  1. Decided on August 20th: Bid $60 Rejected Added rebid zone and bid $65 rejected Added rebid zone and bid $70 ACCEPTED Won: Millenium Knickerbocker Dates: check-in: August 20 check-out: August 21 We stayed here last year and the location is great. I'm happy I got it for $30 less than last year though! Thanks for your help!
  2. Sorry!! The night is really not an issue but I want to make sure that since I have talked to them my parents haven't scheduled anything for those dates. I would hate to book a room on priceline today to find out that my mom has something planned for Friday the 25th. It is a 2.5 hour drive from their house so I do need to check these things out once again before booking.....don't worry, I will keep you updated on what I do whether it be the 20th or the 25th. Did I do something wrong???
  3. Thank you for your strategy! I will probably not start the bidding on this for a few days as I need to figure out which date works the best for my family but I will make sure to update you as soon as I decide and start the bidding process. Thanks again!
  4. Thank you for looking at that for me! I saw the $180/night on hotwire too but you are right and it is not worth saving that little (especially divided by 7 people). I will check out those other hotels you mentioned too. We booked directly through Paris's website and we requested rooms with 2 double beds. I know that is not guaranteed but I figured I would just call them a week or two before we come and make sure that we are put in a room with 2 beds. I assume that more people probably want rooms with a king bed anyway. I think we are just going to keep our fingers crossed and hope it works out! I will keep looking between now and then since we have a lot of time and see if any other deals come up. I keep you posted.
  5. We are definitely willing to spend in the $100 range like we did last year and I already see some 4* hotels on hotwire for that time around $100. But obviously I'm always looking for a better deal. I just didn't know what was considered a good deal or how cheap you can go in Chicago for a 4* hotel in August. Last year when I bid $100 for a 4* hotel it was accepted on the first try so I figured I must have started my bid a little high. Any guidance on where to start the bidding?
  6. I am looking for a 4* room in Chicago in the River North/Michigan Avenue area for one night sometime between August 20th and 26th. I am going to be visiting my family from the 19-28 so the night we stay is not really an issue. Are there certain nights that are less expensive than others? Is it too early to bid? I went the same time last year and we got the Millenium Knickerbocker for $100 on Priceline. It was all right but I will feel better about the hotel if I got it a little cheaper. let me know if I should hold off or start bidding now. Also let me know if there are any nights of the week that are generally cheaper in Chicago. Thanks!
  7. No i wasn't declaring the 4 people in one room and 3 in the other room. I booked it as 2 people in each room. The $200 rate was before taxes. I believe the total came out to around $890.
  8. I am looking to book 2 hotel rooms for 7 people September 22-24. I am not sure what the best way to go about doing this is. We have located Paris for an average of $200/night which doesn't seem too bad but I would LOVE to find cheaper since the plane tickets are going to be pricey. I believe Hotwire has Paris for $179 as well. What would you advise? Should I even bother with Priceline or should I stick with booking directly through the hotel's website? Is this too early to find a really good deal or promotion? Thanks
  9. My Boyfriend LOVES Mexican food and I LOVE margaritas so we will DEFINITELY check that place out! :) Thanks again, I'll definitely be back the next time I am planning a trip!
  10. Thanks for the vote of confidence, that was all I needed! I booked through savingsbarn.com. It WAS the Westin as we hoped and they are pet friendly:) So now you know for sure that the Westin does come up on hotwire as a 4 star hotel. We got a price of $156. Thanks again!
  11. I updated the priceline thread. My backup dogsitter fell through and I could not go ahead with priceline unfortunately. After some research I discovered that a lot of hotels in NYC don't take dogs so I didn't want to risk it. If we can pretty much figure that the 4 star in times square is the westin we will be all set. I understand that we cannot guarantee that it is the westin but I am just curious if this has in fact been downgraded and if anyone has won a 4 star in Times square with those amenities. THanks
  12. Thank you for your strategy. It turns out that our backup for the dog fell through and therefore I could not try priceline. We are sticking with our backup at the Millenium Brodway for Friday and Saturday night. We would like to stay Sunday too and we are trying to identify the hotels through hotwire in order to get a pet friendly one. I posted under the hotwire thread because I think the 4 star times square that we found might be the westin and they are pet friendly. Has this been downgraded to 4 stars? Thanks
  13. I am looking for a room for May 28th and I am finding a 4 star hotel in Times square with the following amenities: Restaurant, fitness, spa, wireless and business center. Is this the Westin downgraded to a 4 star? Has anyone figured out if it has in fact been downgraded? Thanks for your help!
  14. I would stay downtown which is the closest to the freedom trail and most of the sightseeing. It also has very easy access to Fenway through the greenline. Copely would be the preferred choice. I don't know what exact zones they offer but if they have a brookline zone there are some decent hotels there and they have very easy access through the T on the green line. I would not suggest the Airport. you have to change trains too much and it's not a safe area.
  15. Budget is not really THAT important. We would only be willing to split our bid for a substantial savings. If we get a pet friendly hotel it would definitely not be worth the hassle unless we could save $50 or more. Thanks!
  16. Well like I said we got the Millenium Broadway for $219/night in a club room which included extras so I would only want to forego that for a better deal. If we couldn't do 4* for $200 on priceline we will probably just stay with what we have confirmed. Thanks!
  17. I have a backup for my dog if I end up with a pet "unfriendly" hotel. Could you please recommend a priceline strategy for me now? Thanks!
  18. Thanks for your help. I might try that but it looks as though on Hotwire I can't really find a better deal than the Millenium Broadway for $219/night for a club room (includes breakfast, drinks, etc.). I think that the hotel is 3.5 stars on Hotwire. I will avoid priceline then. Thanks!
  19. Is there any way to bid on only hotels that allow pets?
  20. I'm looking for a 4* hotel in NYC for May 26-28. We would be willing to go 27-29th if you think we could get a much better deal. We are willing to stay in Midtown East, Midtown West, or Upper Midtown/Central Park South. I currently have a backup reservation at Millenium Broadway. I got a club room for $219/night there but looking to see if it is possible to get a better deal. Please advise me on a good strategy to use. Also, I need a hotel that allows small pets (I have a 3lb dog). Is there anyway to ensure this? Although...I haven't come across a NYC hotel yet that doesn't allow small dogs. Thanks for your help!!
