  2. I'm very happy to get this hotel at that price. According to other sites, the place is going for over $300/night. It showed up as a 3.5 star hotel, looks like it used to be listed as 4 star. Booked through the better bidding hw link. Details were listed as:   Complimentary Free Internet Amenities Boutique hotel Business center Fitness center Oceanfront hotel Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Smoke-free rooms   80% Hotwire reviews recommended   Tripadvisor  3.5 of 5 1-100 reviews   Know Before You Go An adult over 18 must be present at check-in to assume all liability for the booking. Your account will be charged for the full amount when you book. All bookings are final (no refunds, no changes) This hotel typically charges guests a resort fee of about USD22 per room per night, regardless of how the room is booked. The hotel collects this fee directly from you, so it doesnt show in your Hotwire total.
  3. I was thinking it was between Harrah's and the Taj Mahal, and I got Harrahs. Not a huge savings since the rate directly through them was $183. Listed as : 75% recommended (573 reviews from people like you)Tripadvisor 3.5 out of 5.0Amenities : Casino, Indoor Pool, Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Internet Access, Golf Nearby, Tennis Nearby, Spa Services
  4. The original list was a copy and paste before I paid, but yes it does include a roll-in shower when I look at the full list now. But I'm sure that wasn't listed when I was reviewing the options. 5. 4* Baltimore (Downtown and Inner Harbor) Hyatt Regency Baltimore Used the HOTWIRE link and showed up as $87/night Amenities -Pool(s) -Restaurant(s) -Business Center -Internet access -Tennis Nearby Accessibility -Accessible for the blind -Accessible path of travel -In-room accessibility -Accessible bathroom Reviews - Hotwire customer reviews 90% recommended (535 total reviews) - Tripadvisor 4 out of 5 At first I thought it would be the Royal Sonesta Harbor, but when I went to Tripadvisor that hotel had around 350 reviews. Whereas the Hyatt had around 600 reviews, so I was happy to have either one but had a strong feeling it would end up being the Hyatt.
  6. UPDATE : My Aunt and Uncle showed up at the hotel and they were told the reservation was cancelled by Travelocity. I called Travelocity. and they claimed that the credit card approval didn't go through, so they cancelled the reservation. The problem with that is, I got an onscreen confirmation number and also got a confirmation email saying everything was approved. AND I NEVER got any email or phone call that it was cancelled. I will never use Travelocity again.
  7. Bidding for a family member, had to break up their stay. Got the first night with this Priceline hotel win They wanted around TS, so in the end tried TS, MSG, MTW, MTE, CPS, HK 4* up to $200 3.5* up to $200 3* up to $200 2.5* up to $185 Nothing accepted Then I happened to search Travelocity and saw a Top Secret Hotel deal for Manhattan:Midtown (which is actually a pretty big area) It says 3.5 star, but only shows 3 blue stars in their icon and 4 smile faces for traveler reviews. Hotel Amenities were listed as Non-smoking. Price was $203 per night. Booked this and it was YOTEL New York at Times Square West, which has great reviews.
  8. Got this for a family member, they needed a hotel near DCA. I saw a 3.5 star on hotwire for $89 for the night, so went to priceline and bid $70. Got this hotel on the first bid.
  9. Forgot to post this earlier. Got this for a family member. Started with 4* and eventually moved down to 3.5 star and got the Sheraton Baltimore City Center Hotel for $80. They said the hotel was very nice, not the closest to the inner harbor but not too far of a walk.
  10. Been bidding a few times over the last week and haven't seen much. Finally got something last night (8/5) Was looking for 8/6 - 8/9 Started with 4* tried all of central Manhattan (MSG,TS,MTW,MTW,CPS,HK,ESB) up to $170 Lowered to 3.5* up to $175 Lowered to 3* up to $175 Lowered to 2.5* up to $175 Decided to try and split it up. So finally got the 3* for $170 after exhausting the higher levels up to $190 in most of central Manhattan. Still looking for 8/7-8/9, but I'll start another thread.
  11. Details were: White House - Downtown Area 3 star Rated 8.0 out of 10 (or higher) This Hotel has: Pets Allowed | Restaurant | Business Center
  12. Used the Betterbidding PRICELINE link. Bids : 1. 4* DC : White House - Downtown : $90 2. 3.5* DC : White House - Downtown : $90 3. 3* DC : White House - Downtown : $90 Nothing got accepted but they had a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal for $116/night 3* in White House - Downtown. I'm booking this for someone else and they were ok with this price. It ended up being the Donovan House. Just a note, I searched Hotwire and it showed a similar 3* White House - Downtown hotel for $146/night. So I'm happy with the room that was booked.
  13. Just wanted to share this before your trip Hotel Review Liaisaon Capitol Hill
  14. So we just stayed here and I have to say it was a really nice hotel and the staff was very friendly. I read a few of the reviews and tips on Tripadvisor, so I had a few ideas of what to expect. Here are my own observations. Liasion Hotel - Nice rooms, clean and decent size (ours had two beds each). - Flat screen TV, desk with chair, coffee maker (no fridge in our rooms, but I think you can request it), and $4 bottle of water - Pay for wifi access available, but there is a business center that had free PCs and printer, but it was small and always had people there. - Nice lobby area, with bar and attached restaurant (Art & Soul : Very good food from chef Art Smith : formerly Oprah's cook) - Right next door to a fire station - Nice rooftop pool (we took a look before it started raining) Parking - At the hotel it was $47 overnight - Right around the corner, go north on New Jersey Ave, make a right on E st, and the lot is on your right. $20/night. The lot closes around midnight, so if you come in late, don't expect to park there. (it's VERY close, 2-3 minute walk) - A few blocks away there is 24hr lot at Union station, pretty easy walk back to the hotel. $19 (12-24hrs) Food - The restaurant is Very good, not cheap at all but very good food and not overly fancy. - There is a liquor store on the corner at E st (looks a little shifty but ok inside). It has much more than just liquor, there is juices, drinks, snacks, etc ... it's more like a convenience store with alcohol. Hours, something like 8am-9pm. - Union Station has lots of options for food, check out there website. It's basically a mall inside with food and shops. - Plenty of places around the tourists areas too, multiple food courts or restaurants available. Transportation - We mostly walked, it's a few blocks to the Capitol Building and an easy walk over to the museum area - Since union station is so close you can take the metro anywhere. - We planned on doing the Circulator (Red DC bus), but the Simthsonian loop only runs on weekends. Tourist - The Smithsonian museums are free and there are multiple around. - The Spy Museum was north of the museum area and cost $18 per adult, a little bit of a walk. - The Washington Monument, tickets are free but people line up at 7am and they don't open until 9am. You can order the tickets online for a small fee ($2-$3) but plan on doing it weeks/months in advance. - The Old Post Office Pavilion has the second highest view in DC in the old clock tower, it's free and not crowded like the Washington Monument. There is a small food court at the ground floor, mostly snacks and desserts (Ben & Jerrys, Smoothies) - TONS more things to do around DC
  15. The hotel is nothing special, but the rooms were clean and pretty large, so that was nice. There is a coffee maker in the room, but no fridge (at least in the two we had). The walk to the inner harbor wasn't bad, we stayed to the main streets and even on the way back around 11 we felt alright. There is a little coffee shop (drinks, pastries, etc) and a little convenience store (snacks, drinks, toiletries) in the lower lobby area. The only complaint that I have, we had two rooms and we asked for one room with two beds. Well they said that it was a $20 upgrade charge, and reluctantly I agreed, but then when he went to book the second room they didn't have any Kings left, so we would get a queen. Well it ended up that both rooms had two beds, so I pretty much paid $20 extra for nothing. Just watch out for this in the future for anyone else. The water taxi in the inner harbor is $10/person for an all day pass, and I felt it was worth it just for the ride itself. There are a few that go around, so they come around pretty quickly, but make sure you get on the correct one (two different routes), just tell the person where you want to go. We had an awful experience at Piazza Tuscan Grill at the Pier 5 Hotel, the service was amazingly slow and it wasn't even crowded. The waiter was too busy hanging out and chatting with the other staff to care. I had to get up twice to ask for service. I would NOT recommend ever going there.
  16. latentpower: Just wanted to say thanks for the info, I agree with just about everything you said. The hotel is nothing special, but the rooms were clean and pretty large, so that was nice. We just used the hotel parking lot and $15 is cheap compared to lots of other places we go. The walk to the inner harbor wasn't bad, we stayed to the main streets and even on the way back around 11 we felt safe.
  17. Just curious how you like/disliked the hotel. I just won this hotel in this priceline bid. Did you park there? How was the walk to the harbor? Thanks
  18. After bidding every other day or few days for 4* up to $100/night. I decided to lower my star ratings. Won 3* Baltimore (Downtown-Inner Harbor) Radisson Lord Baltimore, $55, 5/28/10 - 5/29/10 ... 2 Rooms
  19. So I had been bidding 4* up to $95 and not getting anything, so it was getting closer to the date and I didn't want to be without a hotel room. Bid $80 4* Downtown Bid $65 3.5* Downtown Bid $55 3* Downtown ... Accepted Decent since I see this same hotel on hotwire for $69. I wanted something a little closer to the Inner Harbor, but can't really complain for this price and it's only one night. Used the PRICELINE link on the site.
  20. Needed two rooms near the Dulles Airport (IAD) Won: Hyatt Dulles Dulles North - Herndon - Reston 2300 Dulles Corner Blvd Herndon, Virginia 20171 1: Bid $40, 4* Dulles North (IAD) ... Counter offer Add $10, didn't accept 2: Bid $40, Add 3.5* ... Rejected 3: Bid $43, Add Free Rebid Zone ... Accepted Used the PRICELINE Link. You really need to update your zone for this area, they were different now on PRICELINE.
  21. Since I've still got time, I'll probably try around the same prices and I'll consider going down to 3.5*. I keep an eye on HOTWIRE prices to see where the trend of PRICELINE prices are going.
  22. Saw others getting it for about 60-70. Started at $60 with 4* Convention Center - Capitol Hill Rebid: $70 with White House - Downtown Rebid: $75 with Crystal City I had bonus cash so $75+10 /room/night. The only thing I read is that parking at this hotel is nearly $50/night. I'll look for another lot in the area for cheaper rates.
  23. Bid up to $95 for 4* Baltimore (Downtown-Inner Harbor) for two rooms. Rejected. I'll keep trying in a few days. Used the PRICELINE link.
  24. Looking at what was available through hotwire, I see that the Lowe's hotel is there for $136. I need two rooms, so started at $85 adding $5 each time up to $105 with no accepted offers.
  25. Been trying to get three rooms in DC for a while now for 6/18 - 6/20, but nothing with bids up to $140, 2.5 - 4*, and lots of zones. Seems like from 6/19 - 6/20 the rates are very high with lots of places sold out, I guess a convention or something. Was really surprised when my $115 bid for Downtown, 4* got accepted on first try for just 6/18. Details: Bid Date: 6/11/07 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $115.00 Subtotal: $345.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $59.34 Total Charges*: $404.34 I tried to add a day to our trip with the "Extend your stay" link, but no go.
