distracting). I pushed on. I had a counter bid for 118 per night which I declined. Went back and added the north area which does not have 4* and tried for 100. Rejected. Will give it a go tomorrow some time.
  11. I recently won a hotel for HK (my Priceline Hong Kong Win). I have to say that it quite difficult and many many bids were tried and rejected. I do not know if they have alot of inventory for HK at the moment.
  12. Nah I know that London is not car friendly but we intend to take it out into the rural south east as that is where we will be staying for a week. But I dont want to get into London Heathrow or St. Pancras station and have to trapse all over London to find the rental agency so i was just trying to marry the two up.
  13. Anyone ever rented a car in London? If so where is the pickup area?
  14. Bit disappointed with this and probably paid over the odds on reflection. Nevertheless, I used the savingsbarn links to start the bidding.
  15. Had to change dates to 28/1-2/2. Ended up with the COURTYARD Marriott 3* for $55 per night. Used the SavingsBarn. PRICELINE links. Thanks to all. Could the title of the thread be updated to reflect the win.
  16. Thanks very much Willtravel. Yes the westin would be nice if it were to come up. I got up to $78 today and had no luck. Will try again tomorrow when my 24 hour period expires. How much do you think the Westin is going for on HOTWIRE?
  17. Thanks thereuare. Happy to take the following zones at the 4* level. Tiergarten - Kufuerstendamm or East Berlin.
  18. Hi All, Wondering if anyone could suggest a strategy for Berlin for 24/1-28/1? Do not know what areas are central for tourist stuff but willing to take suggestions. Do you think a 4* would be possible for less than 100? Also, I will shortly do some bidding for Paris, Budapest and Barcelona - are priceline competitive in these areas? If so, I will create a new thread. Always happy to continue to support the site by using the appropriate links.
  19. You said in your post that you wanted April dates. Did you mean May dates as the April dates you cited have passed?
  20. Anyone able to pick this one? It is a 4 star with... Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Tennis Nearby Spa Services Is said to be a customer favourite? If I was to try to land this hotel on priceline what area would it fall into?
  21. ended up winning a bid for $15 per day on a mid size for 5/10-5/13. Hertz was the Company provided. used savingsbarn.com
