  1. One way rental booking from Orlando to Tampa, 8 days total. Best price i found was 230$ all-in from Avis Problem with priceline, is cost of additional driver fee (for spouse) if you get alamo ~10$/day (!!) ...for the other 4 providers this can usually be avoided (either included or with loyalty programs) So this became a bit of a gamble, with a small chance of being more expensive than my other reservation (if alamo), and a higher probability of achieving some savings (if not alamo) Started bidding at 10$/day for midsize/fullsize/standard, and increased by 1$ each 24h period. At 13$ got counter-offer of 15$, but turned it down to try again. Offer accepted at 14$/day Your Offer Price: $14.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 8 days Subtotal: $112.00 Taxes and Fees: $73.08 Total Charges: $185.08 Despite my number crunching, unfortunately the odds didn't work out for me, and i got Alamo, which is going to work out to ~270$ with the extra driver fees. To make things worse, priceline booking loses the advantage of rapid check-in, and the Alamo in Tampa is off-airport (via shuttle). you win some, you lose some i suppose... would be great if there was a larger database of rentals which might give a better idea of odds of specific provider. several recent wins for Hertz and Avis at MCO for similar dates (along with a couple alamo). surprisingly, Alamo had one of (if not the most) expensive non-opaque rates for this booking booked via the PRICELINE link.
  2. thanks. I see that the embassy does not show up on the pinned list though (never been won?) that is a great tip will have a look. interestingly there is a 3.5* boutique hotel showing up in my original search for ~115 (was 135 earlier i think)...there are no other boutique hotels listed; is this indigo changing their #s around for business vs family travellers???
  3. 3* ottawa downtown, 71 Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access no perfect matches as far as i can tell... any ideas? thanks
  4. Booked through PRICELINE using the link, after bidding 4* up to 78$ and 3.5* up to 76$ using all the rebid zones. Yesterday's bid of 61$ for the 3* was rejected... Current internet rate for this hotel is 179$ (canadian). Decent location and free wireless apparently. HOTWIRE showing only one 3* showing in Downtown area at 71$ with internet, fitness +/- laundry... (??extended stay deluxe as per pinned list, or would also match the Embassy Suites which shows in the Packages listings). Also one 3.5* Boutique/fitness/restaurant/internet (Probably Indigo?) was 134$, so rates seem really high for this date. Anyway, not a bad result (< 1/2 price). Would have been nice to get a 4* in the 70$ range as per previous results...maybe a result of booking 5 weeks ahead. Thanks again for the great site.
  5. Hi Thanks for your help in identifying a 4* toronto downtown east hotel showing: Boutique, REstaurant, Internet, SPa i dont see any boutiques on the pinned list, or in search any ideas? 96$ may 26-27 Thanks! dave
  6. Some changes from pinned list: 3* in contrast to 3.5, and current amenities add non-smoking (see below). Narrowed it down based on tripadvisor rating, so was expecting this hotel Broke booking in 2, because whole duration (4/11-4/16) came up as ~350/night with same hotel description though it has subsequently changed to 102 for the whole booking... :) best rate through hotel was 373+tax PREPAID priceline was showing ~344 Note there is a large conference in town for this period, so prices and availability are terrible. Thought of trying priceline, but this deal was too good to pass up Used the HOTWIRE link! thanks d 3* Hotel Amenities Suite Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Customer Reviews TripAdvisor logo Traveler Rating3.5 out of 5(3.5 out of 5) What's this? 7. Last minute, needed a downtown 3*, so only one chance to bid. this is the only hotel listed in the forum. Best rate on hotwire for a 3* was 74$ (but area includes London south) 1 bid, 71$ accepted, total 87.xx$ very pleased. this is the hotel i wanted, and current online rate 129.99 hoping to upgrade to premier or signature room for a small $$ unfortunately, i had 2 browsers opened, and the window i used was not the savingsbarn linked...sorry--next time!!
  8. got the hyatt regency for 108$/night happy with that as hotwire was 156/night direct through hyatt website 299 canadian/night overall saved ~800$ canadian vs. direct booking could have probably done a bit better but got a little impatient (and also assumed going rate would have been higher given hotwire rate) Bids: 4* van 86 4* van/langey 98 4* van/langley/surrey 108 SUCCESS... have been watching this board for a couple of years, with great results. this is my first post thanks to all...
