Follow-up: I arrived two hours late thanks to delays at PHL. Checkout at Budget took 10+ minutes compared to 1 minute for FastBreak customers. Because I booked through Priceline my rental began and ended at the pre-agreed times, not at the actual rent time. They only had one car left in my class, a Chevy HHR. I really liked the car, whether or not I consider it a true "mid-size". Only problem was the smell of stale smoke. On the last day I found a dirty ashtray in the glovebox (it's shaped like a cup with a lid and fits in one of the cup holders). Had I not been so late I would have gone back in and asked for a different car because of the smell, but overall it was a good car.

irobot, I agree with you. I'm on this board today because this is the first time I actually booked a car with priceline. Usually I find a better deal with Hertz, Budget or Enterprise. This time priceline beat my lowest cancellable reservation by $10 for a three day reservation, and I went up from compact to midsize.

First time renting a car through Priceline; I usually can beat it using coupons and discounts, but this beat the lowest rate I could find (National for $64.08 total). I first bid $10 for a compact and was rejected so for grins I submitted $11 for a mid-size and was accepted! I just wish I could add my Fastbreak number to make picking up the car a little easier. Neither Budget nor Priceline will do that.
