  1. Hi, I had a bizarre experience with HOTWIRE. I called back after some hours (still within 24hour window), this time the hotwire agent helped to check to see the lower rate (I wonder why the first agent never did that and just asked me to wait. Lazy?). However, she ended up saying she couldn't find the cheaper rate I was talking about and the hotel was sold-out. I was like "What!!!!" and tried to explain that a few hours ago it was still there, I even saved the page as a proof. But she got annoyed and said that the rate wasn't there and there was nothing she could do. I felt cheated and stupid then. Anyway, after I hang up, I checked again (I was outside with no laptop, so I couldn't call and browse Internet at the same time) and THE CHEAPER RATE WAS STILL THERE!!! I was like "What!!!" the 2nd time. I had to call back, went through all the "press 1 press 2 and wait for available agent" process again. Thankfully, this time I managed to speak with a proper agent who knew what she was doing and processed the refund for me immediately. I received a refund email stating the refund will be within 10 biz days into my credit card. Hope it will go smoothly now.
  2. Hi, Yes I used HOTWIRE link from betterbidding to start my booking. I called Hotwire and they said I have to submit claims online via the account, but when I followed their instructions there was no button "Refund request" (like they said) to click. Then they carried on to say that the system had problem, try again later. I think it's just the "excuse". After 24 hours window of Low price guarantee, they will just go back on their words...
  3. Amenities: Boutique Hotel I was stupid, didn't check rates first. Found the same hotel for a little bit cheaper rate and is even "Pay-when-you-stay" plus cancellable. Hotel seems not bad, which is a plus.
  4. Hi Aaron, Amenities: Free Internet, Boutique hotel, Restaurant(s), Internet access, Golf nearby, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Roll-in shower
  5. Amenities: Free Internet, Boutique hotel, Golf nearby, Restaurant I was hoping for Hotel Carlton as the amenities seemed to match, and the deal was boasting a "90% recommended", so after browsing through the list of 3star hotels in the forum, I was quite sure that it is Hotel Carlton. Turned out to be Hotel Majestic (it was in the 3.5star hotel list --> might need to update the list there). Majestic is not as high rating as Carlton, so I'm a bit disappointed and scared (there are rumours of the hotel being haunted @_@). Anyone staying here before? I did use the HOTWIRE link from the forum's board to access Hotwire. Thanks.
  6. I accessed PRICELINE through betterbidding link. Got what I hoped for so I'm quite happy :))) Free Breakfast Free Internet (in Room) Free Parking Outdoor Pool
  7. Hi all, I have eyed this hotel for a few months, I actually booked one cancellable room sometime ago for USD89 plus tax = USD101 to wait for a more confirmed plan. My plan is more or less confirmed now, so I was trying my luck with the Price.line Name Your Own Price. I started with USD40 (no harm playing right?), they rejected until I reached USD57. I guess it is pretty close with one PRICELINE EXPRESS deal of USD59 in the same area. Plus tax is around USD71. Is it a good deal for that time of the year? I am happy enough to save a couple of bucks. Just curious why the tax is more expensive (USD14) when I book the second time, as compared to the first time (USD12) Cheers!
  8. Hi, I saw a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal $93/night for 2star hotel in LIC, so I took it as I know it couldn't possibly be any lower. Turns out to be Best Western City View Inn. Quite far from the nearest subway, but I couldn't ask for more with my budget. Honestly it's so expensive in NYC :( A 4star hotel in central Taipei is even cheaper than a 2star hotel in LIC :(
  9. Hi all, I have been trying to bid for hotel at NYC for 29 Dec to 2 Jan 2016 for the last few days. NYC is expensive and at year-end it gets even more expensive... My budget is below USD120/night (including tax). I'm fine with not staying in Manhattan, as long as I can reach Manhattan within 30min by public transport. I know with my budget, I cannot ask for 3-star hotel and above for that period. So I have bid until USD90/night (including tax) for 2-star hotel at LIC and got rejected. Is my budget of USD120/night including tax possible at all for that period? If not, how much is the minimum price? Thank you. And pardon me for my lack of knowledge, I have never been to USA before...
  10. Hi, First time using Priceline for my NYC-Boston-Washington trip at the end of the year. After a few tries, I won Hotel 140 for USD66/per night for 2 nights 27-28 Dec plus tax, total cost USD159.64. Is it a good price? I am quite happy anyway because it is much more affordable than NYC, I can't find any 3-star for that price in NYC :(
