Like I said, next thing they'll be giving you a pillow for the bathtub.

We just got back from a stay at a Hotwire booked hotel. We brought our daughter with us, and I kept accidentally putting "2 adults" in the hotwire searches. Before I booked, I realized by mistake and changed it to "2 adults, 1 child". The rate went up around $15-20, which makes sense as you're guaranteed 2 beds. Or not! We got to the hotel, and first of all, they showed the reservation as "2 guests", no mention of the 3rd person in our party. They said they were full and couldn't get us into a room with 2 beds. They had one with a pullout couch, which ended up being ridiculously uncomfortable and seriously shabby accommodations. Is this acceptable for hotwire? If so, what the heck am I paying more for by adding more guests? Maybe next time they'll just bring a pillow to the room and tell the extras to sleep in the bathtub, since it's hotwire they can't guarantee a darn thing. Man are we ticked.

Here's the two review breakdowns I'm seeing - I wish I could tell which was which !

There are two 3* hotels that show up, same price, same amenities. I'm confident they're the Holiday Inn Express's - Royal Mile and Waterfront (see below). One says "Recommended in 100% of customer reviews", the other says "Recommended in 75% of customer reviews" Any idea which is which?? I'd really rather not stay 5 miles outside of town (city center my eye!)

Well it wasn't that hot of a hotel - worth what we paid. Had I paid the $160/nt shown on every other travel website, I'd have been ANGRY....

It's actually a 4* hotel, first bid won it. I'm not annoyed, but it's outside the circle shown on the Priceline map by about 3 blocks...

Searched York, ME and Portsmouth, NH, ratcheted down from 3.5* to 2.5* and got this deal. It's not stellar, about $10 less after taxes than I could find normally. But it does the job!

Thanks to the great re-bidding scheme devised here, I was able to add lots of bids for the 4* Toronto Downtown area without being forced to expand my search! Started bidding at $50, and went up in $4-6 increments til it clicked! 06/18/2009 - 06/21/2009 Le Royal Meridien King Edward for $66 Great deal on a hotel where royalty stays (many sites call it 5*!) and not a bad location either (500' from subway). Thanks! $160/nt on all the websites :)

I am curious - are you ever able to upgrade a room once you've bought through PL or HW? (At Niagara, it's all about the view! And I'm sure the cheap rooms they do on PL/HW are viewless)

4-star hotel in Niagara Falls, Ontario This hotel features the following amenities: Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access $78 USD My guess from the Hotwire Hotel List is the Hilton Niagara Falls Fallsview, or the Doubletree (either would be terrific for me)... What do you think? I really don't want the Fallsview Plaza (previously Renaissance Fallsview) after reading some reviews of it!

Funny - I'm there the exact same dates... but even $60 isn't getting a 4* hotel there. :-(
